Glock Extended Slide Stop Lever Release Install (HD+Quick) 

I tried watching Lenny Magill's/Glockstore install video and it was 15 minutes of diarrhea of the mouth and unwatchable. I found your video which is 4 minutes and very effective/well explained. Thumbs up for getting to the point.

TEN STARS Another quality video that gets you the information you need, direct and to the point without unnecessary talking. I had NEVER done anything to my Glock except stood down for cleaning. I was able to replace the slide release in 3 minutes thanks to PewPew

May I suggest you simply tap or push the lower (larger) diameter pin PARTIALLY out. Literally, just enough that you can pull the slide release out of the grip assembly. Then slide the new release (Glock OEM, Ghost Bullet, or Sure Touch) back into position, exactly like how you observed the original one was installed. Then move the pin back into position slowly, while wiggling the new release, until the pin makes its way into that hole you see in the release. Once the pin has moved into the hole, and the release will move up and down nicely, flip the gun over, and tap the pin back into that "slightly recessed" position. Thanks for posting this video! Excellent video, nothing extraneous and nothing left out. Took me about 5 minutes to change out the slide release on my Glock 26 for an extended version with no problems and having never done it before. I also replaced the mag release with an extended version on both my 26 and 17, using your other video for instruction. Both guns operate much better now. Thank you for the clear and concise explanations!

There's no need to take out the top pin, because the spring slides in right underneath it.

I just got my slide stop levers and I was able to swap 3 Glocks in 5 minutes with your video so thanks for the upload! That having been said you did mention using the special Glock punch tool which I did not have so I was able to do it with an Allen wrench (the pins themselves are metal on Gen 4, not sure about others). If anybody doesn't have the Glock punch tool you can use an Allen wrench instead and the pins come out nice and easy.

Great video. Except for some reason I cannot push the first pin through. I even tried to hammer it a little bit and nothing. The pin gives a tinny but and then it stops. I googled it and found a few forums of people with the same issue. I guess I’ll have to take it in to a gun smith and see if they can do it and/or what I’m doing wrong.

Why did you remove the top pin since the spring just slides under it? Also don't need to completely remove the bottom pin. Maybe my Gen4 G19 is different but all I did was partially displace the bottom pin enough to remove the old slide release, slide the new one in, and reseat the pin. Could feel it click into place by hand. 30 second job. Never touched the top pin. Anyway, love ya. Thanks for the video.

I put the stock slide stop back in because the gun would lock back after each round that was fired. I put in the top pin first and re-installed it again and still didn’t help. As soon as I put the stock glock slide stop back on then it was fine again....What a bummer. :(

you don't have to remove both pins. you only have to partially remove one.

Are the slide stope compatible with all model's same gen?

Installed mine and it moves left to right a bit wondering if there’s a way to make it more secure and sturdy

Here for my 43 mine is so hard to get the slide to release basically have to destroy your thumb

Do you know why mine locks back without a magazine? I'm guessing I have to break it in? (Edit: I found out why: I put the main device into the furthest left slot, and the spring into the adjacent right slot, my spring came a little off to the right, so I assumed it went there)

My slide stays back every time I shoot I have to press it every time I shoot did I install it wrong?

The one thing that will get people into trouble about this way he shows is to never remove the top small pin. If you accidentally put the top pin in first after installing the slide lock then the pistol will lock back after each round fired because the spring can get behind the top pin and cause that malfunction and it’s easy for people to screw that up. The top pin should remain in place for this installation because the spring butts up against it and not through it. The bottom pin is the only pin that holds it in place and that should be the only pin to be removed unless you put it in wrong like I said above. If you put the top pin in first then you must remove both but that should fix that problem. if people follow the video it should go fine though but some get ahead of themselves and don’t notice that. It’s just one more step to complicate this installation though imo. Hope this helps anyone that’s having that issue because it can be frustrating for people that have limited knowledge about how it operates.

So does the spring on the slide release lever just rest on the top pin? It's kind of hard to tell in the video, but if it does that means you wouldn't have to take out that top pin to remove the old lever or install the new one, right?

When I put the slide stop in it looks right but when I put the magazine in it makes the slide stop pop up so it catches onto the slide when I cock the gun. What am I doing wrong?

Do not take out the top pin and don't push the bottom pin all the way out. It took me 30 seconds.

The slide stop lever on the Glock 40 is horrible, I have a really strong thumb and it pisses me off, way to close and flush to the frame, they failed on that one.

horrible advice. i removed the top pin and damaged my glock. DO NOT remove the top pin. there is absolutely NO reason to remove the top pin.
