I’m a Glock guy too, still, I own both, my carry more often than not is my compact. I think the Smith is just more pointable, natural point of aim. I’ll never not own both, if I had to pick one, and this is mag compatibility aside, I’d pick the 2.0. It’s close, but I’d give it to S&W
Recently bought the 2.0 and I wouldn't trade it for the world. With big hands, the extra back straps made the fit super snug. As my CCW i have no problems with the aggressive grip scratching me as some have reported. I sent hundreds of rounds down range with both of these weapons before settling on the SW M&P 2.0 9mm
I personally think that the 2.0 Compact was the most successful new model rollout in a while. No bugs at all. I can’t even say that about the early production P10c I have and I really love CZ products as a whole. I’m also thrilled that an American owned & assembled M&P has grown into a world class reliable pistol. America can compete with anyone when the playing field is level.
it's 4 years in the future and I just got a compact for $400. It's still one of the top few guns on the market and has better grip angle, texture, better sights, looks better is equally reliable, has a lifetime warranty and is $100-$200 cheaper than a Glock 19.
I love my 2.0c. I put in the Apex deluxe kit where you can adjust the trigger pull with the curved trigger. I also got rid of the non adjustable sights. This is one of my favorite guns to shoot for accuracy. I have H&K's as well as Glocks but S&W did a great job on this gun.
After having issued Glocks for over 20 years, I finally admitted that I didn't really like the ergos of Glocks. I sold off every Glock I owned except one G19. I do have multiple PSA Daggers and P80 pistols because I find the ergos better on those than Glocks. All that said, my daily carry is now a M&P 9 2.0 3.6" model. For me the M&P is absolutely perfect.
I owned a gen 5 glock 23 a few years back, good gun. I currently have an m&p 2.0, I definitely like the m&p more. Back straps on the m&p are easy to install, Glock back straps are a pain in the ass to install.
Great video. I never dreamed anything but a glock would serve as my EDC..until i sent the first 15 rounds down range from an m&p 2.0 compact. They're both wonderful guns but this 2.0c is everything I wanted it to be and more. Great video KS. Keep it up.
My brother had me tag along to help with his first purchase I asked the gun store if they had a bore sight. He picked up the Glock 19 and pointed at a target. Then when he felt the M&P over the Glock he was shocked. Once he presented he was closer on target. He fell in love. With a Mod 2 sub compact. That’s still a nice shooter, and the price was $400 new, couldn’t beat it.
Was happy to get rid of my M&P (1st gen model) and now have a Glock as my duty gun. My Springfield SS Champion 1911 is my favorite. But heavy to lug around. After getting used to a nice 1911 trigger all other pistol triggers really suck no matter what you do. I would trust my life to either gun.
Great video. Well thought out. You covered everything I needed to know. I Just purchased a 2.0. I'm looking forward to having a good time at the range. Thanks.
M&P’s grip angle are just much more comfortable than the Glock’s. M&P looks 1000% better. M&P has metal sights, guide rod and magazine, as supposed to Glock’s which are all plastic. Glock’s hideous sight picture is another turn off as well lol. The winner is very clear :) Great video btw!
Sounds like you can't go wrong with either firearm. I rented a glock 19 at a indoor range and it fit pretty comfortable on my large size hands and liked it's shootability. Unfortunately there was no M&P 2.0 available for comparison. Both pistols look similar in price online, $50 difference one way or the other.
I agree. I own both and after leaving the glock in the safe for a couple months and shooting the m&p , I pulled the glock out and it feels horrible( ergonomics) and I am shooting the m&p much better.. now if smith and Wesson would just offer the apex trigger from the factory..
Well said! I agree, after being away from the G43 for a period of time, then coming back to it, it just doesn't feel as good in the hand. Thank you and cheers!
white man from town I agree. I can’t believe with so much online about people putting Apex in their MP pistols, SW should just buy Apex and install them from the get go.
The M&P 2.0 now come with a completely different trigger now. It is now a flat face trigger and it's amazingly good trigger out of the box. It's better than the Gen 1 M&P Apex trigger imo.
