I follow several grain farmers on here, they are of varying size, then I think about the farm where I grew up in NJ, Our whole farm was 150 acres and by the time you took out the cow pasture , the field with the wet clay soil in the woods and the woods, it was more like 100 acres tillable land. The you go and knock off 80 acres in a day. and I am amazed. One thing that I do miss since my Dad has passed away, would be the chance to show him what all you guys I follow have in equipment and techno,logy that was not even a dream when he farmed.

Brian, I'll say one thing when it comes to acres covered in a day's time yield has to be factored into that equation. Perhaps the reason Ivvers is covering more acres is because he's not getting quite so many bushels. It's all relative and is one of the other RU-vid farmer says if you know you know

Ivers also has huge flat fields and you are correct in that they have 3 CaseIH 9250 combines. They only use one for corn because the trucks and grain system cannot keep up with more than one combine. Every farm is different and you guys do fine with what you have.

Thanks for another great video Brian. It was interesting and enjoyable. You finally got some rain , most all year I believe you said. Wow. Would have been nice earlier in the year. Oh well. Birthday party in the new shop-yea!!! Good place to have that. Love old glory hanging on the shop wall. Looks wonderful Brian!!!!!!!! Thanks for doing that. You had a busy afternoon combining corn. Too wet to seed wheat I believe you said. So you got some corn knocked out which is good. Another good day Brian. About it I guess. Thanks for everything. You all take care and be safe. Thanks. The hardware purchase is a great deal. I did exactly the same thing for a supply and fabrication/maintenance facility I managed. It wasn’t the savings on the product it was the savings in time running to the hardware store for random bolts washers and o rings. Smart move.

Combines that dump on both sides . Versatile Transaxle 2000 . Pull type though. High capacity. They tested one in our wheat back in the eighties. They pushed it to see what she could eat and turned the fuel pump up several times on their Versatile tractor . They cooked the tractor lol

The Versatile 2000 combines had a unloading auger that pivoted 360 degrees only problem it was a pull type combine not ideal for corn they were a fairly large combine in the day just a bit light built
@karlrovey
@karlrovey 7 месяцев назад
After planting wheat without autosteer (though there was gps guidance to tell me right or left, doesn't take into account that the seed drill pivots at the hitch), I can understand why everyone wants to use it. Go over a rough patch, boom, you're off by 5-10 feet before you can even do anything about it. It's also awkward finding a disc that fell off the previous pass. I know it's a little easier to combine without auto-steer compared to planting, but it sure helps, especially if you have corn or anything that needs a row-crop header.

Mowing stories, back in the early 90's we rented a new farm, went to mow ditches mid summer, very tall,,, mowed right over one of those telephone boxes.... mangled it, took them two days to fix it... actually insurance covered it!!!
@ecleveland1
@ecleveland1 7 месяцев назад
I used to do controlled burns for forestry work to plant trees. We we were burning a 80 acre tract that had about 30 acres of kudzu. We ended up burning one of those telephone boxes that was not marked with a pole or sign and was not marked on the site map. It was a mess and knocked out every phone for miles. It was completely covered with kudzu and my guess was that it had been that way for many years.
@joelmoody1569
@joelmoody1569 7 месяцев назад
Been there done that a few times . why don't they put tall orange or yellow poles next to them , and paint the phone box bright orange . They are usually green so it makes them hard to see in tall grass.
