That's because she's one of the very few female artists who didn't have that need to show her body or having her @$$ all over the place just to get noticed. She is most definitely underrated and one of a kind
@@CerealKiller5150 no one did that in the 80s, not counting Madonna who didn't need to do it either, she just felt like it. I don't agree that she was underrated - her discography (with over 100 million records sold worldwide) and the awards she's won say otherwise.
My mom listened to this album when i was growing up and now she’s on her last days from cancer and this song absolutely rocks me to the soul. Love you mommy ❤
Aww, You touched me heart ❣ Play it for her baby, she will love the memories as they flow thru her Soul. I pray 🙏 for Her, You & aAll Family. I too love this album. My kids grew up listening to me playing all kinds of music and singing in different languages. They grew to love them. ❤ whisper to ur Mom for me pls, "There's an Angel watching over you" Thank you Sugar for sharing, GOD SPEED ✝️🌟⚘ DD 🕊
@@duchessdebraadams5437 i would whisper if i could love she passed dec 1 but i still talk to her I’ll relay the message thank you !you got a beautiful soul!
I was 17 in the summer of 89 and my father took us to Ceder Point. I met a Spanish girl from Michigan who was the same age as me. We spent the entire day together riding the rollercoasters and eating at concession stands. At the end of the day she had to go her way and I went mines. Pulling out the parking lot, this was the first song to play on my walkman which seemed like it lasted the entire ride home. Maria was my first and hardest crush. I'm in my 40's now and still hearing this song makes my heart change to a completely different rhythm.
would be cool if she came hear and read this like something out of a 90s rom com. She probably still thinks about it sometimes too. Cool story. Thanks for sharing.
It’s amazing how one song can make you think of all the lovers and friends you’ve lost along the way, the places you no longer visit, and all the little in between moments that got lost in time...how i missed the 80s
Certainly 1000% agree with you, it amazing like you said one certain song opens the floodgates of your mind and brings back the good times and the bad too, and the friends who aren't here anymore, it really does get you wishing we were back there . To Absent Friends. And the best of luck 👍 stay safe and well from the 🇬🇧

Gloria always sings crystal clear understandable lyrics. Many artists today sing like they have mush in their mouths and you can't understand hardly any words. Beautiful voice.
Hadn't heard this song in 20 plus years until recently and it totally brought back memories and emotions. My high school girlfriend was a ballet dancer and she performed a dance to this song at our senior variety show and dedicated it to me. That was 33 years ago. We went through a tough breakup and went our separate ways after high school, and eventually we totally lost touch. I was so crushed. My first love and boy did I love her more than anything... Amazing how just hearing a song can bring back such powerful memories!!
I am 71 years old now when I was 36 I met the most amazing woman who was 30 I was so stupid not to realise how see felt about me she gave me this tape to listen to and even today it brings tears to my eyes .In my opinion Gloria Estefan was one if not the best female singer of her generation
This is one of those songs that carry me back to some wonderful times. I was in my 20s in the 1980s and there was so much incredible music during that time that fills me with longing for years lost with time. I can never relive those moments, but I can hold them tightly in my memory to cherish forever. Thank you to all the artists like Gloria Estefan for giving us the music that Carrie’s us back.
Time passes but the hurt of losing the time when we all can remember and enjoy what a beautiful eera it was but so sad that this time of my life I will never be able to relive a time we’re everything seem to be so calm and beautiful
This woman is a very underrated artist.her talent is immense and her voice is superb.she dosent get the recognition she deserves I don't think she ever did!!!!
Gloria was NEVER underrated. Are you sure you talkin about the same person? She has a VERY successful mainstream career. They were trying to turn Selena into the next Glorai Estefan because of her success> Not sure where you even got this information. The Miami Sound Machine and whn she went solo, their music is still played on the radio. I think you need to recheck your facts. Everyone knows who she is in all communities
Gloria has an empire along with her husband Emilio Estefan net worth around 500-700 million, she's a living legend & icon. She's the like Mariah carey or Madonna of Latin music.
