So true! This particular example was one of those projects that I handed off to another teammate... He’s successfully swapped out three so far. I just hate having to backtrack someone else’s work. I generally work alone and there’s a reason I’ve positioned myself in that manner😬🤣. Obviously it all worked out in the end! Bless’ns Jeremy! Tedd

Hi Ted!!😀😀 With all the electronic things on the vehicle's now days it's hard to find out what is wrong without a diagnostic computer. Thank God for You Tube though. Howdy Al, indeed. I have No interest in learning diagnostics and troubleshooting of automotive electrical gadgetry😬. I much prefer old school. Good job bud thats my other job to building race motors
@sawsurgeon
@sawsurgeon 4 года назад
Fascinating, I’ve never “Built” a race engine from the start. However I did tear down and rebuild a feisty little 327 Chevy we used to run in our Short Course Off Road Truck. 12.5:1 compression ratio If I recall correctly🤔 When I pulled the first head I couldn’t believe the domes on the pistons. I’d never seen anything like it before. There certainly didn’t seem as though there was much room for error between them and the valves at times😬 Prior to that I’d only ever tinkered with stock engines an a lot of flat head air cooled stuff. What type of racing do you build engines for? Got any videos posted? That’d certainly be interesting. Even just a shop walk around with some explanation. No secrets obviously, but I’d certainly find it interesting. Bless’ns! Tedd

Oh David! I wish it wasn’t so easy for me to top that one, but here I go😬. Years ago, we picked up a used late model GM truck. The wipers quit working. I looked seemingly Everywhere for the fuse. Big box under the hood had lots of fuses and relays, but nothing for the wipers. With no fuse box under the dash, I figured it was something else. The GM dealer replaced the fuse which was on the Left end of the dash... I wasn’t impressed! (With myself 😬🤨). Bless’ns! Tedd

I've got a GMC mid bus with the 6.5L and having issues with it starting never had any issues it got a lil cold in Texas but that's a bout it mines not starting any ideas...
@sawsurgeon
@sawsurgeon Год назад
Hey Tommy, unfortunately anything I say will be a guess. The cold has a tendency to reveal a diesel’s weak spots. Is it cranking over relatively quick or is there a notable drop in cranking speed? Batteries, cables and starter are common culprits. A 20° drop in typical cold season temps can make them struggle. Fuel, fuel filters and lift pumps can be a factor. How many miles are on the bus and past service history can have detrimental effects on cold start efficiency. I would start out by checking the condition of the batteries. An amp draw test will tell you if cables or starter are the weak link. Lots and lots of factors to consider. Best of success to ya, Tedd

@sawsurgeon
@sawsurgeon 4 года назад
Hey there Mr 906, oh boy... Electrical issues😬 Misery Loves Company, thanks for being here! They’re bad enough as it is, but this truck is a Military CUCV II. GM produced it with a 24 volt starter and a 12 volt alternator... They then put a Magical Electric Box behind the seat to bump the voltage up to 24 to charge the batteries which are wired in parallel🤔 There are a number of other oddities about these that do not appear in a GM schematic. Steel Soldiers website has a lot of the military manuals available, however there always seems to be something either added or omitted🤪 Bless’ns to ya! Tedd

I'm impressed. I can see the billboard out by the main road stating. EVERYTHING SURGEON- THIS WAY with a corresponding arrow.Looks like the day for electrical stuff. With the new splitter the kill switch is the size of the last joint of my pinky, maybe, so I decided it needed an emergency stop near the hydraulic valve. There were a set of open threaded holes on the valve body where a metal all weather box fit nicely. 2 switches weren't much with a NO and NC set so I could wire it however I needed. I found the hot wire to switch to ground and spliced in my piece of drop cord to go through flexible conduit to the emergency switch box. Tried it and it FAILED! Came in to eat and thought the splice had failed. Opened it back up and I had hooked up the wrong wire. Swapped wires and the splitter now has a kill switch next to the valve handle. I haven't even thought about wiring anything in ages and whatever little I had has fled. So if I work backwards, always carry a Fluke with you. Thanks Tedd! GBWYall and I'm still used to the diesels you roll/push/drag start.
@sawsurgeon
@sawsurgeon 4 года назад
Hey Lewie, isn’t it funny how you can walk away from something for a little while and come back with a fresh perspective? Well, either that or find yourself think’n “Now what exactly was I doing before I took a breather?”🤣 Glad you were able to make sense out of the switches.👍🏼 I seem to be continually making alterations to things like that. I built a rock trap for our 27hp leaf vacuum, I also put a micro-switch on the clean out door. If a guy was foolish enough to reach up in there with it running and he was a bit of a contortionist, he could reach into the impeller... The switch won’t prevent it from happening, but it would save a lot of fuel if the ambulance driver couldn’t figure out how to shut it down 😬🤣. Safety First😉 Bless’ns to you and your honey! Tedd
