I've been rewatching his reactions to glee again because ive also been rewatching glee (it's in a cycle of shows i rewatch) and I was just about to type this out...
I think the flashmob was so underrated. Puck did it for Rachel to show her she doesn't need to change herself to be beautiful and even chose a song CALLED Barbara Streisand to remind her that Jewish beauty can get famous. Idk, it's one of my fav scenes.
I think the glee cast even did it in an acutal functioning mall that's why people were filming them and looking like what the heck is going on.... if i'm not mistaken
To be fair Kurt transferred bc he felt unsafe in the school, and saw that Blaine’s school was just safer and more accepting. We have all seen that apart from Blaine he doesn’t quite fit with the rest. Now that supposedly his old bully won’t bully him anymore, he can go back to a place where more people care about him and he has more personal relationships and friendships.
Clexaholic911 FACTS ONLY!!!! (though I Still Believe/Super Bass is a strong contender - if solely for the fact that it shouldn’t work but somehow does...)
"is that the end of warblers" *sobs* yes :((( but don't worry with their connection with blaine they still get a couple mentions. But this "generation" of warblers is done. Also the shirts weren't about what they hated about themselves but things that got them bullied or they would change and tbf kurt did try the whole hetero way back in season 1 due to the problems it brought to his relationship with his dad, it happens especially at that time. You can see the inner homophobia more in karofsky tho. Kurt, Santana and Sam's shirt were very popular back then too
@@darkhorse4122 *HELLO SPOILERS* they used different actors for that i believe, thats why i meant this generation. Also the fact that they are extremely different due to the storyline
Man the Emma and therapist scene is so underrated, I remember getting so emotional originally seeing it before I even knowing as much as I do know about mental disorders and such, I relate to that scene so much now
fun fact: this is the longest episode of glee ever and had a 90-minute segment on live TV so it was kind of a big deal at the time. This has some of the best songs of the entire series: I Feel Pretty/Unpretty, As If We Never Said Goodbye, Somewhere Only We Know, Born This Way. What an amazing episode
That Faberry duet tho 💜 Still one of my favorite songs they did, Rachel's and Quinn's voices match perfectly. That being said, the glee club annoyed me a bit this episode. It was Rachel's decision, but they clearlt didn't respected that. I understand that the show was trying to make a point that she might had regretted it later, but the message it sends abt people that choose plastic surgery isn't one of my favorites
Well this was a time where the important thing was to protect people about plastic surger as in from making a rushed decision today its about letting people chose about their body without judgement. Its a thing of their timw tbh. Glee in that sense can be very outdated but at the time, it was groundbreaking
You have to keep in mind that at the time this show came about their were a lot of issues with people disliking how they looked, surgery wasn’t as accepted because people would turn to it for the wrong reasons
@K90_ 2019 They can if they want to. There are no laws in the US against teens getting plastic surgery, they just need parental consent before 18. In some countries, the age of consent is 16. I'm not completely against the message of the episode itself. It's just the way the message was turned into the script that bugged me a bit. I like the idea of learning how to love yourself fully. But for some ppl, their insecurities don't go away that easily, and can persist for years. If they're are fully convinced and think they'll be happier with plastic surgery, then i don't see a problem with it.
Julia G the truth is Rachel was never unhappy with her appearance before this episode. If the show had shown her struggling with her looks a lot and then came to this episode I would have found it more natural to see that Rachel wanted this. But now it just looked like she wanted it to get Finn back in a way, also requesting Quinn’s nose definelty fed into that. I definelty believe that if you’re really unhappy with how you look you can get plastic surgery no judgement but Rachel wasn’t doing it for the right reasons and that’s what her friends saw and why they tried to talk her out of it. And it worked so needless to say she herself didn’t think it was that big of requirement just the typical teenage insecurity of the week.
The reason he said likes boys is because he was bullied for it, and he struggles excepting himself like with Santana putting lesbo (I believe that’s what she put, something relating to lesbian) because even though these characters are out or not they will feel bad at times for it. Also keep in mind this show was around the time where being gay wasn’t a accepted thing as much as it is now. And for racheal it was also during a time where people had issues liking how they looked and turned to surgery. This is a big episode about Excepting yourself, even though other may not. Btw I know you like blain but please don’t shit on characters like Kurt because their not the ones with the best voices. Kurt was a believed character because at this time period their weren’t many shows representing gay people, his character helped a lot of people who were gay and lesbian accept themselves. That’s why he is so loved he represented a group of people that were never really shown
Anyone else think it’s really weird that they didn’t even mention Rachel’s dads in this episode? Like she would absolutely need their permission to get a nose job, and whatever reason they gave for allowing it would give some insight into her family.
even if they weren't shown in the episode i feel like her dads would have had some thoughts about the possible nose job but then would have given it for her because i think she was spoiled as a kid and even now being an only child to gay dads (rachels words) she would have most definately been spoilt as a kid and now.... possibly just my thoughts
Somewhere only we know used to make me cry like a baby lol! I knew you'd love it! I guess Kurt had "likes boys" because it's what had him bullied! But he's proud of himself now I can't wait to see your prom reaction!!!!!
