Would like to know how u treated the part to protect from rust. Just got a good one from my local junk yard and before I go to install it I think I should do the same treating u did
Hi Joshua. I spray all the brake caliper surfaces with a product called Fluid Film. Or you can go an extra step and paint the caliper with POR15 which is bit more expensive but will protect and last a long time.
Tbh despite it seeming a bit amateurish for filming, I’ve never seen someone get such good shots of stuff that’s like in spaces that are deep in the engine bay like that. Usually it’s like yeah see that way down there yep that’s it, or zoomed in so far you can’t even tell what you’re looking at. So good job.
I can move my steering wheel 360 degrees but the front wheels do not turn. There is grease on the steering shaft on the shaft that attaches to the receptacle that attaches to the steering rack. Is the intermediate shaft still the problem ir is the steering rack the problem.
Could be a few things depending on if you just did the replacement of the shaft. The shaft may not be on the splines correctly, a loose shaft locking bolt, or bad steering rack which is rare.

WHEN I LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT THE UNIVERSAL JOINT ON THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ROTATES ON THE SHAFT THAT STICKS UP ON THE STEERING RACK. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I MADE NOTE OF THE POSITION BEFORE AND AFTER. WHEN I LOOK UNDER THE DASH I CAN SEE THE STEERING SHAFT ROTATING THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT THAT GOES THROUGH THE FIRE WALL BUT THE RUBBER BOOT LOOKS LIKE IT JUMPS. THERE IS ALSO A NOISE WHEN I ROTATE THE STEERING WHEEL FROM UNDER THE HOOD. STEERING COLUMN WILL NOT LOCK WHEN CAR IS OFF AND IN PARK. MEANING I CAN FREELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE BOLT ON THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT UNDER THE HOOD LOOKS INTACT AND IS THROUGH THE SHAFT THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE STEERING RACK. I DON'T THINK IT IS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING MOTOR NOR DO I THINK IT IS THE TORQUE SENSOR BECAUSE THE STEERING WOULD BE VERY HARD TO TURN IF THE STEERING MOTOR OR TORQUE SENSOR FAILED. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 55 MPH OR 70 MPH.I COULD HAVE BEEN REARENDED. GM SAYS THERE ARE NO RECALLS RELATED TO MY VIN NUMBER.
Hello I just changed mine on my 2006 malibu i put in the exact same way as the old one i made sure my steering wheels was not moving but still my steering wheels is off center Do i need to go for alignment
It should be slotted on both sides of the shaft for the locking bolt to slide through the clamp 1 way only. As long as the front wheels were pointed straight and the steering wheel was pointed straight upon reassembly, changing the shaft will not affect your alignment.
Similar set up but it's usually a clunking noise if the joint is bad on the steering shaft. Have a helper listen to the joint on the engine bay side as you turn the wheel.
@@570outlaws6 check your suspension, like tie rods, ball joints, and control arm bushings. If the rubber boots look worn, replace the part. That’s usually where squeaking and creaking would come from when turning the wheel