Gloria has had more success than Mariah Carey and Madonna combined. Gloria has been around way longer than those two, almost 50 years in the music business.
I hadn't heard this song in years, then in 1995...it came on the radio...I was dealing with a hard break up. I finally thought I met the " one " . Suddenly it was over...I was crushed. She jump started my heart, I didn't want anyone else...I dated but stopped cold when I met her. The song came on and the tears wouldn't stop. I've yet to meet anyone who makes me feel that way just as I did then. I was 23. A man isn't worth a damn if he can't cry at the the right time.
Only in Our LORD JESUS CHRIST Will We Find All The Answers We Seek In This Life... For HE is the ONLY TRUE GOD. John 6:47 - Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me has eternal life.
I absolutely adore this song, reminds me of the beautiful, gracious woman that I married 23 yrs ago, this song reminds me of how much she means to me, everytime I hear it I well up and almost cry as I love her so much.
One of Gloria's gifts? She never OVER-sang.... She never UNDER-sang. ... She didn't step all over melodies with those cheap vocal runs like many did in her day. She hammered a melody home and let the heart give it the spark. There was firm professional discipline in what she created and to her listeners, she just made it sound easy! ❤️❤️❤️
And she has written most of her own ballads and plenty of her uptempo songs, adding to the authenticity of her musicianship, I feel. (But it's fine when singers don't write their own songs, of course. And there are plenty of Gloria's great vocals that were of songs provided by other songwriters.)
Not to mention that she is from a generation of singers and performers who did not rely on studio gimmicks like autotune, that she sounds the same live as she does on recordings which is truly a gift and sign of her raw talent
I know this is a love song, but it touched my heart 9 years ago when my son was 10 years old. He has down syndrome and I was trying so hard to teach him to be as normal as possible. We would both get so stressed with reading, writing, speech therapy, and so much more. One day in the car this song came on and it hit me. I started crying because it was if he was singing it to me. So, since then I've learned to accept him and see him for who he is. He is just like us. He has strengths and weaknesses. Love is what matters. Thank you Gloria for this beautiful song.
This song is one of my best reflection songs of the 80's and helping me cope with the lost of my Daddy in 2021. His Birthday is in July 2022 and it will be his first Birthday without him. R.I.P DADDY LUV YOU MAN
In Norway we call the first year the year of mourning. It's the first year without the nearest and dearest of everything, including the deseased birthday. This January I lost my last aunt and uncle within 10 days. It was hard. Her birthday is in April. I can feel your pain in this. I lost my mother 7 years ago. My uncle was her brother, though, and my aunt my father's sister. We all have to go through this sooner or later. It's a sad part of life.
Beautiful song. Takes me back to another lifetime. Really kickstarts reflection. Puts rough times in the past in perspective without becoming depressed or wondering what if. For me it's an emotional, uplifting song.
How’d I love to go back to those days. How I loved the 80’s. Artists like Gloria made the decade so wonderful. Had some great friends back then. Had some great relationships too. So many great memories, and some bad, but on the whole it was really memorable! Now 69, been married for 30 years with 3 kids, all grown up, but how I wish I could back to those days. Know how you feel John. It’s all part of life’s rich tapestry my friend. They’re what make you what you are. Take care.
Carla Linton. Judy Perry. I'm so sorry for your lost. May God be with you in the time of your bereavement. My prayers and thoughts goes out to you. Stay strong.
*i lost her on Tuesday, 12 September 2000, she is still in my heart as of 2:24 am PST on Tuesday, 23 February 2021, she will for eternity remain in my heart*
Gloria's voice speaks volumes. I grow up, with this beautiful and touching song. I always loved her amazing talent and is one of my best reflation songs of the 80s.
There are songs that you hear for the first time you will never forget and the feeling you get the first time hearing it you will always feel that same way every time you hear that same song, well this is one of those songs.
1989 was my last year in Primary School, and at our Leavers Disco, the Dj played this. We all took the girls hands that we had fancied throughout that year and danced to this beautiful song. Classic :-)
