I totally agree. She has so many great songs, but this seems to be my favorite and it evokes the same emotions in me. Cuts Both Ways is a close second, but it's so hard to rate the others.
This song is full of romantic overtones all the way through. I feel this way for a very special man! You know who you are. Listen to it again from me. It's beautiful!
When you think about it, there really aren't that many ballads sung by women towards men so when you hear one...especially one this well performed with heartfelt lyrics...it's wonderful. As a man, if a woman expressed her feelings to me and said "would you hold my hand right through it", I would be so touched.
Bc wmn have to tread lightly when it comes to expressing feelings or they'll be labeled "crazy." So most of the wmn men think are cold really have feelings that run miles deep...
@@sunshineofrays6977 I agree with you today it’s hard for any younger woman to express there love to that special person I grew up in 1970’s and 1980’s got married right out of HS to my HS sweetheart Joe back in September 1990 I always told Joe how much I loved him how much I appreciate his friendship over 7 years from our middle school years through our graduation times were different back then to what it’s like living in 2023 now I loss my husband Joe 4 years ago in line of duty (federal law enforcement agent) and there isn’t a day gone by that I don’t miss him that I just wish Joe was here reassuring me holding my hand telling me everything would be alright never thought I’d be in this spot in my life 53 years old already loss the love of my life looking where do I go from here I honestly don’t want to be involved with someone else not at this point in my life I may live another 25 years at most if you go off average age my family has passed away at I could be wrong I don’t know that answer I’m guessing at it it’s harder on younger women to express love today most have grown up in broken household parents divorced or in jail and all they have seen is how men and women act fight among each other and not care if kids see this or not that’s one of the biggest problems today everyone wants the easy way out when faced with issues or problems when together no one stands back and just listen to one another work the issues out god Joe and I had our arguments are little fights Joe and I always said when our daughter was around us there was NO ARGUING AMONG US and we did that we didn’t want our daughter to see or hear when we had a fight heck we use to take our arguments outside in our car/truck just so our daughter didn’t here it I will admit there’s way too much of that going on today and it’s only getting worse with each generation something has to change it’s matter of time when My apologies being long winded just giving my opinion here
I am so sorry for the loss of the love of your life , we are the same age , and I can't imagine how painful that must be. And to die in the line of duty , what a wonderful man you had throughout the years. Please don't say sorry for expressing how you feel , it is hard to know where to go in life after such an awful experience. I just hope that you can find strength in the time ahead ....🙏
Well, for me, this is equal to "Don't Wanna Lose You" and the other great hits of hers. This song really hits me hard in all the feels. Tears just stream down my face.
Cheers! I had played this song many times along the road to visit my love for 12 years but it ended 3 years ago. By the way, I still love this song and when I play it on the road, I just realise that I'm driving to somewhere to meet someone nice some day. ✌️😊
I'm just a broken-down old man now, but this song reminded me of the year 1988 when I was a young man in love. Regrettably, the love was unrequited and I still wonder whatever happened to her.
The beautiful thing about this amazing video is I met the love of my life at that diner after leaving some friends at a local club. Lindy was in there alone and we struck up a conversation. It was 93 and 11 wonderful years later we were unbreakable. Cancer took him at 36 and my life has changed forever. I miss him everyday, but all I have to do is close my eyes and I do see his smile. Miss you so much Lin. rip my angel I love you till the end of time
In my humble opinion this song is Gloria Stephan's, greatest hit. A beautiful one that stands the test of time. A the memories we left behind. Yes indeed.
My 1999 my wife and I were separated for 6 months. This song helped me get thru it. This woman's voice is one of the most beautiful sounds my ears have ever heard. Only God could create something that wonderful. She is blessed.
A most haunting lyric sung by a most beautiful and intelligent woman. Diva - goddess, NO (she does not possess the callous attitude of some in the business), legend, YES! Yet so humble, so down to earth.
I forgot how much I love this song... it popped into my head last night. I used to be a huge Gloria Estefan fan and I was fortunate enough to see her and Emilio in person at a performance of "On Your Feet" a few years ago where they led a conga line through the theater. Good people.
There is no way this song could ever have been written by someone who didn't know the love and loss of someone special, something magical that may only happen once in a lifetime. Every word, every line, sums up perfectly that feeling of love when it's right and good. This song articulates the very things we want to say to someone while we still have the chance, but don't because we are too afraid. The moment passes and all we are left with are memories and a feeling of emptiness that time never seems to heal.
@ Razor that is beautifully put. And see, when it's too late to say it, the person lives sometimes with regret for the rest of their life here on earth. That's why we can NEVER take people, love, family, nothing for granted, because it's only for a limited of a time. Someone 3 years ago hurt me to the very core of my soul, I thought I would never recover, but everyday, I make the choice to move on and let go, because I want to love again one day.
