Are you trying to get Global Entry (or interesting in applying soon) and wondering how and when you will need to do your final interview? If so, then check out the new Enrollment on Arrival option. This process allows you to complete you interview when returning from an international trip, assuming that you have conditional approval and are at one of the 39 locations offering the service (as of May 2018).
In this video, we review the process and discuss some tips to consider.

I had traveled to London back in April ‘23, and had signed up for global entry, I didn’t even know about the interview on arrival was an option, when I had landed back at JFK, the customs officer asked if I like to do it today, was honestly quick, and within just a few days I already gotten the approval and waited for my card, I used global entry first time in June upon arrival and was shocked how fast I was done, my bags took longer than me😂

Still debating whether to wait to get the Chase Sapphire Reserve (or Amex Platinum) and use their Global Entry reimbursement credit, or to get NEXUS instead. In the meantime, I have Mobile Passport on my phone. PS: It's 7 June 2018 and you made it to five thousand subscribers! Congratulations! Now onwards to 10K!
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 лет назад
That's a tough dilemma. NEXUS seems like an awesome program, especially if you spend a lot of time in Canada. I actually know some folks that got NEXUS over Global Entry since it covers kids under 18 years old in your household (unlike Global Entry that requires everyone to have applied). In fact, I might want to add that topic to our video pipeline. 😉 Thanks again for all your support! We are super excited about getting to 5K subscribers. 😊

Thank you so much for this video as this is the first I have heard anyone talking about the enrollment in Canada options. Thanks for this great video. Do you know if the 2nd id you need to take along with your passport has to be government issued from the same country as your passport? I have a UK passport but currently live in New Zealand. I have a a New zealand photo drivers licence but I do not have another form of ID from the UK Thanks in advance
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 5 лет назад
To be honest, I'm not sure. The website doesn't specify the type of ID, but I would try to bring one that matches your country of residence (if possible). Also, on a side note, you may want to double check the requirements for UK citizens applying for Global Entry. It's a bit more complicated, and may not be worth the trouble unless you travel to the US often. In case you need it, here's the CBP page on it: www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/international-arrangements/registered-traveller/citizens-united-kingdom My partner (who is British) just went through the process, and absolutely loves the convenience of getting through US Customs and Immigration quickly at the airport. Though she lives in the US, so getting Global Entry was a lot easier for her. 😊

That is correct. Though I would check the Global Entry page just to make sure that they are still open and staffed. I’ve heard that some staff has been redirected to the border due to the recent events (though I think it only affects US CBP offices in the Southwest). 😬

@@TripAstute - Thanks much! I called and they are staffed. The one thing I think would be helpful for people to know is that if they are very busy in customs due to volume, they will stop doing the Enrollment on Arrival, so there is always the chance that it isn't being done. That said, there is no way of knowing ahead of time, so you're taking a small risk (don't expect to do it on a Monday morning, per the agent).

Curious about how much time global entry saves? I have never been out of the country before so I’m not sure it’s worth it. What’s it like without global entry?
@lucchese20
@lucchese20 Год назад
Time you save depends on the airport and time of arrival. If you arrive when many international flights arrive at your airport, the time savings can be significant. For example, Miami Airport gets a lot of flights from South America early in the morning. SFO gets a lot of flight arrivals from Asia and Europe in the early afternoon. If your flight arrives when not many international flights are also arriving, the time you save will not be much. If you’ve never taken an international flight to the US, I suggest seeing for yourself and then deciding if Global Entry is worthwhile. Sorry for the long answer…it really depends on your airport and time of arrival. 👍🏻

Thanks Katy! I don't think you can use both programs at the same time (i.e., you can only enter using one or the other). Though you can still use Mobile Passport if you have Global Entry. In fact, I've heard of people with Global Entry preparing their Mobile Passport info for submission when arriving in case the Global Entry line is long. In terms of how long it takes to get through the Global Entry Enrollment on Arrival, it's really hard to say. For what I've seen online, most are reporting that the actual interview and fingerprints only take 5-10 minutes. Though, if there is a line of folks ahead of you, it could really add up! Here's a FlyerTalk thread where people have shared their experience (see post #59): www.flyertalk.com/forum/trusted-travelers/1853696-global-entry-enrollment-arrival-4.html My recommendation would be to only go through the Enrollment on Arrival if you don't have a tight connecting flight. Do you have to do the regular customs process before the EOA interview or do you go directly to the EOA interview area? And just a reminder that Pre-Check is airline dependent, not automatic. Supposedly Qantas does not participate. There are other foreign carriers who don't. But if you wait for EOA, I don't think your Pre-Check won't be good on your outbound flight. I got a question for you now. Do I get the 300 travel credit with CSR the moment I get the card? or I have to wait a year?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 лет назад
The $300 annual travel credit on the Sapphire Reserve is available immediately, and you don't have to spend it all at once (i.e., Chase automatically credits your account for travel expenses up to $300, and they are pretty liberal on what they classify as travel). Your strategy with the Sapphire Preferred sounds pretty good. Just be cautious of Chase 5/24 (can't have applied for more than 5 cards in the last 24 months) and 2/30 rule (no more than 2 Chase cards in 30 days). For the most part, I recommend that people apply for credit cards every 90 days. You can apply for more than one at a time (as long they are from different issuers), but I would only do it every 3 months to avoid the excessive credit inquiries (and any red flags from the issuers). 😊