As of right now I still have not even held the Gen5 but I sure do love the 2.0. I have 3 of them already and was actually looking at a 4th. Another great review brother, and that was some nice shooting too!
Wow 3! That’s awesome Fu! I agree, they are great shooters for sure. As for the Gen 5, it’s good but I think the Gen 4 is great and cheaper! Thank you and cheers brother!
I’ve had a 4.5” XDm for years and love it. Always wanted a 19 and the time was right with the Gen 5 being a lefty and it became my favorite really fast. It’s the MOS with a 407k on it. Recently picked up a 2.0 4.25” with the thumb safety (I’m a 1911 guy so it made sense to me). Anyhow these 3 pistols rounded up my ultimate polymer 9mm collection. Finally took the 2.0 out today and I was blown away. I still love my 19 but the 2.0 just may replace it as my daily carry gun in the big rig. The XDm however has become the nightstand gun and probably will never shoot it again but the wife loves it in the nightstand so there it will stay. She’s comfortable with it
Great review as usual. I think between these two and the P-10C, it really comes down to personal preference. I like my 2.0 the best, honestly just because I like the looks of the M&P's better. Mine will hopefully be getting an Apex as well! Thanks for the video
The only thing keeping me from the 2.0 compact is the fact I can completely detail strip a Glock 19 with nothing but a punch for frame pins. And the aftermarket support (gen 3) is out of this world. I also do frame work on glocks.
Another good review KS. You do a great job of comparing guns features and benefits. I have the Glock 19 gen 4 and not going to gen 5. Not enough difference for me. I also have the new S&W M&P9 2.0. Like the M&P more than I thought I would. Great gun. My pick over the Glock and many others.
Thank you very much Randy! I too prefer the Gen 4. I like that you can MOD it more and the price is much better. Thank you as always and cheers brother!
I’ve kinda fallen of the Glock wagon when I picked up the M&P 2.0 9mm compact. It has a lot of great features on it that Glock kinda lacks. Like the textured contoured grip. It fix my hand perfectly! There’s more I could say, but will leave it at that for now. I have been reading other posts saying the M&P 2.0 is the Glock Killer. I’m beginning to believe it.
You made this post a year ago and claimed the 2.0 would be a “Glock killer.” As of July 2021, Glock sales out pace the M&P 2.0 by 4:1. Glock is still dominating in world wide sales. Don’t get me wrong, I love both brands, but Glock still wins in popularity with people.
@@colt10mmsecurity68 unless Laser guns are released in the near future, I honestly think Glock is too big to fail at this point. Too many people grew up shooting it/had decades of experience with Glocks, they're always in stock, police and military all over the world use them, it's popular in the entertainment industry, and the aftermarket support/services are unmatched. Even with better stock pistols that have more features or have better aspects like the M&P, CZ P10, FN 509, Sig P320, Walther PDP, and so forth, people will still gravitate towards Glocks and it will never be killed. Microcompacts are selling like hotcakes, but the Glock 43, 43x, and 48 are still some of the top sellers even with less capacity and being larger. People living in places like California with gun restrictions almost exclusively carry Glocks too.
@@JacksonWalter735 -- If popularity is the criterion, yes, Glock wins, but I would like to make this point: Glock has decades of production and 5 generations of their design... that said, there is absolutely no excuse for a Glock not being the most ergonomic pistol with the best grip texture, the best sights and controls, and the best stock trigger. There is no excuse for "Glock knuckle" on a 5th generation gun. When the Canik has a better trigger than a Glock at the Canik's price point... and the CZ P-10C is more refined than a 5th generation G-19... and you can have an M&P 2.0C WITH Apex trigger kit installed for the price of a Glock... it's folly to claim that Glock makes the best guns. Is this really a popularity contest?
@@HalfCrazy520 I agree with all of that and am highly critical of Glock for charging their prices that they do while putting out the products that they do. Unfortunately most people will still choose a Glock though so Glock won't feel compelled to innovate or change more.
Both are worthy guns. S&W 2.0 is a great deal comparatively. I feel like both are better with a trigger upgrade. The Smith's trigger is better out if the box in the 2.0s IMHO.