As If We Never Said Goodbye is one of my favorite Kurt solos! It's kind of sad to me you don't like the musical theater songs as much but everyone has their own taste lol This was a good episode as a whole, Rachel and Quinn's duet is another favorite from the whole show
Always have loved this episode! The whole storyline is very relatable because everyone has something about themselves they hate. It's nice to watch a show and relate to your favorite characters. The t-shirts for born this way are probably the most iconic thing the show has done. (Besides the slushies lol) This episode is so memorable and has alot of great songs!
The shirts aren’t what they hate about themselves it’s them accepting that they were “born that way” and loving themselves regardless of any criticisms
Really don't like how you downplayed the significance of Rachel's surgery. A lot of girls- middle eastern and jewish especially have insecurities relating to their own. Yeah I didn't like this reaction
You may not really care, but because he is in more episodes, the guy who used to bully Kurt and is no with Santana's name is pronounced Kar off ski, just one k in there. Karoffsky, David Karoffsky. (Not positive about the spelling, but I am about the pronunciation.
It's not necessarily something you hate about yourself. The shirts were supposed to be things other people might see as flaws or something you used to hate about yourself. The shirts represent how proud you are that the thing you were once ashamed of is a part of you.
Harry absolutely still dances!! And you should watch Step up 2 and 3. He’s in both!!! His character is more important in the second one but the third one is just fucking iconic. Idk why I never thought of recommending you those. But PLEASE do (and ik is a saga of movies but the first one is wildly diff than the others. Third one is by far the best).
That's ANOTHER thing people will forget about Santana. The fact that she threatened to out Karrofsky, that is. Because then they wouldn't be able to thrash Rachel for saying something annoying, if they had to admit that Santana is an absolute monster in comparison.
@@lenaertsjelke ooooh so THAT's the difference between Finn and her ! Because outing someone accidentaly is absolutely unforgivable, but if you do it on purpose, and you're "self-aware" about it, then it's ok ! I get it now.
Kidômaru-Kun I never said Santana threatening with outing someone is okay ... where did you get that from? I just gave the reason why I like Santana over Rachel, even though she is a worse person. Santana knows she is and in the later seasons she works on improving herself, which is an arc Rachel doesn’t go through. Does that mean I excuse everything Santana did? No, not at all.
@@lenaertsjelke Huh Rachel for sure has been self aware and does try to do better. The differences the club excuse Santana but not Rachel ever then they say they accept people for who they are. I mean she has said I know who I am, she said I know people don't like me. People just ignore when Rachel says things like that or when she does nice things.
@@lenaertsjelke Rachel goes through that a does mature but has set back just like Santana does. In season 6 Santana is still ranting and insulting people. Literally the last season shows Rachel giving back to the glee club and one of the last things we see Rachel do is a completely selfless act of being a surrogate.
Haha I always thought the same thing when Kurt left the warblers when he did and went back to the new directions lol. I'm glad I'm not alone for that thought lol.
kurt left new directions in the first place because he felt unsafe in the school environment because of K(don't remeber how to spell his name out) but now that he's somewhat out of the picture and being nice even if kurt knows it's only because he's being blackmailed by Santana he still goes back to WMHS because he misses his friends and didn't really fit in at Dalton Academy
@@E_btsot798 I know. 🙂 still felt that way because of the timing lol. But yes I'm 100% aware of why he left and everything. Plus I was like half joking anyway.
Little gay, overweight me cried soso much when this first aired. Like this episode in specific meant the god damn world for me back then. Seems like nothing nowadays bc u can even find those issues better portrayed, but this was such a first for those times. And so important 😢
Your reactions literally are the only thing I look forward too in the day. If you want another show to react to you should watch Dare Me on USA. It’s has heavy Euphoria vibes
Did Santana really had to blackmail Karovsky to date her? Even if he was gay, and they didn´t get along, she would be the perfect excuse for him to look cooler or manlier.
