Good Morning George! Thanks for sharing this video, I enjoy them all!!! But my almost 3 year old Josiah really loves the Goofy Cart!!! Blessings to you all!!!
Yea the Goofy kart is running. I'M so happy for you finally success. I was afraid it might be geared a little to low when I saw it on the bench and the speed of the rear tires but the should be an easy fix. Have a great day George!!
I'm sure you're a very nice person but wow that video was excruciating to watch. It took forever to back it out of the shed and then you couldn't get it to move across the yard after struggling mightily just to get in it. And I'm 63 with a store bought hip and knee with 5 vertebrae fused. It either quit or was spinning for goodness sakes.
I'm not worried about traction and I got rid of the live axle because it was scuffing too much on turns. Remember, this has 15" wheel/tires on the back and not little 8" slicks. It's more fun to spin the tires anyway and that's only on the dirt. Thanks for stopping by.
It had a life axle originally, but scuffed too much on corners because of the large wheels and tires on the back. Leg room? This is a go kart, legroom is not an option, LOL. Thanks for stopping by
You need to put some positive traction on that both wheels in the back need to spin. Then you can drive in the grass and stone a lot easier without spinning.
I built it with both wheels driving originally, but it scuffs too much going around corners with the big tires on the back. What I would like to have is a limited slip rear axle, but they are very expensive. Thanks for stopping by
George, it’s hard for us older fellars to bend like that anymore, ain’t it? lol! I talked about watching you get in that thing. Shoot I could probably get in it, it’ll be getting out that’ll be the problem, and if I did get out I’d be stoved up for a while! Hey but daggone that rascal is cool though! Oh heck yeah, I’d call that a win, right?
Looks good George. Great job on the Goofy Cart. Have you considered adding a bumper to the front, to protect it, in case anyone crashes or bumps into anything ?
I built it with my grandson's dimensions originally, when he was 10 years old...but...he grew up! The dimensions are great without anyone sitting in it, LOL. Thanks for stopping by
Definitely too low for off road use. It used to have a locked rear axle, but with the large wheel/tires in the back it scuffed too much. It's fun to be able to spin the tire now, eh? Thanks
Yeah, it's smoother operation now without the locked/live rear axle scuffing on corners. It is different than a normal go cart with little tiny wheels and tires on it. Thanks for stopping by. Stay tuned for the opposed twin engine debut coming soon. Dual carbs, dual exhaust, twice as many hp and hopefully double the fun!
Well, you need to get up to date. I have put a twin cylinder, 18hp engine in it with dual carburetors, dual exhaust, modified timing and more! I originally had a live axle in the Goofy Cart, but with the large rear wheels it was hard to turn because the wheels/tires would scuff in the back. I split the axle and it works much better. It still won't spin the tires on tar. Thanks for stopping by. I am considering doing that, which is the same thing as a torque converter setup for go karts. I am also looking at upgrading the engine to a 23hp V-twin engine and eliminating the transmission and right angle gear box setup altogether. I'm not sure I'd want to drive this at 60mph... we'll see! Thanks for stopping by. Stay tuned for more updates soon.
Needs a posi it that beast.. very cool.. as we get older, we are loosing the minds of people like this do to just time.... dont make em like this anymore... reminds me of my grampa doin his shriner thing in Cinci. #🤤
It has posi originally, but because of the large rear wheels/tires it would scuff too much, so I isolated each side and now it turns much better. Thanks for taking a look.
It originally had posi, but due to the big wheels/tires on the back it would scuff too much going around corners, so I split the rear axle and now it turns much more smoothly. Thanks
We haven't ever had it up to full speed yet, but you are right, it isn't very fast, but hold on to your hat, because I am now installing an 18hp opposed twin engine with dual carbs and dual exhaust! Thanks for stopping by.
I'm heavy enough, thanks. LOL It no longer has a live axle by design, since it was very hard to turn with the large rear wheels/tires. It handles pretty well now and it's fun to be able to spin the tires, even if it is only in the dirt. Check out the latest video to see the speed we achieved. Thanks for stopping by
It originally had posi-traction and cut the rear axle. With the large rear wheels and tires it would scuff really hard and make it difficult to turn. Besides, it's more fun when you can spin the tires! LOL
@TheShadeTreeFixitMan Oh, ok, you're right, it dose add more fun factor. That is one of the coolest home builds I've seen!! I hope you get to do parades and car shows, because everyone will love it👏👍
It works just fine on the tarmac which is where it belongs. I used to have a locked rear axle but it scuffed on corners too much with the large rear wheel/tire setup, besides, it's fun to spin the tire! Thanks Mike
One wheel Drive !! Mmm May want to rethink your rear end drive (((( problem )) Think about a life axle with a C.T clutch assembly !! It will work much better than what you have !
I originally had a live axle, but with the big tires it was scuffing too much while trying to turn. It works much better this way. Thanks for stopping by.
