Giants in Norse Mythology were usually the antagonists in Norse Mythology, they also will have a major role in Ragnarok as the destroyers of the world, other times they would be the source of misfortune for the gods, and Loki was the son of a giant as well. I mean they are considered to be as powerful as the Aesir and Vanir in both mythology and in the God of War series... hence why Odin sent his best to take care of them.

In the actual story Starkad rapes her and gets her pregnant. Her son has a child who is also called Starkad and is his reincarnation. Thor hates this reincarnated Starkad because he wanted to have Alfhild for himself and so he curses Starkad 2 with many curses but Odin gives him many blessings

I suppose it's a little hint that he's of a different Mythology (Maybe Celtic Pantheon). Mimir, himself, implies that he isn't from Scandinavia. "There comes a time in every man's life where he changes his name and heads north to start a new life. If you live long enough to do this many times over; you may end up as far north as this place." He's also travelled a fair bit serving as an advisor to a Faerie King, among others, before he met Odin. :-)

Are you seriously scaling the titans to Starkadr because they’re both big? That is stupid. It’s straight up stated by Kratos that Thor with his bare hands hits as hard as any opponent he has ever fought (this includes Zeus, Kronos, etc) and with Mjolnir, this is even higher. So Thor hits harder than ANYONE Kratos has ever fought prior. Not to mention that the novelisation of GoW4 has Baldur (who is relative to Thor) being hyped up as stronger than anyone in Kratos’ previous life. (This was before he even realised Baldur was immortal too lol) GoW4 Kratos > Olympus Era Kratos (stated by creators and backed up by canon works) The fact Starkadr is above Thor just means he dumpsters the Titans in the greek series games

Jötnar are basically counterparts to Titans since both of them are races that preceeded the gods and have comparable powers to them with the difference the Jötnar being mortals and mostly less powerful. Do you realize how stupid your assumption is in itself? The novelization should be taken with a grain of salt given it gave some informations that contradict what were shown in the in-game lore like Forseti's existence and Baldur being the strongest opponent that Kratos ever fought. The only reasons Baldur could keep up with Kratos were because of his invulnerability and the fact that Kratos refused to use his full power, Cory Barlog himself stated in a tweet that if Kratos used his full power against Baldur in their first fight Baldur would be incapacitated for the whole game. Compared to the Greek Gods Baldur's feats aren't that impressive and he didn't have any power/magic that allow him to cause large scale disasters or anything that's impressive. Without his invulnerability Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, or Ares would trash him especially Zeus who could remove his immortality like what happened to Prometheus. Kratos also stated that Heimdall was no mightier than the gods he had fought before and mind you that Heimdall was Odin's left hand man and he most likely was more powerful than Baldur. Even if it's true of Thor is physically stronger than Zeus, Thor relies a lot on his hammer (+ its thunder property) and brute strength and he doesn't have anything else beside that while Zeus didn't even need the Blade of Olympus to give a bloodlusted Kratos with all his weaponries a tough fight due to his arsenal of magics. Mjölnir also is pale in comparison to the Blade of Olympus in terms of powers, especially after it was shown that its equal is the Leviathan axe which is also nowhere near the Blade's powers. Also it doesn't have resurrection property like in the myth which means Thor didn't kill Kratos but knocked him unconscious and Thor used it like a defibrillator, if it did have the resurrection power Thor would've used it to revive Magni and Modi. Starkadr is comparable to the Titans and the Hecatonchires thanks to his feats but did you just ignore the Titans' feats? Atlas literally carries the Greek world to this day and Cronos in his weakened state survived having his stomach cut open with the Blade of Olympus, those two also granted Kratos their magics which greatly aided him in his journey.
