I first saw your channel when I was 9 years old. I was born into a very conservative muslim family. You have showed me a lot of things and you have showed me the answers I have always wondered but was scared of asking. I became an atheist at 13 and spread the light to my friends from then on. Now I am 19 and I am greatful for your work. I do not know if you will see this but your videos suddenly started being recommended to me again. Felt like I had to say this. Funny thing is I didn't even know english and just picked up few words here and there and tried to understand from the animation at that time. Somehow I understood the events and some of the points you made because I used to read a lot of religious texts and stories when I was a kid so I understood what events you were talking about in your animations.
This message makes me emotional. I understand being a child and being indoctrinated. The guilt and shame was too much for me and Deconstruction came easy for me. Channels like his have been so essential to my Growth as an atheist.
I teared up when you spoke about earning two lifetimes of income in one lifetime. Your son is so lucky to have you as his father. I am not in a financial situation where I can donate now, but when I get to that point, you'll be the first channel I support.

I've been a big fan for several years and I love this new content. I've always doubted religion, even when I was confirmed I kind of thought it was a scam, but I tried hard to get into it for years due to family friends etc. It wasn't until my time in Iraq and Afghanistan I fully embraced atheism and I've just loved your content ever since. Most people have heard “Jesus/God loves you”. Does that mean they have a relationship with God and will go to heaven? Depends on the individual. A relationship is 2 sided, you receive love and you give love back. God showed His love by suffering, dying on the cross and rising from the dead for you, now you show Love back by repenting of your sins (lying, stealing, sexual sins, taking the Lord’s Name in vain etc) and believing in Jesus as your Lord and saviour so that Heaven is in your future not hell

Well done. I was an emergency physician. I had a patient who was shot in the chest. It missed his aorta by less than a cm. When he recovered a little he said, "the man upstairs must have been looking out for me that day." If I could have, I would have said, "I would hate to think what would happen if he were pissed off!" I work as an aviation inspector and study lightning here in Florida. It sounds like you might of been struck by a "positive" lightning bolt. 95% of all lightning is negatively charged and won't really damage planes or houses. That other 5% is like ultra mega powerful lightning that can blow a hole in a plane or house.

It being higher up makes it harder to discharge, making positive bolts less likely, but when they do occur, they tend to be much more powerful, given the higher energy difference required for a charge to transfer between the top of the thundercloud and the ground, as opposed to the bottom of the cloud and the ground.

I thought houses are protected from lightning these days. Isn't the lightning directed straight into the ground? Is my house not protected? We get plenty of lightning around here. Haven't had a problem so far.
@@jonstone9741 It would have to hit some kind of conductor that goes straight to ground. Even then the conductor has to have enough mass not to melt instantly like a fuse does. It's so rare that it's not really standard on any houses. You could put a lightning rod at the top of the house, but no houses have that really.

I survived child abuse starting at 2 weeks to 5 years old. I have found the same, a lot. Even people who told me "Look at that as a test dear. God loves you." I could never understand how a just and loving god could allow the torrent of a fresh innocent soul. I couldn't figure out how that could even add up fair in their minds. I am glad you are choosing to open your creative mind. I can't wait to see the truths are still locked up in there. We need to add more of your voice into the collective wisdom as much as we need more souls to wake up to reality. And get closer to being able to fix our world.

When I was a kid lightning blew a hole in our roof…the ensuing rain storm caused lots of water damage…the insurance company literally called it “an act of god” and refused to pay…this was the late ‘80’s.
Yes, "act of God" is a legal term that basically means freak accident, something that was out of anyone's hands. Not the best terminology, but it's not necessarily a religious term.

When I first started watching your channel back in May 2013, I was a believing Catholic. I only wanted to hear the atheist side of the story, as well as their arguments, to be fair. I have been clean of religion since April 2015, largely because of your channel; I never thought I would leave religion. You taught me that religion is not true; you taught me that atheism is the truth. Your channel and what you do matters; I now hope to de-convert people from religion as you did for me.
The truth is that we're genetically modified apes, created by beings from another dimension, who are coming back under the guise of the Millennial Reign.
I'm also an ex-Catholic. When I was a teenager, I thought atheists were ridiculous. How could anyone not believe in Yahweh? Well, I stopped going to church when I was in my late teens and read books about different religions. I because to question everything I've been told. Then I became an agnostic. After watching atheists debate, and doing some deep philosophical thinking for many years, and watching a few DarkMatter2525 & NonStampCollector cartoons, I became an atheist.

I do like how you say "clean of religion" like it's a drug, I've often thought about how indoctrination builds a dependence relationship that can be addictive, not necessarily in the "chasing a high" way but in the way where it can seem like the only way to cope in the moment but creates a far bigger problem. I don't want to diminish the deliberate abuse and predation of many authoritarian/cultish religions like evangelicalism (and apparently catholicism is very similar) through that comparison though so I know it's not adequate to describe the whole situation at all. Just a comparison I've noted - they do build your dependence on the system itself and nothing and nobody else.
The thing about youtube is, if you aren't uploading daily it's damn near impossible to gain viewers. Im glad you're all okay, hopefully you get everything situated.

