My dad was an addict, he got clean because i asked him to. After he fixed his life he fixed mine too. I lost him on 9/11 and this was our song. i must admit, i know this song in 2000s and i was quite surprised because i never thought gloria and msm had created this song... it's so 80s with "david foster" style... too bad in my country, this song "lost" to more their popular songs, i.e. conga, rythim is gonna get you, because those songs were most played on the radio at that time...

I would throw in the '70's and add that things started to wind down in the '90s. So as someone mentioned, you kinda have to dig for gems now. I mean just the way artists are judged now is different. Lots of artists weren't lookers back then but they had talent. It's quite the reversal now.

My parents divorced when I was 5 . Sometime when I was in high school she told me when she hears this song, it reminds me of my father. I don’t remember ever seeing them speak . I now really understand the words. It’s too late to tell my dad because he passed in 2001. Every time I hear this some I feel like someone kicked me in the stomach ... I ball out and cry. As far as pop megastars go, she's always seemed unbelievably grounded. No hint of scandal that I can remember. Married to the same man for almost 50 years, not a peep of tabloid nonsense. It's almost a ridiculous American Dream Story. Plucked out of a church choir, toils for a decade in a territory band, on weekends between studying and day-jobs, and gets her first top-10 when she's 29 years old and BLOWS UP with almost none of the BS that comes with fame (and miraculously recovers from getting hit by a truck along the line). I'm here thinking there has to be a catch.

Saw Gloria "live" in Buffalo, New York back before the turn of the century. Her entrance into the auditorium was above the crowd and in a ball all lit with LED-type flashing and twinkling lights. Best concert I've ever seen.

yes, I loved the late 80's + early 90's music so much for the all brass and horns and saxophones that were used to bridge, amplify (interludes) and extend the lyrics and singing !

I'm struggling with that right now. A very dear online friend of mine just started seeing someone for real (offline) and no longer has time to come online anymore. He had been very lonely and starved for love for a long time. He had often flirted with me, and I really miss him, more than I can say. He was (and is) a sweet, gentle soul who was there for me so many times when I needed a shoulder to cry on. But because he's across the ocean from me, there's almost zero chance of us ever meeting, and he needed a real relationship. He will never know how much his friendship has meant to me or how much I miss him. I'm afraid I'm a little bit too selfish to be happy for him, like I should be, but I'm going to try to work on that.

Had a crush on Gloria growing up, then it progressed to an absolute respect for her musical style and voice. I know she is an icon for the Latino community, but her music is respected worldwide. Her videos are not viewed nearly enough in my opinion.
