GMOD: Elevator Source (Randomized Elevator Trip) 

I am in absolute disbelief that Content ID didn't give me more trouble with this.

"GM-Towers" is a relatively old Gmod gamemode that was kinda like a MMO. Dozens (sometimes hundreds) of players on a large Hotel-like map could play games and have their own customizable room/apartment.

I can distinctly remember the fact that this level created an entire genre of custom map on basically every platform that had a freeform level editor. Its actually ridiculous how much this accelerate the genre of "Random Events In Elevators" Genre. They were all over Roblox back in the day.

I'm still amazed how that bit with Isaac (or Father Grigori) actually scared you. Like there's very few actually scare rooms the elevator stops off at, and the atmosphere is usually an indication of what type of room it is, with the scenery beyond basically being a tacit encouragement to check it out. Honestly, this just proves that two things I've learned from your videos is that you're curious when you should be cautious and you're cautious when you should be curious. Not sure if it's a good thing being a walking horror archetype, but it does add a uniqueness to your videos.

If they update this map they need a Stanley Parable section with the narrator. I.e: Narrator: "Stanley stepped into the elevator." Stanley: *just stands there* Narrator: "I said Stanley stepped into the elevator." Stanley: *still standing there* Narrator: *sigh* "I really didn't want to have to resort to extreme methods but you leave me no choice." *violently ragdolls Stanley into the elevator*

My headcannon for Hamlet is that he's just wearing an unusual, and is getting increasingly pissed off as you continue to slander about him. He did not spend 700k to be called "Satan."

I love how you looked at Father Grigori like “we’re friends now. We’ve been through thick and thin” and canonically in HL2 in one section he helps you fend off a whole hoard of zombies and calls you his “brother” and stuff. Total badass

I love how playing source games gives you the skill to deal with bugs, and you just eventually innately begin to understand map, and mod issues. Not what happens in this video obviously, but he did know to check the workshop. Something you do 500 times with this game.

I can't believe you've been into gmod for this long but never heard of this map! It's such an absolute classic. The guys who made it also worked on gmod tower and later tower unite.

Wooooow this is a big nostalga trip, pretty sure this is at least a decade or more old. Rather amusingly I was just thinking about a few days back only for you uo visit it, haha

I also highly recommend playing Jazztronauts, another Garry's Mod addon. It's not exactly a singular map, but a gamemode that will allow you explore many more maps in ways you otherwise wouldn't be able to, all while having it's own little story and characters. It's like it's own game. Definitely one of the best addons on the workshop. (Edit: And yes, it has a few spooky elements depending on what ending you try to aim for.)

Awesome map! It's even better with quiet random players you never met before! Sadly no one plays it in multiplayer anymore, even though the servers are still online after 5+ years :(

Strobing lights/pictures at 2:25 can cause seizures in epileptics, just a warning for people who are susceptible to that kind of thing.

My favorite part of this game mode is that at the very end it lets you off at what is basically a hangout spot; it’s an absolutely perfect end for an adventure with some friends.

7:36 Yep and I love them. Honestly, I always like it when a game lets you look down and see your body or legs. Kinda gives more of a sense of you taking up space rather than just being a floating torso with arms.

Holy crap, I think I've seen a recreation of this on ROBLOX. It was quite literally named The Random Elevator before it was deleted a few years later.

You should play anemoiapolis. It's not a gmod map but it handles liminal spaces beautifully. But these elevator maps are so charming.

Holy God in heaven this is a trip to the past. I was OBSESSED with this map as a kid, especially the end room. This really is such a well done map and I wish there was some sort of sequel or large update or something.

The apartment/suite that you arrive at in the end, if I remember right, you could interact with the remote and you could play videos on the TV, like those movie theater maps where you can request videos by copy pasting links I believe And I’ve only been on the map a few times years ago, but I think there are some rooms/events that I haven’t seen yet. I don’t remember the room with the robots on conveyor belts.

I remember alot of youtubers would play this back then, this map is really well made for its eerieness and weird floor levels.

