I am in love with everything this man does. This sounds so much like a Portishead song, anyone? Anyway I can not wait to soak this album up while I swim, sleep, dream, run, walk, love.

This song scares me, in a wonderful and timeless way. It shocks me, and soothes my soul all at the same time. I'm eager to hear it again, yet when it begins I nearly dread it - I know it's heavy deep and gorgeous and I must pay attention. I can barely watch the video because I end up gasping inwards. The camera works adds such character to an already already filled with character song. Breathless. Seriously.

This is my new favorite song. I just heard it for the first time this morning and I have heard it at least 30 times already.

Glen is one of very few true artistS out there in our world. This is just beyond amazing, THANK YOU GLEN!

I'm pretty sure Glen wanted to marry her (2007 EW: "I felt that even back then this girl had become so prominent in my life that she would probably be the girl I'd marry one day"). I wonder at the lyric: "she never said goodbye, only see you later, while I'm making this a plan for you". Haha really now?... At first I thought "this better not be about Marketa" (even though 'philander' usually means a man), because, hey, she was probably too young to really know what she really wanted! haha

You can't go wrong with ANY of them. They're all masterpieces. Fitzcarraldo (The Frames), Strict Joy, and Rhythm and Repose are particularly fantastic, though.

"Once" sent me here. Such an amazing film. I respect this artist more than any other.

This is so brilliant, but I'm sure none of us are surprised, it's Glen. It's amazing how this song weaves through different phases of grief, denial, anger, acceptance (the last time he sings "I'm always gonna love you" he smiles, weakly.. so heartbreaking yet mildly reassuring. And the music parallels the changing phases of grief. Both the video and the song are truly genius, beautifully dark and haunting. A true work of art from a true artist. Glen, you never cease to astound and inspire.

Crazy he wrote something this deep 20 years ago. So glad he put it out.

He uses them to pick. Classical guitarist grow them. It makes their tone better. I play classical guitar and I never use a pick I strum with the back of my first fingernail.

He said it's a song he wrote about 20 years ago, and he re-worked it and finally released it. He said he hadn't thought about it in years, and it came to him while he was in the studio.

quite awesome. few americans know of Glen's greatness so I am one of the lucky ones. I appreciate real music, real singers real emotion. the commercial music today is mostly full of un-talented nonsense.............

it will be his first solo album. You can check "The Frames" band and "The Swell Season" also. "The Cost" and "Dance the Devil" from frames are cool And "Strict Joy" from swell season too in this two bands he is frontman and songwriter

There's something very insincere in this songs sincerity. Sorry but I don't quite believe it.

I do this too but it isn't good for the nails. Strumming with fingernails gradually make them thinner and weaker, eventually causing them to break.

during the whole song i was waiting Glen to start screaming or some kind of a higher point. after it finished i understood it didn't matter and that gave me a huge number of feelings. i'm still waiting for a culmination but now in album. he has truly put a spell but in a completely different way than before.

He says he wrote the song when he was 18 about his first girlfriend, but he did say he changed some lyrics when he recorded it. I think his songs have multiple meanings, but that Marketa makes her way into a lot of them even as just inspiration, even if he doesn't say so.
