A collection of all versions I could get my hands on for the track "Echoes of an Old Life" from the masterpiece of a game, that is, God of War Copyright to Sony Santa Monica studios and Bear McCreary
"The power of a weapon, any weapon, comes from the heart, but only when moulded by the mind." - Kratos to Atreus. This is the same thing he ends up doing. The sentient foul blades that once brought destruction of life are now being used to preserve a life that Kratos loves more than anything else in the world. The Blades of Chaos are now redeemed with their wielder, and fit to be called "a family heirloom." The story of Kratos teaches us that even if your past is filled with contradictions and wrong steps, it is never too late to reinvent yourself.
Agreed on everything but one thing, I don't think Kratos is letting Atreus use the blades of chaos as long as they live. The blades may have helped save Atreus's life, but I don't think Kratos believes it's something he wants anywhere near his son's hands. I think he sees it as a necessity, a blood thirsty weapon meant for blood soaked hands.
He swore never to use the foul things again, but when desperate times come, sometimes it is the only choice. Bearing the chains and the Blades again, he now wishes to make peace with them - not to be reminded of the bloodshed he once committed as a servant to Ares, but to be better.
This one set of scenes, man, just... way to just nail it. What a fucking SCENE. "There is nowhere you can hide, Spartan. Put as much distance between you and the truth. Pretend to be everything you are not... husband. Teacher... FATHER... but there is one unavoidable truth. You cannot change. You will always be... a monster..." "I know... but I am your monster no longer." WHAT A SCENE, man. No matter how many times I replay, that alone gives me a chill down my spine whenever I play the game again.
The actor of kratos Christopher Judge, saw the refrence of he and his family in kratos when getting the blade , then cries when acting that scene. Very emotional moments, u should watch
I love the way they handled the Blades return in this game. Instead of treating this like a triumphant moment, they treat it as it is. A tragedy. Kratos getting the Blades of Chaos back isn't a good thing. These blades were the cause of so much pain and regret within Kratos' life. They were the blades he used to kill his family, his father, and likely millions of other innocents. In the game's official novelization, it says "The shrill screams of those he had killed flooded every corner of his mind". This is a moment of pure pain and anguish. But, within that anguish there is hope. The hope to save his son. These blades now have a new purpose. Instead of being used to destroy and kill, they will now be used to help those in need. There is so much packed into this one scene, it's insane.
I literally love this game, i played the campaign 15 times, and im not lying. I also know the name of each soundtrack, and i had the world record in sigrun, but game breaker god broke my record.
Damn man, you my dude! The hilarious part is that I've STILL yet to play the game, haven't gotten a PS4 yet, but it will definitely be my first game on it. I fell in love with the game by watching playthroughs and other related media. My personal best game and I've yet to touch it lmao
@@sheriffthiccos9595 lol, crazy to see someone on the same boat! Never played GOW but I've watched 3 playthroughs and I consider it the game of the generation!
@@TheNightNot Lol same. I'm literally burning through the entire series now in chronological order to be on time for the new upcoming one. Went through Ascension and COO, am now on GOW 1 💪
"The Blades of Chaos. Forged in the fowless depths of Hades. Once attached the chains remained so, chained and seared to the flesh, a part of the bearer's body. A permanent reminder of Kratos's pledge. In return, ultimate power."
Something cool I noticed about this scene; throughout the game, we have seen Kratos routinely perform feats of superhuman strength, such as ripping up boulders and pushing down the hammer. And yet, he has to physically struggle to put the Blades back on, a testament to how much weight they carry.
It's not so much the Blades themselves weigh a ton - it's the _pain_ and the _guilt_ he has putting them back on his wrists. They were his burden as a slave to Ares, a merciless killer as a God of War and the tools used to end the Greek Pantheon. He hesitates putting them on again because they were a curse laid upon him. Now he must make peace with them in order to save his son.
7:17 I think they used the same vocal theme but slower to represent his past that always torments his mind over and over with the mistakes he did, a true mental tiredness. I love this soundtrack. It's very powerful, melancholic, sad and meaningful.
i love how you can hear church bells in the background, both referencing a place of death (forshadow for helheim too) and the race against time to get atreus to freya
While wearing the chains he didn't care what he'll become once more. When Athena said he's a failure to be a father that's where he got pissed off and glared at her. He let her roast him for his wrongdoings, but when family was mentioned that was where he solidified himself as a monster who will fight for the son he loves.
The whole thing or just the bombastic part? Some of the tracks used are more dynamic and specially made to fit a scene so they ain't real fit for a loop. But the combat track works for that.
@@rosephjosen nope, just found it on an off chance while browsing for desktop wallpapers, don't remember where from, but on a recent search the author's name doesn't pop up
Love to the OG G.O.A.T gaming series and this was the soundtrack like which like dropped my heartbeat when I saw the blades of chaos emerging again in the gameplay. Thank you so much.- Okami
6:00 to 7:00 Boi! Listen close, I’m from a land called Sparta. I made a deal with a god that cost me my soul. I killed many who were deserving *nods in reassurance with a serious look* ... and many who were not. *nods in repent with a graven look* *turns* I killed my father.
7:46 - 8:21 It almost sounds like a Greek Lyre is playing the background whenever Athena is talking during this part, which is kinda clever that they implement something from Kratos’ homeland into the soundtrack. At least that’s what it sounds like to me or am I confusing it with another instrument?
Yo nunca he jugado ningun God of War, los he visto de lejos.
Bro that was hype af, can't wait to see what will happen. Especially to see what Thor really is like, I feel that he would be the whole "quiet rage incarnate" type of character, a nice parallel to Kratos' explosive fury if it were to happen.
That particular part doesn't play during the Blades of Chaos retrieval scene, but I can't remember where else it could have played. It's from the OG soundtrack list. I just liked it so I added it instead of the usual way it progresses in the game during that part of the story.
To play a God Of War game without Kratos..would be pointless. That would be like killing of Ratchet or Clank. Just wouldn't make sense. Piss lots of people off, and most likely to loose a f**k ton of money. They better be careful. Hope Barlog doesn't break under pressure and sell out. Cause if he wanted to; he could take his rights of the game and do something else. Oh wait he already did.. it's his f**king game & Character!!
Naaah Cory has a true passion for the series, he ain't no sellout. The new game would more likely be delayed than made hastily. And I doubt Kratos would die, I believe they will set up the next chapter which would most likely be Egypt once they close off the current story. If I remember correctly, Kratos cursed to never die right? I dunno if that was cannon.
@@sheriffthiccos9595 There's things worse than death, and it matters what is left for the character to become. Even in the old games he changed through each installment, but the only thing truly left is for him to find peace. He's begun that, but the end of it is in sight. Atreaus can carry his father's legacy if they do it right, and if so people will understand. A character's death, even if beloved, can be the right thing for the story if done right. Now I won't say that this is certain, but I do hope that if they do end Kratos' story, then it will be satisfying. Sad? Sure. But make it satisfying.