I remember the guys at VenturianTale playing this game 9 years ago. Those guys were the best kids entertainment on youtube back in the day. too bad they got exposed for something i dont remember about. thanks for the nostalgia, Lib.

Oh my gosh, I used to play this map all the time with friends, just to see what wacky things would end up happening (and to play in the room at the end of the ride). Such a nostalgia trip seeing familiar events, and it's especially interesting to see it from someone coming at it with fresh eyes.

This reminds me of when Vanossgaming and his friends played this, nostalgia overload.

I miss playing this map back in the day when servers ran it. Being in this wacky elevator with other players and all of you, from what I remember, actually being able to die was amazing.

Natural Selection really didn't like Darwin, it seems.

It just feels like Isaac was just a normal person on the elevator and he was just standing there making sure you were safe and Darwin was evil so he just got rid of Darwin or he couldn’t stop the elevator from going to that floor and Darwin was good it just feels like Isaac was some type of God

Darwin origin story! Also,funny how we met a Hamlet here, theorized to be the devil himself And then, fast forward a year or so, we now have another Hamlet, arguably even more possibly evil as this, who comes in and sticks around, though, unlike this Hamlet, he's taken prisoner involuntarily

A map dear to my childhood, I used to play this over and over again, I love this map. By the way you can actually blend with the blender at the end of the map, you can put in different ingredients to make different drinks, each with different effects.

Elevator Source is nostalgic, I remember watching VenturianTale play it.

This map has a extreme nostalgic connection to me, I remember watching videos on this map for hours on end. So seeing you play it years later makes me so happy.

What a delightful trip you took us on. Definitely reminded me of my first time on this elevator, because I did the exact same thing you did, making up narratives for the characters and I even think I started to make alliances too! It was great to watch someone else react the same way!

This REALLY makes me want to see you play Jazztronauts, which I believe one of the creators of this map worked on. It'd be a bit of a long haul of a game, since it calls for you to go to other Gmod maps and collect things, but it could be fun... and the NG+ ending is a really good fit for this channel...

I went to a friend's B day party when o was a kid, at one moment me and other kids where in the elevator and for some reason it toom us to the last floor, there was problem with the lights and the whole floor was dark, it still got that weird feeling of something that shouldnt happened, i didnt remmember this until i saw this video Keep the great content and sorry for the english

Gm tower was a mod made by pixeltail games. It's hard to explain..... You play games, earn money, and buy gear for yourself and furniture for your apartment.... I guess it was sort of a social game. It shut down years ago and became tower unite, which you can find on steam today.

Damn, I completely forgot about this. The first time I saw this was on Uberhaxornova's channel WAY back in the day. This unearthed so many memories.

remember playing this in 2012/2013. replayed it a lot just to see new stuff, got spooked too and looked forward to the spooky ones to show friends. good times.

I discovered this addon very early in my gmod career and it was my absolute favorite It holds a special place in my heart, also I know this is 2 years late, not only can you play billiards and slots, you could also make drinks with the blender and random stuff in the cabinets fridge and on counters

What would be really interesting would be if various floors had triggers for the NPCs, so the same floor could have a slightly different experience depending on who's in the elevator at the time.

This is a little off topic but, I find it very funny how everyone in gmod (including myself) naturally talk with their mouse and keyboard by pacing and accentuating their words with wrist movements. It genuinely looks like your character is talking like a puppet in first person and it's weird how we all do this naturally after playing gmod multiplayer for a few hours.

Fun fact! On the top floor, theres various items in the cupboards, fridge, and around the room that you can place into the blender to create different potions and whatnot, atleast from what I remember, that couldve been native to the server I played on.

"GMOD Towers" was basically the primeval version of Tower Unite. Basically a social simulator MMO / arcade.

This map is a classic. It was one of the first playthroughs I ever watched back before stuff like twitch was a thing. There are some details you missed though. The TV actually works and you can actually put stuff into the blender and well…blend it.

This is one of my favorite maps in gmod.

When I hear music I'm not sure about while recording, I whip out my phone and run it through a music id app to see if it's free. By no means foolproof but still useful to figure out whether I should keep talking over it or not.
