Yes GMRS works just fine one the 778 UV. It’s not a type accepted radio for that band but it will do the job. The main thing to pay attention when using a radio of such is to stay within your guidelines know where you should or can transmit and where you should not. In other words, don’t be a lid.
As long as you’re not interfering with other people, I don’t see an issue with it, but that’s just my opinion. Some GS mobile radios are overpriced. Now you can get some middle of the road decently priced radios that are type accepted. So that’s good. 👍.
