two noticable mistakes here: 1. the "custom map" in doctor metalhead rises is actually cp_well 2. the reason why badwater and gunslinger both have the same model and physgun is because blue is the default physgun color and kleiner is the default player model.
I’ll give the guy some slack since he is the one that started all this ARGmod in the first place. Would be curious how would he do with the story. Wonder if he get inspired by these guys and actually might dabble something new or somewhat close to it.
Gunslingerpro and Badwater both remind me of WandaVision; where they're forced to play out a man playing god's sick fantasies. Although the former isn't resolved the same way the latter did.
Oh, I think the reason why badwater doesn't know about gunslinger yet is because his videos take place in 2009, while gunslinger's videos take place in 2010, so the latter hasn't existed yet in his timeline.

I have a theory that gunslinger pro and badwater are Siblings or brothers and badwater is lying to us saying that he doesn’t know him when in reality he does.
Idk if this has already been said, but while Gunslinger uses Engineer to represent himself, Badwater's favorite class is said to be the spy. Another thing I wanted to say was that Gunslinger had tortured the blue spy, meanwhile Badwater made the red engineer be the one in the most peril in the melonman series. Course this could just be me over thinking things since not much harm comes to the engineer unlike the spy in Badwater's videos
Part of me thinks gunslinger acts the way he does towards the ragdolls out of a fearful confusion, making sure they do nothing to him by removing them quickly or throwing them away frantically with a physgun. The way he grabbed heavy in the sled video seemed really panicky after a silent motionless reaction, which I take as some minor shock.
Yeah, it almost look like anger, but when you put it like that, the scared Giant seemed like a possible solution. I mean, if I was a kid and they move on their own, I freak out or be amazed.
My theory for the cyber soldier that was dubbed “a failure.” Is that the prop that looks like the trap propeller engine replacing his legs is supposed to be some sort of thruster. And that his general ability would be to propel himself in a direction with intense speed. Badwater brought that soldier back from hell to turn him into a “rocket man”. And it’s even more cruel when you remember that in the cannon tf2 universe (specifically during the WAR! Update) the Red demoman and the Blu soldier are best friends. And if you think about it, MelonMan is Red while the cyber soldier we see is Blu. This is a bit of a stretch, but if we consider that this is some AU where the ragdolls are in fact the actual tf2 mercs. Then that means that Melonman would have been forced to fight his oldest friend, turned into a flying abomination of flesh and steel. (Assuming that the Red engi is really friends with Melonman and it isn’t just part of the animation)
Maybe he escaped from the player with the prop unfinished or not fully prepared That could explain the blood(coming from the soldier I presume) The "failure" being the accident with the soldier that halted the production of the next video I think.

Its like toy store, but dark, the creator just puts all hes problems in the ragdolls and npc, while they suffer and try to help him. I thin in the past they tried to be friends, but started to fear him
badwatervideos2009 is a pretty good animator, it actually makes me wonder if hes an old gmod animator, or is new to it either way, hes really great at making animations that look EXACTLY like it was made in early 2010s
Badwater is honestly a good youtuber outside of the ARG, funny videos, good story development. It’d be cool to see them keep making content after the ARG. Awesome video 👍
that's what i enjoyed about badwater, his more expressive and generally better animation style makes it more painted as a story instead of a creepy ang with more emphasis on building a creepy/mysterious narrative.
The creativity of this ARG is BEYOND what I anticipated. The quality as well as the theme and just overall uncanny feeling with the videos are so good. You did an amazing job analyzing and picking apart the videos.
I agree with you! I watched gunslingerpro with some friends in a VC once and i was ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by the amazing quality and the genius ideas of the ARG!

Yet he still chose to cover that question which would most likely be asked in a current QnA due to his own ARG.

"I think the text looks a bit modern", I agree with that, as the font looks like the one used in the text generator introduced in later versions of Vegas. The older generator used Arial.
I like to think the general disliking of the Scout from Badwater's videos are a summation of how he gets treated in most Gmod Machinima's, specifically someone like Doctor Lalve.

