Def facts on DJ Quick. I’m still learning all the contributions he made to death row alone. Hopefully king you at least get compensated for all your hard work.
See now Glasses is talking about my favorite musical hero. Rick James. He ain’t just some chappelle show skit (hilarious though it may be🤣) but he was a serious musician and producer who studied the history of the greats before him. He had his issues but he was no joke musically. Long live Rick James. #COLDBLOODED
*Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t !* _Tappin' in from South Central LA_ Salute to Glasses ✊🏾 Quik his easily the most underrated artist/producer/engineer/arranger/musician/writer/'curator of energy" in the history of hip hop and music music in general. I can say with all certainty that there isn't another hip hop producer that's FONKIER than Quik. Some of his basslines STILL give me chills ! Listen to songs like We Still Party (my all time favorite), Suga Free's On My Way, Snoop's Don't Tell, a song titled Mr. Tic's Groove, Suga Free's Get The Money, or songs from the Mausberg/Suga Free Konnected Project like Pimpin', In My Face, Shut Up or Do You Wanna See. Maaaan I could go on forever about Quik's music catalog but I'll just end with this: Listen to every song I've named and tell me that dude ain't one of the coldest to do it ! Thank me later. 👇🏾
TMZ released a video a few weeks ago with Quik playing big hits people never knew he produced a must watch. But the ones in the Hip Hop industry know Quiks legacy that's why Billboard ranked him #13 on their top 25 Hip Hop producer last week.
I was raised in Boston, grew up on East Coast Hip Hop, became a fan of southern Hip Hop in the late 80's (Geto Boys..grip it on that other level)..West Coast soon after. I went to a Big Mike, MC Breed, 8 Ball and MJG show in ATL in like 1994 (I think it was the Fox Theater..not sure..but I know it was a theater with a retracting roof)..The next day, we went to the Underground Mall and Peachtree Motors (Rim Shop).Too Short was behind the counter and Redman was sitting on the counter. That day ATL Became a mainstay (To Me) in the history of Hip Hop. Dungeon Family, T.I, Jeezy, Gucci. And NOW as far as Podcast go..BHIGHTV. Salute brother..I have just Subscribed 💯
DJ Quik & MC Eiht best show was that Bill Maher episode where even the politician couldn't argue his point because of the facts laid down by them. Bill was so mad he couldn't do them weak jokes because they wasn't fighting each other. Quik & Eiht did wonders for young black men at the time. Black folks in suits erased all of that cus it took attention away from them.
DJ Quik being to experimental is what hurts his case. Example: Listen to his record “Medley 4 A V” on his Rythmalism album. That record was PERFECT! Snoop, Nate Dogg and El Debarge on a Quik record. Quik recorded his vocals backwards on that record and in my opinion ruined it.
DJ Quik and Ant Banks are severely underappreciated, they are Dr.Dre equals...Ant Banks is the Dr Dre of the Bay and when Dre was hella lasy Quik was there at DR to mix all the beats and Daz and Warren G were never on Quiks level musically...Quik Cold187un and Dr Dre invented Gfunk
i can see you know your stuff like me, but E-A-SKI is actually the one they call the Dr. Dre from the bay, Tone Capone and Paris from Guerrilla funk records are equally dope.
@@flavioalmeida3443 tone capone and mike mosley and sam bostic and e a ski are def on ant banks level and i love all of them equally also my boy khayree
Ok hold on y'all with the quik is better than Dr Dre slander I listen to both productions and they both are excellent. But let's not forget andre young productions has had 3 movies from the artist he produced. Plus 2 Hall of Fame inductees and ijs.
Smh dudes be saying anything never compare dj quick to Rick James it’s disrespectful this is why hip hop is wack and why white boys will take it over dj quick don’t get the respect because he’s not that good ain’t nobody bumping dj quick he never had any big songs …just because a guy is from where you from don’t mean he’s great.
Lmao say you don't know sh** without saying you don't know sh* " better ask about them red tapes, hip hop will never be ran by white ppl , the underground , the mainstream has them in there because y'all support it.
You are clearly the example of what you posted. You literally just be said anything. You clearly don’t know what Quik has been behind as well as the talent he has. Do your research. The comparison to him and Quik legit but “”different eras”. Stop looking at this at a genre/popularity level
It's not that Quik don't get his respect, he should get more but he kinda fell off after his first 2 albums 🤷🏾♂️ Plus, you never really seen Quik like that out and about.
Quik don’t have a Deep Cover or a straight outta Compton song on his resume Dre got some all time classics that we will heard forever Quik don’t have that
Quick has 5 "REGIONAL" albums... Dre has global albums. The Chronic and 2001 are phenomenons and people are still waiting on his next album.. Quick is great. But he can't compare to Dre.@@thelastdon9000
These people was in the house, learning their ABCs, or not conceived yet when we was getting that good music @@thelastdon9000 Not too long ago, black folk learned Bobby Cadwell is white.