Thank you InSight! I agree, they are both great guns. Both do excel with some minor tweaking which turned out to be a lot of fun for this edition. I prefer Glock triggers out of the box but I may be in the minority there! Thank you as always and cheers brother!
I love my 2.0 Compact. Thankfully, I got the newer version with the optics-ready mounting plates. While I didn't use the factory plates, the gun just comes so feature-rich. I love how robust it is and how it just has such a natural point of aim. I now have just completely tricked it out. My favorites are the factory sights and new style triggers. This is everything I've thrown on this gun since I know some will be interested. Good review. I chose the Glock 19 Gen 5 as my first Glock to buy. I have owned M&P's Sig's and Beretta's and mostly over the past few years have been a revolver shooter with .38 Special/.357 Mag. I recently decided to go back to a semi-auto and looked at the M&P 2.0, CZ and others. I rented both the Gen 4 and Gen 5 19's at my local range and decided that I liked the Gen 5 better. I have never owned a Glock so this is my first time with this gun and I love it. It feels great in my hand and I shoot it well. I'm now considering getting the Glock 17 as a new home defense gun to replace my 6-round .357 Mag Ruger. Thank you for the informative videos.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you are liking the gen 5. Aside from a couple of quirks, I really like it too. Probably one of the better Glock triggers out there which is exciting. Cheers!
Hi: I went to the range yesterday and used my M&P for the first time. It jammed every other shot and the next round wouldn't load. sometimes the brass wouldn't eject. Any Ideas? Could it be the ammo? My gun dealer threw in a case of Blazer Brass. Much appreciated, I'm going to try shooting again today to see if this situation repeats. Thanks!
Both are great guns, I was issued the M&P in the academy (Lapd) but I also love Glock’s. I think ergonomics go to the m&p but I love those 33 round Glock mags.
Wow, KS! I can't believe I'm watching this video five months after the fact!!! It's one that I was looking forward to seeing you do and actually suggested it to you (if you remember) back in Nov. 2017. You thought it was a good idea and would make it happen, soon. Hey, it got you 26K views! So, I guess it was worthwhile after it's all said and done. I said all of that, just to thank you for following through and for doing this video. Great job, I enjoyed it! I agree, the M&P M2.0C wins by a nose. I own both the G19 Gen4 and the M2.0C, and I enjoy them both, but for me it's the ergos and in hand feel that gives it the win, IMHO. Six months later, my opinion hasn't changed. What about yours? Again, thanks for the vid, KS! I appreciate you getting it out there. I apologize for not seeing it sooner! 😎👍🏻🇺🇸💥
Thank you very much MileHigh! I do remember the suggestion and it's much appreciated. As for what I think now,... same outcome, though either one are 100% fine choices. You really can't go wrong regardless of which camp you fall into. Cheers brother!
I totally agree with your conclusion, and even with the original trigger, it is much better than the Glock. In Isreal, you are permitted to own only one pistol so I have tested a lot of deferent kinds and at the end, since (as you said - "I Could Only Have One"), I chose the M&P 2.0C.
Both are fine guns and I would trust my life to either gun. I personally am a M&P person. I own 5 of them. (including the M&P 2.0 Compact) I have shot alot of the Glock models (17, 19X, 19, 21, 23, 26, 40, and 43) My personal favorite is the 19X because I have large hands. I agree that changing the sights out to a good metal combat sight is a good idea, beyond that, I am not a fan of modifying a carry/self defense gun for a couple of reasons: The manufacturer knows best what combination of components work for safety, reliability and function and anytime you alter the mechanical components of the gun,you are possibly sacrificing said safety, reliability or function. Another good reason not to do it is if you actually have to use the gun to defend your life, it and every round you fired will be in the hands of a court that decides whether you are justified or prosecuted for your decision to use deadly force. How would you like a DA to say something like, “Mr Jones, isn’t it true you installed a better trigger in the gun to make it easier for you to hit your target, which in this case was the deceased ? “ I don’t reload defensive ammo for the same reason. Train, shoot the gun, learn to use the gun as it came from the manufacturer. The trigger will smooth out as you use the gun and you will become used to it as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HdcBtOI7PTE.html
Well I would not say it works like that. A manufacturer is limited to what the price he wants to sell the gun mays includes in terms of specifications. Nothing to do with te reliability or even safety. An Apex trigger improves the gun with no loss of any of that, for example. They are not crazy. A trial for the loss of safety or reliability would cost them too much. Anyway, you won't have any DA who will tell you that your gun was technically so bad that you had no chance at all to hit (or kill) anyone, so why did you even carry it in the first place.
