I fit Givi pannier frames PL9050 to the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Is this the best aftermarket pannier rack you can install? Watch as I modify and instal the best pannier as a step by step guide for the Himalayan in preparation for travelling around the world by motorcycle.
Unlike the stock Enfield pannier frames you do not need to extend the wires for the rear indicators. I also fit indicator blanking plates from Enfield Accessories.

Hi, after watching your video on fitting Givi pannier racks, I was going to order a set for my E5, only to be told they won’t fit, so it will have to be an RE or Hitchcocks unless Givi are in the process of making some. Great videos, enhanced by your in-depth knowledge of Scotland.

@WeeJaunt 2 года назад
Thanks John. Aye the issue is the new rear rack design on the E5..actually thanks for mentioning this I will add captions to the video explaining this just incase anyone orders them by mistake. That said I believe it would fit if you installed the older style rear rack to the bike but that's probably not a great idea either lol. Maybe Givi will upgrade. The RE pannier is a solid bit of kit tbh and you can still install givi or pretty much any other pannier 🤷‍♂️

Just spotted the comments for E5 models which mine will be , so i'm hopeing Givi will have something for the E5 by next year .

Yep I think Givi are working on it. The other option is put the older style rack on your E5 but that's not a great solution either.

Ceat haha yep the rear slick picked up a puncture and its due a replacement now anyway. So I'm gonny do a little how 2 repair to the puncture video then I'll buy a new pair of shoes for it and do a how to change the shoes on a Himi video lol 👍

warning: I have the same bike and pannier racks. Happy with it. But Just a tip / warning: even with - or because of- the exhaust extension the hot exhaust gas is likely to melt the signal light because the turn signal has to be moved -just like you did- exactly in the hot gas stream. Costed me a new turn signal. Dealer had seen this a couple of times before. Just make a small heat shield to divert the hot exhaust gasses away from the turn signal and you’ll be fine. Furthers… Happy with the bike AND the Givi GR709’s
@WeeJaunt
@WeeJaunt 3 года назад
That a great tip. I fitted the exhaust extension no issues yet but I will have a look at that. What did you use for the heat shield?

@@WeeJaunt don’t laugh : a large serving spoon, about 8 cm diameter for 50 cents in the second hand shop, sprayed it with Hammerite Heat resistant (mat black) paint. Drilled a hole in tje handle and attached it to the pannier rack with a pipe clamp. Looks like an original piece of the Himalayan now. 😀

@@plioplaticarpus I'm not laughing you are talking my language mate thats absolute genius. That's a Himalayan owner right there. You ain't screwing a serving spoon to an Africa Twin in a hurry. I love it lol.

I have the same system on my Himmy (2018), never had an issue with melty signals. Sorry to hear you had that problem! They’ve been on several week-long summer moto camping trips where ambient temps have pushed 40 deg Celsius. My signal pods are round with incandescent bulbs, perhaps an overall different design / form factor.

Hi there. Enjoying your videos, having purchased a Himalayan a few months back (2020 model). Really enjoying the Himalayan. Have bought the Givi engine bars and S310 spotlights, which will be fitted soon. Am looking at buying the Givi PL9050 pannier rails (I’ve got Givi Dolomitti 36s to go on) and noticed you fitted an exhaust muffler extension. Do you have a link for this product - and for the frame blanks you fitted? Am looking at the RE pannier rails also, but impressed with Givi kit - though pricey. Keep up the good work.

Hi sorry this comment slipped past me. The Exhaust baffle came with the givi pannier frames pl9050 it was in the kit. The plates came with the pannier bags I bought the givi grt709s. I don't know if you can buy them seperate but I'm sure you probably can. Also worth checking kappa website the sell givi gear under licence and its often cheaper 👍 good luck with it. I'm also a givi guy the gear is hard to beat.

Hi, looking for pannier bags for my Himalayan. Are you still happy with the Givi grt 709 bags?
@jeremymurfitt1512

Hi - I am coming to the same conclusion that the Givi system looks to be a good solution. I watched too many videos on Hard v Soft bags and none are conclusive. Have you looked at bags to go on the front racks? I have been looking at options but still undecided. The Royal Himalayan ones (currently out of stock) are designed to fit but only have velcro fixings and I am not mad on the design. I have looked at others from Givi (GRT722), Motech and LOMO (simple and good value). Any thoughts?
@WeeJaunt

Iv not really looked in depth at front bags. But Iv skimmed over a few. Aye lomo for cheap and cheerful and it's just a dry bag but I dunno your style

Hi... You know if it's possible to remove the plástic piece of the for the givi system? I want to install another Brand of bags and that piece Is on the way

On mine the two halves of the plastic come apart. It's very tight I used pliers to pull the back half off but they may be different in different countries. Maybe check underneath for a small screw?

@@WeeJaunt the Rack Is the same, it doesn't have a screw... I Will try your advice, thanks!

@@gastonagraf Yep pull the smaller plastic cover off at the back with pliers. The front will either be clipped through the frame or it will have screws. Allen bolts screws If I remember correctly 👍

Quick question would you be able to tell me what the width of the givi pannier rails are? Looking for some that are slightly wider than the RE rails which currently sit at 450mm. Thanks in advance.

@WeeJaunt 2 года назад
@@ethanhardwick5031 Its measuring 43.5 cm approx 17 inch. outside to outside on the frame or 47 cm 18inch if you fit the givi nylon plate. Remember this pannier frame is for the bs4 model I don't know if givi have designed a new pannier for the bs6. The only difference that's relevant to either model is the rear carrier but no doubt you already know that mate 👍 also you might find it cheaper if you look for a Kappa version. Kappa make alot of givi products under licence but it's the same thing.