The small details are neat for both channels, where gunslinger only seems to target blu team and how melonman gets smoother animation when he beats down the teethaneer
something to note would be as to if the ragdolls can in fact feel pain. if they weren't to feel pain on the same sense of a human, that could probably explain why both creators feel as if they're not doing anything wrong, after all, they do not feel pain the same way they do. right? it's all just a game of fun and to create nice content, right? I feel like that'd make them a tad bit more complex and interesting than them just being overly sadistic psychopaths- which by all accounts they probably are.
Btw that kind of title (hl2 - date - hour) it’s how programs like Fraps (a lot used back then) saves directly the file, so they can be directly uploaded by the props themselves(?)
Why is "spy is sanvich" so goddamn creepy to me? The look of _absolute terror_ on that spy's face is genuinely unnerving... Also, I noticed that in ragdoll walker tutorial, Soldier actually shakes his head at the Remover tool and Spy has hi head raised, looking towards the creator when he turns towards him when he's lauing on the ground
It’s really interesting to me that both of these ARGmod creators took the stance of making the protagonist the villain. It’s a bold move to make a whole series where every time we see a video we need to try and decide if it’s what the bad guy wants us to see or if we can take it at face value. It’s cool to have a different villain in such a popular genre
Can I just say something that messed me up? The “You are a good friend..” moment. There is so much that is in that clip and what happens in said clip that it’s too much at once. The heavy is trying to survive any way possible, by giving mindless love to the creator. Telling him that he did good to save himself. Then he realized that he is most likely going to die. So he says something that can be considered begging to some. The “You are a good friend..” thing. It’s a plead for mercy, he doesn’t wanna die. He continues telling the creator good shit to please him. But to no avail. He backs up, scared for his life. And starts running before being grabbed.. And… Well.. if you’ve ever played Gmod, you know that grabbing a rag doll and noclipping out of the map, the rag doll starts to spiral into broken physics. Just the flopping around of the limbs and whatnot. But imagine, IMAGINE having to be the victim of being grabbed by a physgun and getting noclipped out of the map. You’d be pressed like an hydraulic press from every angle of your body. Let alone the fact that he grabs him at the neck area. So his NECK is the key part of the force. He very likely could have snapped his neck by just grabbing it like that and turning around so fast like that. It is depressing, scary and absolutely horrific.
I think it’s odd that badwatervideos hasn’t used sniper or spy characters. I also noticed that when melonman and engineer are shaking hands, the red engineer smile fades away into a blank expression. I like badwater more because there’s a cool story and with original characters as well, but with gunslingerpro their videos are more subtle and a little more creepier. Nice explanation and good video man
Another thing about the ragdoll walker one, when gunslinger says "any ragdoll" and goes to pick up the blu spy, you can see the spy lift his head to look at the player without aid from him.
The worst part about this, is that the ragdoll/npc is essentially immortal. They cannot die permanently and is went through every torture unless the player decided to delete them, removing them from existence.
I have watched both of Rich's videos on gunslingerpro AND badwater and i absolutely loved them! But now, another, 52 minutes long analysis video on BOTH of them? Sign me in!
My theory is that BadwaterVideos2009 could be the spy from GunslingerPro2009 videos, as he says he likes playing spy in his Q&A video. GunslingerPro2009 could be his brother, that got his computer after he went missing (somehow got into the game). This could answer why both channels have sentient ragdolls and other similarities
I think a lot of people miss that in the ragdoll walker tutorial, there’s something of note going on during the thrusters section. The Spy has his knife in hand and walks up to The Player. Then it looks like he runs away and make a sort of, “no” motion using the thrusters. Furthermore he may have tried to insult The Player by going up to The Engineer ragdoll like he was going to backstab him before he runs away.
This is more “Unfiction” rather than an ARG since the audience isn’t really playing along and is simply enjoying the story, now if it starts incorporating other things like messages or an information hunt, then it can be considered an ARG. Also the hl2 2009-08-27 is more likely the file name of the raw footage which would mean that, that is when it was taken. So it is likely that this unfiction story is supposed to take place in 2009 and is just being released in 2021 in reality, but in universe everything is taking place in 2009.
i actually feel bad for the spy being welded to machine that makes you walk being stuck in 1 place with player that can grab him fly at fast speeds and torture him and gets turned into crab creature thing
I like how both of them have the same theme of sentient Ragdolls but themselves have different mentalities. Gunslinger likes to play with his toys, but once they start misbehaving, moving on their own and try to escape. He gets mad and punishes them via mutilation and turned to some creature. Badwater wants to make Gmod Machinimas, he wants to be a filmmaker, once he is done with everything, he just gets rid of them like trash. They are also deleted if they misbehave or try to escape during his filmmaking process because no one likes disobedience.
i already ADORE badwater, his videos with melonman are so, so, so reminiscient of freak fortress 2 content. melonman, teethineer, and dr.metalhead all seem like they could belong. honestly amazing.
also since watching badwater and gunslinger i am now very nice to the ragdolls and no longer delete them, they go in a nice shady part of the map. you know, just in case.
The ragdolls are like eteled from the creepypasta."wii deleted you" basically eteled is a guy named henry that died and is trapped in a mii he created called eteled and he doesnt want to be deleted because when a mii gets deleted it gets sent into a hospital where they feel pain and eteled is the only one who knows how to get out of there and everytime he gets deleted the pain gets worse... maybe ragdolls go into the dark room when deleted and then they feel pain in there...
Stellarr, just wanted to say thank you. Those videos are amazing! I never knew about args before watching your vids, and as I am 37:14 minutes in this one, and after finishing ARG one, I have to say that these made my day better, as it was creepy to watch then, and they kept me entertained whole time. I of course subbed too, and would love to see more of those obscure channels.
something i noticed is that unlike other distressed ragdolls, soldier seems to be the only one that can actually communicate with the viewer, but only through a sort of rudimentary code, this implies one of two things *the ragdolls are the actual mercs, and soldier is using tactics he learned in make-believe military *soldier has been through this before, and this is what he made up on the spot I'm believing more on the second option tbh, and that would imply something else, that the remover tool doesn't kill them
Hey Stellarr1, did you check the thumbnail of the Sled Tutorial video? It seems to just be the heavy on the sled but you could kinda see something with low opacity, like another picture, but if you go to that point of the videl, there are no visual glitches or edits, i hope something about this reveals some of the story.
Then gunslinger would win anyway. He is godlike being in this world. Ragolls can kill his character, but he will just respawn and bring them even more suffering. Plus you are mentioning last video, if it would be last, gunslinger would either change after this, or lose (as I said, impossible), and video would not be posted if he lost.
I prefer Gunslinger over Badwater, Badwater is one continuous narrative while Gunslingers videos are all ensemble, you can watch one without having to watch the rest others