Talk of insurance companies weaseling out of paying always reminds me of when Louis Rossmann's repair store had to shut down for a week because they had no power and despite him having insurance specifically to cover being unable to open due to things like that, the company said he wasn't covered for floods, but he pointed out he wasn't closed because of a flood, he was closed due to a power-outage. They said the power-company was flooded. 😒
I would think any direct damage would be covered. Otherwise what's the point. I see people around here getting brand new roofs from very minor hail damage. If "god" does lighting, he's probably in charge of hail too... honestly I feel like it's a bit of a ripoff to the insurance company, or actually really to all the other policy holders who have way higher rates than necessary. Because they pay out 10-20k for a bunch of roofs that lost a couple shingles... maybe I'm just jealous I didn't file a claim, wouldn't mind a new roof, but didn't feel like filling a claim for minor damage planning to get reimbursed for non-existent major damage was ethical

Ironically I only am an atheist now because back when I was a Christian I wanted to learn more, I was in a bad place and I seeked God, but the more I looked the more I realized how wrong I was, the claim you just made is actually common and is generally referred to as the problem of the existance of non resistant non believers, the answer you gave to me, not only you of course, is that us atheists don't actively seek God or that we do it resistantly, but that just isn't true, I looked for a God as a Christian who wanted to believe more strongly and understand , I trusted that the truth would reveal itself, but I didn't find anything, and the more I look the more I realize just how wrong I was, and I am not the only one, most ex-Christians are only ex-Christians because they read the Bible and seeked God, to say otherwise is foolish, also you can't say that atheists haven't seeked God, since atheism is position in regards to the existence of a God, how can someone have a position about something they didn't even seek at all, it's not like this is about gremlins, it's about God.

I didn't 'convert' to anything, I was a Christian, now I simply lack a belief in a God, personally I find the term agnostic a bit vague but it is primarily a state of doubt about whether or not a God Exists, which technically is a state in which every person that deconverted from a religion was in some point in, now of course this is to say I am not curtain of anything, but I can say that I don't think a God Exists, meaning I lack a belief In a God, this is not to say that I believe that there isn't a God, but I just don't believe that there is one, small but important difference.

wow. this atheist had a tree branch take out my electricity and internet line this month. lost several electrical objects, but not my computer or telephone. dang. i've had all kinds of unexpected expenses this year and it's really hurting. you have my deepest sympathies and i hope your son processes this with good results. i had to wake my neighbor because my phone was cut off and i was afraid of fire. these events are just random acts of nature. no god.

My tale of dodging god's thunderbolts came while staying at a mountainside home, watching a thunderstorm roll in from the sea. The storm blotted out the high-rises of the Gold Coast, lightning dancing towards us. As the storm passed over, the sharpest crack I've ever heard announced the arrival of *ball lightning* crashing down the chimney! It was about the size of a soccer ball, and it richoched fast across the room before escaping through a closed screen door. It fried the stereo & lamps, blew some fuses, & left my hair standing on end; but I was exilirated by my encounter with such a magical phenomena.

That is terrifying to think about happening, am so glad to hear that you are all okay physically and that the damage was not more widespread. On a different, heartfelt note, I am someone who is disabled and not able to work for any extended periods of time as is expected of people in the modern day, but my parents refused to get the diagnosis that could help with adulthood survival, and used a variety of tactics to push me into positions where my body and brain have been further battered in efforts to be the 'normal' kid they wanted me to be. As someone who experienced this, I cannot overstate how much it means to me, knowing that you are doing this work to try to make your sons life manageable for him. Knowing that there are parents like you out there, who are actually supporting their kids long term when its needed. I don't know if this will ever be read, but it felt important to me to voice this, because it really does mean so much to be a supportive parent. (If anyone reads this and is worried, I struggle but have friends who have gone above and beyond to make sure I don't lose the roof over my head, and have at least in adulthood been fortunate enough to find supportive people outside of blood relatives)
I'm glad you have better people now. I'm also someone who can't work currently and thankfully I also have a person who has supported me when my bigoted parents did nothing but abuse. It always makes me happy to see caring parents out there who really want what's best for their kids and not their own performative egos. And chosen families who care for people where their parents and conservative communities refused to!

I lost both my parents last year and I live alone and feel even more lonely now with them gone. I've been struggling lately and trying to connect to something like a higher power because I feel so alone but I dont have faith and I don't think I ever will for the obvious reasons. Think we've all been in a situation where we think something is kinda trying to really kill us, but the plan fails every time Believers will say it's real haha
In 1993 lightning hit the transmission line pole connecting our house. At the time, a friend and I were playing Evander Holyfield's "Real Deal" Boxing on a Sega Genesis game console. When it hit, it smoked the line connecting the pole to the house, which the power company had to replace, it blew out three circuit breakers, the TV, the Sega, the refrigerator, the washer and dryer, and just about every electrical device in the house. It also gave both of us mild shocks to our hands from the game controllers. I remember feeling lucky nothing caught on fire as it hadn't rained in a while and everything was bone dry outside. Since then I always try to have a surge protector in the circuit of any electrical devices in my house.
Oh hey, I'm in Florida too! Been watching you for a while. One of my neighbors just had this happen to them too, but it caught the house on fire. They were able to put it out pretty quickly, but there's a bit of damage.
