I don't play a Herald, so I guess this means that very soon I will be the only one doing damage, with my shortbow Daredevil in blue gear and no trinkets. That should be interesting. On the bright side, at least I will get to tag all the mobs.
I love you! Was totally puking from running around in circles on Shortbow Thief. Then did some levelling on my guardian and noticed that I was better off healing and providing boons. Then saw this video and I swear I'll never go into the lab without my Herald ;-) So chillaxed it's crazy. I use the hammer auto attack on bosses and otherwise don't touch a thing. Trophy bags from my Jade Bot and all kinds of loot just flowing on the right side of the screen without doing anything. Sorting/selling inventory while the squad does the work and I still contribute with my boons. Win-win
i absolutely hate that so many ppl are now aware of this build. already on the second day, i joined 2 groups that had more than half of its members play boon-herald and not doing any damage. we left around 40% of the mobs alive while we moved on... i went from approximately 550 bags per hour to less than 400. this build sadly only works if you have enough other damage dealers with cleave else you actually loose so much gold
Experienced this too, commander and non heralds memeing hard on chat "oh! welcome the 10th Herald to the group" "oh no! we lost 1 herald". And yes, kills were taking sooo long
LOL every herald just wants easy leech , also 99% of the time complaining about bags/loot are people running the herald build , they get mad and frustrated because their easy leech isn't working, expecting people to farm for them, and amazingly enough they will find ways to blame each and anything except their boon build XD
Underestimating Replenishing Despair trait.. which gives you an extra +1 energy pip so you get a bit more out of rising momentum as well as perma quickness.
You can run jalis over ventair for the stab from roads if you're doing the lich. Helps with the fear and shockwave. Go back to ventari for the high viscount candy corn storm - I always appreciate revs that bubble that instead of just standing around.
Im playing a modifyed version of a quickness heal herald and its great. U dont have to tag anything, but get loot for buffing and healing people feels so much more rewarding.
For the mobs you are missing shortbow fixes that , also run in the front where the thiefs are , the only thing that stops you is a root, so i am running condi cleanse sigil and fire, if you run with the f2 open your boons last longer so you have a higer chance to get loot even if you stumble, jalis is really good cause road is a light field, does damage and gives stab to 5 ppl while you just stand in the mid with hammers giving quick and might at doors, and runni g around at doors is better than standing on a place
I ran untamed+staff+full givers from one of your videos last night with my guild but did notice it got really slow when someone inevitably opened one of the boss doors so I appreciate the full offense herald option you have here. Low Intensity farming + beat down boss option will be real great. defo gonna run this tonight!
I didn't play this exact build, but while running around doing the lab farm on my herald with some xp boosters, I managed to make 32 gold/hr and 29 spirit shards/hour for a 2.5 hour run. It was wild. I forgot that I didn't have a jade bot on that character, so I even lost out of some gold by not having the a jade bot scavenger protocol.
It was pretty close, to be honest. I noticed I missed some loot with Herald when a lot of mobs instantly got taken down. But it functioned more than fine in all other scenarios. I'd say untamed can guarantee that you get literally all the loot, while Herald gets most of it (90-95%?), but you get to basically do nothing if you don't want to.
If you have an ele and for some reason don't want to run a hearld, soothing mist from the water traitline pretty much works as a budget version of this, just note that soothing mist applies slower than boons so you won''t be as efficient just standing around like a herald does. Just camp water attunement. You might want to go tempest because of the large amount of swiftness it gives via overloads from Harmonious conduit (as well as alac from lucid singularity), plus you can aurashare for extra boons on others (water -> powerful auras and tempest -> unstable conduit) with the earth traitline (elemental shielding). Something like water 2-2-2, earth 3-3-2, tempest 3-2-2. Just don't overload fire except at bosses.
@@phandrel I did a very short trial run on tempest and it worked quite well, although it works much better when you aura share instead of just waiting around in water because soothing mist doesn't apply as quickly, from my short time testing. Signet aura share is still un-nerfed in pve (only got nuked in pvp/wvw) so its still great in pve
Would a boon Catalyst work here? Feels like the Jade cores are MADE for door events (don't use Fire, obviously), and while Cata is generally a meh healer, it's not like you need a lot of healing in the lab. Can still take soothing mist and can reset cooldowns if you need extra tags in a pinch. I haven't tried it personally (tried Mirage for the first time this year and am absolutely loving it), but it seems reasonable.
@@SheenaMalfoy Probably works. Its just that generating energy on cata is kind of a pain if you aren't managing to hit anything in between doors. I never experimented with Energized Elements. You can still aura share easily on cata though.

My main is herald, and it is a little sad to see heralds just leeching, literally doing nothing. I swap between shortbow, hammer, great sword, etc...tagging, hit bosses all while booming. I play other professions, and sadly herald is just better when engaged. I do not have an untamed or daredevil with a shortbow though. Anyway, it is what it is.
Yeah, the Lab is very much a group effort thing. It'd be good if people saw when tagging would be helpful and then "sit back" on regular enemies whenever there's more than enough killing power by the group. It's a bit of a fickle line though and not everyone has the best intention. The one good thing I've noticed, is that there's less daredevils outpacing the group this year.
This will work great when theres 47 Heal Heralds and 1 Mirage, 1 Untamed 1 Thief :D Darens posted this build yesterday (maybe the day before), so now you have too, its gotten some mass coverage between the 2 of you j/k im sure everyone is unselfish enough to realise they only need 1 or 2 Herald per instance, and be volunteering to go fetch an alt
@@phandrel I wont see the fallout anyway, i just always watch your videos and try to leave a Like and a comment Im not doing the Lab, no judgement on others, but to me it feels kinda cheating amd i'd rather be poor I just wouldnt feel i had earned it fairly When i say "cheating" not accusing anyone, you do you, but it cant be what they had in mind when they designed it And as a stuck at home disabled person i often play 16 hours a day, so i could really rake it it in if i wanted to
@isty4491 the feedback is very much appreciated! I love hearing from anyone who watches my videos. I cherish the lab for what it is, a once per year event. Granted, I don't make that much money from it, as I use the candy corn to unlock all the skins, minis, etc. I'm missing.

Ah man I really have a problem with this. I really hope Anet makes it mandatory that supports need to inflict a point of damage to get participation in PvE. This afk farming nonsense is not good for the game and Anet has ignored it since HoT released. It does not benefit anyone or the economy. It's pure selfish shit that goes against everything a MMO stands for.
Yeah, it's been a thing in Verdant Brink for years as well whenever it's Bauble week. I'd love for boon sharing to keep participation because I believe it can be used in a good way as well. But it heavily relies on the player themselves. At the same time I agree that abuse should be curbed in some way.
This isn't afk farming lol, and this build is GOOD for lab farming groups. You WANT some people not attacking. Just not when too many people are on it. And in most groups, its solely the heralds themselves getting less loot. The only time anyone else in the group is negatively affected is when stuff isn't dying.
It really depends. If your group exists out of mostly other classes than Herald, it is a great build on par with mirage. If too many people are playing Herald, you're better off going Mirage.