the DA will say the same about the sights and everything else regardless of your gun/mod choice, and the honest answer is "yes, I would like to be more reliable with my home defense weapon incase of such emergency"...etc, a revolver tends to be the most favorable weapon in the eye of the DA in my opinion (but I do agree with the reliability concerns of changing a trigger unless you know exactly how the internals operate).
@@MrPhillyval thanks for clarifying that nonsense none of what he said is factual. Just repeating what he’s been told. Think for yourself. Trigger upgrades almost always lead to better accuracy how this works against you in court in a justifiable defensive shooting from a legal Firearms owner is just not true
Excellent review, the best I've seen so far. I love my Gen 4 Glock 19 and carried it since it first came out. However, the new M&P 2.0 has surpassed Glock in many ways and so my new EDC is my 2.0. Also, the new Gen 5 is not good in my opinion. I believe the Gen 4 and even Gen 3 are better.
I plan on uploading a video about my experience with both. In short, bought both a few months back. Today, only my 2.0c remains. This Gen 5 is probably the first Glock that I did not like at all, which is surprising since I own quite a few other Glocks.
Another great versus video KS. And I say that as someone who is definitely not a Glock fan. And is meh to the M&P. Especially the 2.0. However of the 2 I'd have to go with the M&P. Yes my bias against Glock played deeply into my choice. Thumbs up brother. Oh and Merry Christmas to you!
Thank you Matteo! It was a pretty level playing field for this one and both have their pros and cons. I'm with you though, the 2.0C has really made me a believer. Especially with the Apex trigger, it just runs like a clock. Have a fun and safe holiday brother! Cheers
I kinds want a M&P 2.0 to go with my first gen full size, compact and shield. I went M&P personally due to comfort and looks. Both guns are soooooo Brilliant
I do like the Glock 19, but the Smith M&P 2.0 is definitely a better out-of-the box handgun for quite a bit less money! Thanks for another great comparison video KS 👍🏼
Great review as always. I finally got a chance to hold one of the new 2.0 compacts at my local gun shop. It feels nice but I feel like with a high thumbs forward grip the slide might get me where a traditional thumb safety would be located. I basically have bear paws. Guess I'll have to adjust my grip because this new m&p is awesome. Not gonna lie, I miss the beavertail though.
it'd be nice to see S&W add a new model by offering a shortened the Compact, by even 2-3 more rounds, down to the size of the old Compact w/ 12 round mag....(slightly bigger than a GLock 26) Call it the MIcro or SubCompact, whatever.... They already had 12 round mags engineered for the older M&P pistols...
Hey KS, Just got the Glock 19 Gen 5. I had moved away from the Glock 19 for a while. Always loved the Gen 4. Been through the CZ P10 C but never owned a Smith and Wesson. Shot a few. When I recently picked up the Gen 5 G19 it was like bumping in to a long list love... well almost. Had to get back together with the Glock but all said I've never really met a gun I didn't like. Although some are obviously more likable than others. I also just bought a B&T GHM 9. Can't wait to get it in. Happy Thanksgiving KS!
M&P 2.0C is my CCW and I’m more than happy to depend my life on it. So far around 2,000 rounds through it without any parts breakage. Something else that can be mentioned as of 2023, the availability of mags and parts has been catching up to Glock as well (a factor when I’m shopping guns). Even at gun/outdoor stores in my area, I see more M&P mags on the racks than CZ, HK, Canik etc.
2.0 is my favorite gun to date....other than my old python (apples to oranges?). anyway, I'm still amazed when I handle mine because of grip, balance and the trigger is better than I thought it would be although I haven't mind the MP triggers other than a little grittiness
I am leaning to the S&W...Nice comparison vid as you give some info I don't see from others so I always learn something...It comes down to personal preference for sure as either is a good choice...Good stuff....