Trip Astute thanks for replying back. I will actually call chase to make sure I'm ok doing that and to see if I can upgrade before the year. I dont have any credit card from chase yet so I think I should be good. I have total of 4 credit cards now from discover 2from BoA and capital one. And my credit score is over 750 so I think I qualified for either one

Lets just say i dont wanna wait 6 months for an available appointment, would i be able to purchase a flight ticket lets say to mexico and on my way back to the us do the EOA to get my global entry approved much faster? Curious if this is possible while it might cost me something still to do
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 2 года назад
It's definitely possible. However, I wouldn't give up hope on scheduling an earlier appointment. When I went through the process, I kept going back to the appointment scheduling page every day until I came across new appointments that were sooner (i.e., like the next day). It definitely pays to check back and see if there are any new open slots.

@ginamorfe810
@ginamorfe810 5 лет назад
Here is what is on one of our CA letter. It may be different on some. You must bring the following original documents with you to the enrollment center: * A valid passport. If you travel using more than one passport, please bring them to the interview so that the information can be added to your file. This provides you with the ability to use either passport at the Global Entry kiosk; * A permanent resident card (if applicable); * Documents providing evidence of residency. Examples are: driver's license (if the address is current), mortgage statement, rental payment statement, utility bill, etc.

Where can I see what airports in USA participate in enrollment on arrival? Thanks, trying to plan a trip around that, also do you need to arrive from an international flight? Or can it be domestic as well

It only works for international flights into the US (i.e., you can't do it using domestic flights).

I'm not exactly sure, but I would probably say no. From what I've heard, they seem to be fairly strict about guests being in the line. 😬

When do you receive your known traveler number? I got conditionally approved and have a pass ID number. Is that the same as the known traveler number?

The Pass ID should be your Known Traveler Number. Though I don't think it's officially active until you complete the final interview.

Can you wait overnight until global entry opens since my flight arrives right when they close?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 2 года назад
In theory, probably yes. However, I wouldn't recommend it. Your time is probably more valuable than waiting at the airport. Plus, most airports segment their customs and immigration areas, so they often don't have any amenities or stores.

So confuse with this program.. I did my application for the global entry paid 100.00 that was in Sept 17/2019. I keep checking website to see if i was approved. But keeps saying reviewing application.pending.so question is..am I supposed to make an appt evn if application still pending? Or i have to wait till gets approve then interview?. I actually have an appt for 12/4. But i dont know if i should keep it since still says pending application..i have a flight here from NYC to key west 11/28..can I go to JFK airport for interview before 11/28..evn thou application says pending? am us citizen help pls.. thank u

If I remember correctly, my application wasn't approved until I completed the interview. You can definitely try dropping in to the JFK Airport office to see if they can accommodate you. Also, I recommend checking the appointment website to see if anything opens up earlier.

You should be able to get it since Global Entry also applies to specific land border crossing areas. I've never actually used it when crossing the border, but it supposedly works at SENTRI and NEXUS travel lanes. 😊

It will probably depend on the length of the line, thought the interview itself is rarely quick. From what I've heard, it's about 15-20 minutes for most people.

In my experience, the turnaround time for conditional approval is fairly quick. However, with the pandemic, I wouldn’t be surprised if things are a bit delayed. In the past, it’s taken about 2 weeks for my wife and me to get the approval (pending interview).

Hi, I live in Canada. What's the difference between Nexus and Global Entry?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 5 лет назад
It's quite confusing since both programs are similar. Nexus allows you to have expedited entry to and from Canada and the US, while Global Entry allows expedited entry into the US only at most international entry points. Global Entry is more expensive too, but it includes TSA PreCheck as part of the enrollment fee.
@leroybigs97
@leroybigs97 5 лет назад
@@TripAstute hi thank you for the reply. Let's say I'm travel back to the USA but I came from lets say Jamaica. Could I still use my Nexus? And don't Nexus includes the TSA pre?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 5 лет назад
Sorry, I was wrong! You are correct -- Nexus does include TSA PreCheck. Here's a handy chart that I found from DHS: www.dhs.gov/trusted-traveler-programs-comparison-chart And according to the chart, it looks like you have access to the Global Entry lines at the airport, so in theory, you should be able to use Nexus when traveling back to the US from Jamaica.
