This is a 2007 GMC Sierra W/T (work truck, yes, that is actually a trim level) The work truck trim level is just a nice way of saying, "cheap as you can get". If you are actually using it for work, this is a perfect truck. I bought it from the auction, it has a clean title and was just a donated vehicle, probably because the last owner didn't want to invest the time that I will in this video. Let's jump into it and fix 15 years of neglect and see if we can come up with a nice dependable truck in the end.

This is my favorite gen of GM truck (maybe just because I'm familiar with it?). I love the plain wheels and the cloth interior - I find the seats very comfortable. Changing headlights without tools? Awesome. So many things to like. I'm also okay with this engine - it's a work truck after all. Nice transformation.

@philbrutsche8928 2 года назад
@@ahmadsjc7775 In principal, yes. But the reality is you are at the mercy of the people that make maintenance parts the car, whether those are aftermarket or OE (original equipment). Unless it's something that is in VERY high demand (American muscle cars from the late 1960s to mid 1970s come to mind), you will eventually hit a point where you won't be able to maintain it just because you won't be able to get parts any more. A good example is BMWs from the late 1970s to early 1980s - certain parts are no longer made, and anything you try to buy used will be broken in the same way as the parts you are trying to replace. American muscle cars from the late 1980s to early 1990s are in the same boat. If you need a radiator for a late 1980's Ford Mustang, they aren't made any more by anyone. Your only option is to try to find a good condition used unit somewhere.

Projects like this are very satisfying to watch (and do). I called the misfire before you did--you could see it in the exhaust backing it off the trailer. I have a 2007.5 (GMT 900) Sierra. The only options above this are 4x4, 4.8 v8 and HD suspension. It's nice having a somewhat simple truck in a day of tons of electronics. I do have to envy the ease of the headlights on this one though, mine are WAY more annoying. I also had to replace the hitch on mine due to rust and it uses that exact same model. Mine was a bit more challenging though using only hand tools on a gravel driveway 4 months after knee reconstruction surgery. I was a bit shocked when I discovered they don't really have real bumpers, but those chrome pieces are more like a hard bumper cover and it's really just a bunch of brackets holding things together. This truck while not a big pricey, high-level truck, will make someone a good reliable daily driver that will last quite a while. It won't be fast or tow a huge trailer, but it'll work hard for many years. Taken care of, that thing has a lot of years and miles left in it.

I always found the problem with LED bulb replacements is that the cutoff at the top edge is not as abrupt as a regular bulb - it's not about led versus halogen, and it's not about brightness. I think it's to do with the size of the element versus filament, and how the reflector/refractor is designed for the smaller light origin. The center of the light can be the same height but the more gradual cutoff can still cast enough light above the "cutoff" line to dazzle oncoming cars. I tried 3 different brands in my Bronco and eventually gave up. If you can find an LED bulb where the element is the same size and position as the original bulb then it would be fine.

Old myth of sucking the threads out of the cylinder head using air tools. If the threads come out with the spark plug,then there was a previous problem! Shoveling dirt out of the cab had me laughing! Dirtnali has met its match! 😎

Great job. Amazing what a little TLC and maintenance will do. Love these smaller jobs too. Keep up the good work.

When I was a kid growing up in the rusr belt of NE Ohio, Western Auto sold "Slip on rocker panels" Just slip them on and sheet metal screw them down. You no longer snagged you pant leg on the jagged rocker panel.

Worked great until the rust went past the screw holes. 😂