I've been seriously considering a G19 Gen 5 for a few reasons. 1. Glock is proven to be highly reliable. 2. Access to parts is plentiful, easy, and inexpensive. 3. Mags are inexpensive compared to most others. 4. TONS of aftermarket options. That said, the M&P has proven it's worth in a crowded market. I was disappointed in their customer service, though. The 2.0 looks great but I don't like the white lettering on the right side, nor do I like the busy look of the controls on the left. The cutouts above the rail don't help either. I like a clean look. Functionally, but the 2.0 Compact and the G19 Gen 5 are great. Your video is great, but I am still at a standstill as to which one I'd like to go with.
I bought my wife a used mp only because it was mint, it had the original packing grease and no wear marks on the internals for 300. Shot it and I was really impressed. I like it, way more then my glocks.
Took my M&P 2.0 Compact to the range yesterday and went through about 500 rounds (450 range and 50 defense). Really impressed with how well it works for me for precision shooting. During rapid fire I tend to track down a bit, but that’s my own issue with slapping the trigger. I was able to mitigate that when I concentrated on the trigger reset, so it’s a training issue for me. Gotta say the 2.0 Compact is a great carry option and recently made its way into my EDC... it’s bigger FDE 5” brother spoiled me a bit though at the range throughout the year. That thing is a great tack driver. Love that I can use those mags in my compact though. Smith has some real winners in the 2.0 lineup!
@@whoshotya117 I was just about to say this. The stock trigger on the 2.0 is worlds better than the original M&P, but an aftermarket trigger like an Apex trigger is so much better.
Definitely was not expecting you to say you'd take the m&p over the 19. I personally prefer the m&p over the 19 because the grip is better and it's prettier
Other manufacturers haven't been as successful as S&W in offering palm swell grips that actually offer different widths on their service size pistols. Agree with the video.
I shoot both for competition. I had to change the trigger on the glock went with the Vogel trigger and it's a very nice trigger and priced right. The glock trigger hurts my finger about 50 rounds in. The m&p is still stock and I've never had an issue with the hinged trigger. Put Dawson sights on both and they work very well for competition. However for carry I'd go with the m&p in fact I carry a shield in 40 but I am going to buy the new 43x . And as you said you can't go wrong with either of these firearms. Great review and keep them coming!
Very Nice Detailed Comparison as Always Brother! I would definitely choose the M&P Compact! They look very nice the way you have them set up! Merry Christmas, Carry On
This is one I can honestly say I couldn't choose 1 over the other. Im blessed to own both and it would be like choosing which brand of bottled water is my favourite Lol! They are both that Good.
Definitely one of the hardest ones I've done! I love them both as well, though I admit, I prefer the Gen 4 over Gen 5. Thank you for watching and cheers!
I got an M&P 2.0 full size 5' and I absolutely love it. Only thing that's kinda throwing me off is that when cleaning and reassembling, the slide can sometimes be a bit of a pain to get back on right. Might just be me though. Like when I pull it back it doesn't sit right as if I didn't line it up right, and I have to take it off and put it on again.
I like both guns but out of the box for the money id pick they m&p 9 compact 2.0 over the glock 19. I have a m&p 9 shield 2.0 9mm love it for a single stack pistol. next on my list is the compact 9mm. One thing I hate about glock out of the box is its cheap plastic sights no reason i should pay that much for a firearm and the sights be plastic.
Good job as usual KS...both great guns...but ...I just love the ergos on the 2.0 and that rough textured grip...the trigger is good on the 2.0 but the ergos are great..the gun is not going anywhere once you have it on target...also doesn't hurt you buying American...
I wish I had stuck with him and P or maybe a CZ instead of opting for the P365 XL at this point. Fresh out of the box with a brand new battery the optic does not work. Maybe I should’ve bought the optic as a separate component. But I went with the package deal and then took the hit for a couple extra full-size magazines. At least it’s not totally useless at this point in the thing feels great in my hand. But I was so excited to try out the new Romeo zero, and I don’t get to do that today.
