Absolutely love this. I learned about Glasya a couple of months ago when I started doing D&D Hells research for a campaign I'm part of (It's a LONG campaign with a lot of Homebrew, drawing some elements from D&D canon. Two of us are DMs and I'm DMing the current chapter). I'm COMPLETELY obsessed with Glasya, and she's going to fit so well into this campaign. (LOT of vampires, including good ol' Strahd(as an ALLY, for now) and a very important Cambion Dynasty all descended from a Pit Fiend who was spawned from Asmodeus' own blood). Before I knew about Glasya, I already had Uzoroth(Pit Fiend)'s brother in law be a secret Vampire, and Uzoroth's son is a major crime lord; so knowing about Glasya now, she fits SO well. Originally the Vampire Lord was going to be a servant of Asmodeus, but Glasya fits so much better.
Great episode. And I gotta say, I like the visual format of this one. It is nice seeing you guys in your spot, chilling without the green screen and stuff. It just seems more organic. I don't know. I just like it.
Same. Just not a fan of the switching back and forth from the wide angle to the close up cams. Just because you have three cameras doesn't mean you have to use them.
Yoo! So good!! My campaign heavily features devils and I am now considering making Glasya a big part of the late game. The part I love most about this episode is the detailing of how she was involved with tricking the Archdevils into a coup amongst themselves. THOT provoking stuff for sure
Thank you! :) I remember Glasya from one of my old monster manuals -2nd edition(when the illustrations where only black ink crosshatching! If anyone remembers those?).
Love the hell content. Year of the fiend has just been a blast so far. Been getting my coworkers to listen to you guys cause we can listen to podcasts while working but no youtube and half of them love d&d in some form
I've been binging your content and only just now checked in our latest stuff! Wow you guys have come far! Congrats and very well deserved. Love the studio setup!
As helpful and funny as always! Please keep the fiend lore coming! My PCs are about to go into Cania, I’m holding out for a Mephistopheles episode! Lol
Very underrated channel. About a year ago I started playing DND. I was always a nerd but I'm also a musclehead. I was hesitant at first but after the first session I started playing and I was hooked. A few months back I had a falling out with the group me and my gf played with and it hurt us both because it kinda ruined our DND experience. But ive been preparing to become a dungeon master and your lore videos have been very educational. I listen to them while I'm driving at work and I just now looked to see how many views y'all get and I'm surprised y'all aren't more well known. But I guess DND is still not very popular somehow. At any rate, good luck to you guys. And thank you for making DND fun for me. I will use what I learn to craft stories that my girlfriend will enjoy roleplaying in.
I don't know if this is actually supported in lore, but here's my headcanon: the Reckoning of Hell was essentially puppeteered by Glasya during the days before she became more closely aligned with Asmodeus. This is still in her "devil may care" (ba dum tsss) days where she didn't take things seriously. However, she is so naturally gifted, cunning, and intelligent that she essentially sparked this massive civil war that folded in upon itself and drastically weakened all parties besides Asmo. I just love the idea that THIS is the prodigious potential of the Princess of Hell. She wasn't even super interested or cared, but just on a whim and a lark was able to engineer this cataclysmic earthquake of events and manipulated the archdukes so deftly, bringing them to their knees. I also say that this is what caused Asmodeus to force her to break her tryst with Mammon and elevate her to ruling the 6th. He saw her incredible potential, so he decided after seeing her handiwork that she was ready to start becoming groomed for the throne. In my mind, the next step is that Asmodeus will secretly engineer a conflict/war between Fierna and Mephistopheles, with Fierna trying to conquer the icy realm to have more independence from Belial and to BFF frenemy one-up Glasya. The war would benefit Asmo in several ways: a) forcing Mephistopheles to reveal his cards to the hells about his pursuit of hellfire, which he would ultimately use as his trump card to win the war, b) force the death of Fierna, hardening Glasya and bringing her more into his mold for her future, c) forcing conflict between a now enraged Belial and Mephistopheles, weakening both, and d) encouraging Dispater and Mammon to more aggressively pursue their debts held by Mephistopheles, now that they're aware of how he's been using his soul debts.
Thanks for the episode :3 - can’t wait for sqs to come back - oh and perfect timing I’m using Glasya in my game more info is alway good - thanks for all you do I appreciate you guys
I wonder if Glasya knows the truth of Asmodeus actual form? I know the Master of Lies unlikely to let anyone know of it. Still if anyone knows I would lay some gold on her knowing.
Are you boys going to cover Gargauth the forgotten 10th lord of the nine hells? Imma be honest I don’t know if he actually is real but the forgotten realms wiki has him and it’d be dope to go over him in the “Year of the Friend” :)
I kind of wish that Glasya had more interactions in the lord with Graz’zt. If the origin of Graz’zt being a son of Asmodeus is true, then that would make them siblings. So far, we only have that one but of fluff about how the two fought once, and Glaysa spilt his blood, creating a new type of Demon that had a Devil’s cunning.
