Back to the backside with a look at the three gluteal muscles and what they're there for. And what is Trendelenburg's sign?

The only one person who makes anatomy less boring to learn. Sir I'd really appreciate if you also discuss major clinical problems Long with the muscles origin, insertion, blood supply, nerve invervation and action. I just love the way you explain things. Much respect!

Muaz Ahmed I am a retired RN, but love human anatomy lectures. It is very interesting that I seem to learn easily from you. I went to nursing school at age 38 and loved the classes and lectures. I miss that sometimes and look lectures for refreshment of my knowledge.

Too much gluteal muscles will make you go crazy on opposite genders; because the bundle of fibers are degenerated to produce a pair of cheeks behind. That's why we sometimes couldn't properly relax, or calm our nerves down, so we walk fast in paces then you are attracted by a man if you are a lady, and vice versa.

As a yoga practitioner and teacher, I am obsessed with anatomy and the biomechanics of movement. Your clips are fantastic; thank you for making them. It’s a completely different thing to look at a picture/drawing in a book or app and watching you take apart your “muscle man”. And yes, a cuppa is always an excellent choice :)

Thank you so very much Sam. I was born without a "hip roof" (not sure on the medical terminology). Had my first operation at age 2yrs and last one age 17yrs and was told I will never be able to move my legs greater than 90 degree apart. I never really had problems with my hip since then except for recently at the age 37yrs. The doctor that time told me I will have to exercise my legs for the rest of my life and I have struggled with keeping to that the last 1.6yrs and started getting hip pains and walking (without realizing) with my one foot turned outwards. When did the standing exercise now I immediately leaned to the one side where on my other side I was standing strong. I always had this uneducated thought my pain has to do with my actual bone and not really being able to do anything about it. I now see and understand why the doctor said what he did and have hope that I can train my Gluteous minimus and medium to become stronger so I can walk balanced again.

37 year old woman trying to get into the healthiest state I can. This video answered all of my questions about this section of the body. I have a degenerative (genetic) joint disorder and suspected my pain was sciatica. It could possibly be weakness in these areas you discussed here. Very informative. I will be working to strengthen these areas now that I know what to target. Thank you isn't enough to show my gratitude for such a great demonstration you have blessed us with here. I took anatomy/physiology in school and loved my studies. Our bodies truly are smart machines and you are a wonderful teacher!!

Very, VERY helpful, especially since I had hip replacement surgery (anterolateral) 2 years ago and a walking/hip problem since. My surgeon said "everything looks fine and I just need to stretch". Ends up I was doing "swinging gait" (I noticed) AND my non-surgical leg is a bit shorter than the operative leg. It took another surgeon (and months of walking/exercise problems) to diagnose gluteus medium/minimus issues, swinging gait and shorter leg. Shoe lift (1/4"), exercises and time will hopefully correct these issues. Thanks so much!!!

Great approach and interesting content, I wish that so many moons ago my lecturers and teachers were similar, would have been more enjoyable. Only with thorough knowledge of anatomy can you put human function into perspective and understand pathology. Your video would definitely help learning! Good work mate.