i honestly hate how much he just hates on one person just because he has a pre conceived notion about them. like ever since lauren was introduced he never gave her a chance
hdhssj shut up, if glee was still airing they'd FOR SURE do an episode on BTS, knowing this show they would have tina and mike do a duet lmao maybe fake love or bwl as a group... (and okay but imagine the warblers covering a bts song tho. chills... THE TRUTH UNTOLD!!! omg)
Santana made a racist comment and tried to blackmail karofsky. And he is just like „ok“ with any other character he would have been „trash, trash character“ lol
Sparrows S she still blackmailed him. She made racist and fat shamming comments (there is more to come). She is just mean. Ik because she is suppost to be the bitch, People don’t take it to serious, but it’s still not ok what she says. Would other characters say shit like she does, everyone would be hating on them. When kurt made the comment about bi People, he was like „trash, trash character“ says Santana worse shit, he is like „ok, whatever“ everyone loves Santana and ignores how bad her character actually is, because the actress is hot. Annyoing lol
@@hethkloooholla2415 *SPOILERS FOR S3* no its not because of that. Santana may have said shit that was offensive but she was never going to out him. I have seen so much more hate on Santana than Kurt, idk what your talking about. Santana was outed by Finn in s3 and nobody cancels him for that? Santana has to cut off her relationship with her abuela because of him and the whole outing situation. Santana wouldn't out Karofsky, she says crap but never goes through with it, thats her character. She even admits to it. Santana is the most developed character on the show and has been through so much. If you paid attention, everything she said and did was to protect herself and in the end she couldn't, because she was outed to everyone. Santana is flawed, yes, but she does everything for a reason. She might be a bitch, but she had a reason too, I would be too living in constant fear of being outed or being talked about being my back, Santana was in constant fear. Lets be real here, 85% of the glee fandom are female, so no, most of the fandom doesn't think she is hot. They like her because she is a good character, the most well developed on the show. I know your not going to agree with me because you already have an opinion, but just know people cancel Kurt because of his biphobia, he's supposed to represent a member of the lgbtq community and him bringing a sexuality of a major part of the lgbtq community is going to upset a lot of people, the bisexual people who looked up to Kurt who just said negative comments about their own sexuality. Santana may have said some shit, but she didn't mean half of it. Kurt meant what he said, so he was "cancelled" but not really because a majority of people prefer him over every other character and prefer male characters over female characters and dismiss everything male characters on the show do cause they are attractive.
K90_ 2019 nah, i‘m still gonna watch them :) just because i don’t Agree with him, doens’t mean i don’t like the reactions, you genius. And yes, it’s clearly that he has a preference with Santana, because she is hot lol
Cazzies Griffin you litteraly spoiled shit, so hope he doens’t read this comment lol. She had it coming, she deserved the outing. Oh, so it’s ok for her to be mean, because it’s her character? Santana made fatshamming, racist, and so much more offensive comments. Kurt said something about bi people, yeah. But Santana litteraly did too, later on the show, when she was out lol. Kurt also had a shitty life. He got bullied (even from Santana came homophobic comments). He just had it as shitty as Santana (when not more) and he isn’t a mean bitch to everyone without a reason. Just because you have a complicated life, doens’t mean you can threat everyone like trash. Also you‘re comment doens’t make sense, since she is in the later seasons (when she was out) just as bitchy as she is in season 1,2,3. character development? Yeah no. Great character? No. Also female still can think that she is hot lol
I agree with Santana though Not the racist comment but literally everyone in this show was at least a little racist But if there’s something you don’t like about yourself I think you should change it
I aM of course If you’re a child don’t get plastic surgery And if it’s not from within you and you’re unhappiness comes from others don’t do it I’m just saying if something makes you unhappy and you can change it so that looking at yourself makes you not feel bad then go for it
@@saracoutinho3398 but then it becomes a cycle of unhappiness because think if a person does something like change a part of themselves because they were unhappy with it (like rachel's nose for example) she could be happy about the fact that she's a newer person because of the change but then later feel insecure once again because of the fact her nose isn't real and people look down on plastic surgery (especially during the time the show was airing) and become insecure all overagain and the cycle continues... just a thought.
I hate that people act like if getting a nose job is the worst thing in the world in this episode. I mean, we should accept ourselves, but if it is something so simple, there's no problem in changing it, especially since she already needed to go through surgery. There's a famous brazilian youtuber who talks a lot about it. He had strabismus and spent years not wanting the surgery because it would mean that he didn't accept himself. When he finally did it, he said he was 1000x more confident than before
I always thought that it was bullshit when Kurt transferred back to McKinley litterally a couple of episodes after he lost. Kurts return back to New Directions didn’t make sense to me and it felt like he did it just so that he could get into the winning team 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
your reactions are so negative and it sucks this episode was about loving your flaws and the whole reaction is you saying something negative unless it was about Blaine and the warblers