My theory on Asmodeus's children is that he actually has 2, Glasia... and Graz'zt. They seem very similar to me, Glasia being a rather chaotic devil and Graz'zt being a rather lawful demon. Both seem to have a thing for pain and pleasure. Both their origins are unconfirmed with theories that Asmo is their father. Bensozia being the mother of Glasia, and Pale Night being the mother of Graz'zt. The ultimate goal of this secret I believe is one of two things. The first could be that Asmo intends to have the two to both take over their respective realms (Glasia takes over the 9 hells, Graz'zt takes over the Abyss), then after that for them to get married to be the ultimate power couple in the multiverse (ie Asmo retires as a supportive dad). The other also involves them taking over their realms, but the aftermath is more sinister being that Asmo then somehow reabsorbed his essence from the two of them, thus becoming the one true lord of the nine hells and the prince of demons. Obviously this is no 5 year plan.
Crackpot theory time what if Glasya some kind of alternate aspect/avatar of Asmodeus. He uses her to act as a way to ensure his survival incase anything goes wrong, a way to increase his power without people knowing about any of his involvement, and as a trap to any Duke trying to go against him.
Whitewolf/World of Darkness(WoD): Mage the Awakening has rules for dice mechanics for awakening spirits, building them into more powerful stable beings along with disabling and eating the powers/hd of other spirit beings. They work better than what 3.5e had and if you have a good rule lawyer rule bender and power gamer you can bend the spell use from WOD into D&D. So .. eating .. another soul to grow yourself into power can be done.
Hello, great episode and i trully love the entire series dedicated to the archdevils of the nine Hells. Still, i'd like to ask, do hags count as fiend or fay ? I mean we see here that a night hag used to rule this layer. At any case, have you thought on making videos about the specific types of hags as well us give ideas to dms out there on how to use them ? I did a homebrew campaign with a green hag but i feel that i could have used her more, like she had so much to offer and i only used a tiny portion of her skills. Thank you.
Asmodeus will never be overthrown but could it ever happen it would be by Mephistopheles only for Glasya to to steal the throne from him before he can make his first command
Glasya came out with AD&D2ndE, and my gaming shop got her information with the " Guide to the Nine Hells " source book. We later up dated her into our 3rdE games and played her off as a teenager. Regard her as a grey elf half fiend to get the most out of the int mod bonus. We began her game play as a rogue1 for the most skill points then follow with sorcerer/wizard. Any time she is .. killed .. she loses a hd level ending up back in Baator. So at the campaign start, she was the most .. prone .. to run for her life at all cost, not saying she was a coward. But having a swam of 8hd summon demons showing they are more then willing to bypass mortals just to kill a devil princess was more along their hit list to capture/ kill than a paladin. With 3rdE, before 3.5e .. we had her/ Glasya as a rogue3/fighter2/sorcerer2/wizard3, CR:10 (12 due to being a fiend) with a crystal that holds her xp award gains to power and create fiendish items and packs. To keep tension and drama actions high in game play, we just run games around 10th to 15th-level. Otherwise we up Glasya up to 14th-level wizard or a 22nd-level N/PC. able to screw people over with Limited Wish. Along with using Ravenloft AD&D2ndE box set spell 6th-level Ancient Bestow Curse, which can create ancestor blood line curses such as werewolfism. Other note in creation of Soul Stones/Coins, .. Polymorph target creature/ being into a baby box turtle the size of your thumb. Then Turn Flesh into Stone/ Metal for easy carry trade with fiends and night hags. 2.) In house game rules, .. a 18th-level wizard has 18d4 hd which translate into 9d8hd. Once mixed with multi classing and totaling the other class levels hd, if total to 25d8, we just switch N/PC into the monster manual Titan for CR encounters. 4th-level rogue has 4d6hd we translates into 3d8hd, with the side benefit of having 7ranks in Bluff skill checks.
Great episode, riveting stuff. Btw, I distinctly remember "Malebolge" being pronounced a bit differently in Dantes Inferno(video game). More like bulge. Different setting, I might be off base
Hey guys. The new format is fantastic! The straight on camera was a bit.... it was awful. I'd always catch you guys in a total durp moment and would never unsee it. This is much more natural! Well done!
it sounds like Malagard's version of Malbolge was just a copy of Gehenna? I'd expect more creativity from an inherently cruel immortal being with an inverse concept of beauty and ugliness.
The 9 hells is like a bunch of assholes that lost the plot that they're all in it together against the abyss. And in their seacking personal power and glorification they all fail at their real purpose.
