Girls Und Panzer Character Analysis: Kay 

Kay's reaction at the end of the match solidifies her character. She tells Miho "This isn't war. The tanks would be sad if we forgot that." This is probably the first time Miho starts to realize what it was about Sensha-do that she was missing in her mothers school and her old team.

Ah yes, my favourite girl! Kay is underrated. Kind, fights fair, generous and played a big part in saving the tanks in Der Film

I liked when Kay was disappointed about her teammates cheating so she ordered that only five tanks follow her to even the odds in favor of their adversaries.

To me, Kay while very stereotypically American, represents the ideal type of American to be. Outgoing, friendly, competitive but fair, and just "a bro" to everyone

In Der Film, they split the forces in 3 with Miho, Maho, and Kay as the 3 commanders of the groups. Get that? Get what that implies? Miho considers Kay THAT good. Nobody (other than Katyusha, but that's her character) argues with the decision to put her as one of the top 3 in their joint team. And honestly... She IS that good. I liked that detail.

I always wondered why they didn't change their strategy after realizing that Yukari had been spying on them.

I also love Kay, she is just so friendly and open. Another idea for a video is on the complaint that Shenshado is a pay to win sport. While looking through the GuP wiki, I saw a comment of a guy saying that one of his biggest problems with the show is that it is largely pay to win sport. As proof he points out that big schools like Kuromorimine and Pravda and how they are able to purchase so many big heavy tanks making it almost impossible for small schools like Bomple to win. I have my own reasons for why this isn't a problem, but I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

Alright, you really sold me on Kay. Now, here's the thing. I was a crew chief on the C-5 Galaxy from 2002 - 2012 when we switched to the C-17. This being said, the max fuel load is 51.150 gallons or 332,500 pounds of fuel. Do the math at $5.00 per gallon. Expensive???? Yeah! Plus, she could only take off ,with all of Oriai's tanks, with almost an empty fuel load, and would need to aerial refuel within a few miles of take off. So, doing what she did goes beyond being a Bro. That's some super hero shit. Plus, they really got the cockpit of the C5 Pretty damn close. I really miss that plane.

Kay and Saunder's contribution in Der Film can easily be summed up by this line from "Devil Dogs" by Sabaton: "In times they are needed, such times they appear! When a leader has fallen, a hero arise and inspire the lost into glorious deeds that would give them a name that live on to this day!"

Man, I really love Kay. She's a top 5 favorite of mine with Miho in 1st, followed by Yukari, then Maho, and Kay being 4th. She's definitely the best character to have been used to introduce Senshado properly compared to everyone else. She's happy, cheerful, friendly, and very much peak sportsmanship, especially compared to Katyusha and Erika introduced later on. And what she did for Miho and Ooarai, that being showing them what Senshado really is at its core, and later, in Der Film, rescuing their tanks from being stolen and later returning them and joining in the final match of the film. Kay is just peak bro and is an amazing character you can't help but love. It's why I love her after all, her actions, personality, demeanor, how she presents herself, and how she cares for others really spoke to me. Laid back and friendly yet also serious and competitive without going too far like Katyusha and Erika did, that's Kay in a nutshell, and why she's one of the best characters in Girls und Panzer. Plus her Engrish is adorable, her being the first character to swear, in English though, is funny, and she gives the best hugs. What's not to love about this wonderful Not American girl? Kay is one of my favorite characters. Kay, along with Yukari and Erwin, is someone I would ask for a date if she came to our church. Kay reminds me of General Robert E. Lee when he rebuked J.E.B Stuart for a pyrrhic victory. All Lee said when looking at the dead was, "We will not speak of this." That burned Stuart to no end. It was to redeem himself that he ended up traveling too far from the army in the Gettysburg campaign.

Also not a body language expert, but I think part of what makes Kay so likeable is that she's so animated. She moves and gestures a lot, and this gives a feeling of openness that fosters that feeling of Friend of Everyone.

I find it super interesting that Kay operates a standard M4 (unnamed) Sherman, instead of the upgunned Easy Eight or 76mm like Alisa, I guess this goes further in her sense of fairness, as she is basically handicapping herself.

Kay may well be big-hearted and ostensibly focussed on 'fairness,' but let's not forget that during Der Film it's suggested that Saunders had previously enquired about acquiring the Karl-Gerät self-propelled siege mortar.

I just want to imagine that Kay is the common US amerian girl. Happy, positive and very hyper friendly and Kind.. But I guess Reality isn't that kind. I guess this is one of the positives that Stereotypes could do of what we see Americans back then.

Unfortunately, the anime industry, and anime studios, learnt nothing from Girls und Panzer, relying instead on anime’s many cliches and generic tropes to constantly create anime that don’t leave much of a lasting mark, and making adaptations of manga and light novels, most of them alarmingly being Isekai.😢

Every girl in this show is Japanese. Technically Kay is Asian despite her looks.

Something of no importance; the jacket that Kay is wearing resembles the jackets worn by tank crews during WWII. At West Point Museum they have an exhibit that has one of these jackets on display. There is also a pair of overalls but we all notice Kay isn't wearing those long things, and neither is anyone else.

Kay is a great character, but I like Alisa and the character developement she goes through more. From basically bending the rules to leading the Tankathlon squad as shown in Ribbon Warrior where Kay is essentially grooming Alissa to be the next captain.

What if you put Kei and Kongou in a room together?

My only gripe is them using the union theme as her marching song. Kay is very obviously a southern girl and wouldnt be caught dead playing that song.