Just beautiful Ms Gloria. This beautiful song brought me through some very dark days back in 93 when I lost my husband. Just lovely and thank you for your beautiful talent and strength.
this song has so many layers of meanings. many will hear the romantic overtones and leave it there. for me, it has another meaning - my mother passed away in 2017 and i took care of her every day for 6 months through 10 hospitals, 3 rehab centers, and 1 hospice. for me, when she says i get a little tongue twisted every time i talk to you when i see you, i imagine my mother in rehab sleeping at night and me sitting there wondering, when i leave tonight, will this be the last time i see her alive? so when i close my eyes, i still can see my mother's smile shining from her bed and i hear her voice saying my name. and the second half of the song is an inner monologue that plays over and over in my soul. tell me if made the wrong advances, tell me if i've made you feel ashamed - this question pushes me to do my best to impress my mother. there are ceilings in love and if romance is your ceiling, you're missing out on other deeper and richer ways to love someone.
I know the feeling. My mother passed away this year. She always loved Gloria Estefan's music. And the line cause when I close my eyes I still can see your smile. It's so true. It happens to me all of the time.
I love this song so much, my wife surprised me during our wedding in 1997 and had it played when we were lighting the unity candle. Gloria is the perfect singer/songwriter. I do know Jon Secada wrote this.
I still can see your smile..what a great song from such a beautiful voice. This song never gets old to me. If only more music can touch me like this one does.
I just turned 23, so I am very young to know all here songs, but this one is my favorite of all her songs, so beautiful. She knows so much about love. I am Gloria Estefan Fan, no matter what ❤️
I mean it's ab her seeing someone's smile...possibly her lover! and having that smile brighten her day/life. It's an emotional/sweet song...I don't feel it has anything to do with sexual desires.. I think you're just horny for Ms. Estefan! PFffff!!! Lmao
Ryan Hale The song reminds me of a time when I was younger and woman who was in love with me was so nervous about professing her love for me. It was a wonderful time in my life and when this song was routinely on the FM radio waves. I do understand what amorous means and I think we have different understandings of that definition.
this is what's missing in most of the music today gloria singing with all that emotion and passion you just don't see this kind of singer out there anymore now it's all about that certain look and dance moves real singing talent has really taken a back seat since around the early 90s just my opinion
Mr Peabody Yeah I feel you dude, although I just heard this song for the 1st time, and I think it's OK. It's not bad, but it's not as great as I expected
By the Gods, I finally found this song! This song has stuck with me, and somehow haunted me for a very long time. It has been a long time and I never knew the name or who it was by, just a simple chorus line that got stuck in my head. I found it, and the emotions it brings back is...heart-crushing.
I've loved this voice since the day I first heard her some 28 years ago. She is my inner Saint! Gloria's voice always reminds me of how to be humble in life and happy with whom I love!!! Thanks Gloria Estefan!!! love you
I love this song. It brings back many memories. I relate to it on a spiritual level. The lyrics are so down to earth. Gloria has been a favorite of mine since the mid 80s. On top of that she's so pretty.
I'm a guy, and this song melts me every time I hear it. I think, one of the greatest penned songs...EVER!!! Probably my favorite song of Gloria's, besides "1, 2, 3!" She's an amazing artist whose songs just captivate your emotions, or get you up on your feet and dancing away-a songstress who makes you feel, move and think! Gloria, if I had a adulthood wish, it would be that our Cuba would be free, and that one day I could just meet you, hug you, and tell you how proud I am of the way you have represented the Cuban people in exile, elsewhere in the world, and in Miami! I'm also happy that in your life, success has dropped onto your lap. Smile fervently, love deeply, and laugh loudly! God Bless!
I agree 100% especially about Freedom for the people of Cuba. It is sad that this many years later they are still being oppressed. American Progressives make me sick when they act like Castro's Cuba is some kind of ''Paradise'' when it is only a prison. We must ALL work harder to put into political power those with the courage to right the wrong so close to our shore.
Such a well written, beautiful song. Gloria was definitely a gift to the music world and to fans. My sister from Cuba, I am so proud of you-the way you represent your country with class and dignity, and for all of your success! A stellar example of beauty within that shows itself in song! Quiero mi Cuba libre!
one of my top 3 favorite songs of hers, the others in no particular order are here we are and don't wanna lose you (course i pretty much love ALL OF HER BALLADS FOR DECADES NOW)....
Haven't heard this in years, it suddenly appeared in my playlist and my god the childhood memories started rushing back (I was 11 when it came out). Such a beautiful and underrated song, love it so much.
It is a true and profound sensitivity this music ... It raises the soul in the strength of believing in the good it does in truly loving and in the reciprocity ...
Gloria Estefan. I see your ☺ smile. Love this song. It's truly out standing the words in this song make me want to sing. Just love this song. Such a powerful song sang by you.
