Nomura states in the Ultimania book that Aerith is the most important character in the game and that every line of her in part 1 will be very significant to the upcoming parts.

This is so true especially after watching Pollen Ainne’s video “Signs of Complicit relationship part III” this interaction between Aerith and Cloud just shows how Aerith let Cloud being himself and didn’t force him to act certain way. Sleepezi definitely got the sauce on alot of his theories. This is something he briefly mentioned in his theory videos. The fact that she keeps being called mother after she goes into the lifestream and has similar abilities into Minerva would make it make sense.

Have you read "FFVII Remake: The Investigation Unit within the Planet" by Kazushige Nojima? It is just another little tidbit to add dimension to Aerith and to her experience with Shinra/Hojo as a child. It is from the FFVII Remake World Preview Book. It adds context to her loneliness (and hide n' go seek game) in the graveyard scene and her comments about being a quitter and giving up, as well as why she must go to Shinra willingly as an adult. It also adds to why she seems to bear the weight of responsibility on her shoulders for what information she shares and what she holds back.

12:30 On that note about the Hymn of the Fayth being played into the train graveyard theme, I also noticed while I was playing FF7:R another tune within the Train Graveyard, it bugged me for so long because I recognised it, but after a lot of skipping through FFX's ost I found that there is a section which sounds a lot like part of FFX's "To the End of the Abyss" (albeit slowed down) as well. Love FF7:R's soundtrack, god damn beautiful.

I knew that water is a big part of the game. Because when you have Tifa waiting for you outside Aerith's house. The camera pans over to the water outside her house as you go in for the hug. I'm assuming that's how you can go back to bring Aerith back as she'll appear as Minerva and make an Advent Children scene appear telling Cloud to go to the church.

I'm glad you say sleepezi's videos. He did some good work and deserves to be magnified and shared. Also the lyrics to Hallow mention outstreched hands at a darkest time.

The Maiden Who Travels The Planet was included in the FFVII Omega Ultimania so the events that follow in the story should be true. Aerith definitely seems like an angel or a guardian who more than anyone wants to save the planet and has the potential to do so. On the side, I think the whispers are actually the souls of the past and maybe future living beings of this planet. But maybe not just any souls, but souls who have a connection to Jenova or the geostigma, as the group of whispers that circle around the Shinra building near the end of the game reminds me of the negative lifestream that Sephiroth summons in Advent Children. They are black, travel like the wind and howl in pain (as Aerith describes it). Now knowing that Loz, Yazoo and Kadaj showed up in the form of whispers, I think it is plausible.

I have a theory that the only way for Cloud to finally defeat Sephiroth once and for all is through redemption. Sephiroth must gain enough of humanity to back to trust Cloud, and then repent for all he's done. Only then can he accept death and diffuse into the Lifestream never to return.

I believe Aerith and Minerva really work the same. Aerith is the last of the "ancient" who is the rightful heirs to the planet. Minerva is a protector of the planet so it is probably in her right to protect Aerith by all means. Minerva could be how Aerith can talk to Cloud and others even when it shouldn't be possible in Advent Children. Aerith can talk to the planet, but Minerva is probably how that happens.

Im betting money that Minerva will be a Boss fight... maybe even the actual final boss.

My core reaction to "The Price of Freedom" is to sob even when I'm not sad and it get me here EVERY TIME

This is a good theory. What will happen is that the cycle will really repeat just as Sleepezi's theory video says, but it will be different than usual. Cloud will use the lifestream but he'll purge Sephiroth from within himself just like in the original, and this time around he'll destroy Sephiroth completely so that he can't try to revive himself like he tried to in Advent Children. Then Cloud and/or Aerith will make it so Holy does kill all the humans just like it does in the original version(except for everyone inside the Alexander fortress summon which will allow the Cetra bloodline to survive as it did any previous Holy-based resets), but then your God Cloud theory will play out and he will stay alive with the lifestream only to eventually revive humanity 500 years later. One way or another, he and Aerith will eventually bring back humanity. I think that Cloud will probably not be a literal god, but he may be more like an immortal ghost in the same fashion as Aerith is right now, and the two of them would oversee the new humanity and guide it towards an eco-friendly future civilization that manages to act in harmony with the Planet's natural reserves. Or maybe it will not take 500 years, and the current civilization of humanity will be preserved, but there will be some kind of force making it so they have to adapt their civilization no matter what. For example, if Planet blew up a lot of the Mako reactors when it used Holy on Meteor and forced people to start adapting if they don't want it to choose to eventually exterminate humans. I just think that Nomura wants Cloud and Aerith to make it out alive in one way or another such that they don't eventually die permanently. He doesn't want them to dissolve into the lifestream and vanish. It seems like that's one of Nomura's key driving motives here, along with making sure human civilization in the game survives in a way that isn't at odds with the Planet.

One thing that has always taunted me since they introduced Minerva, is she a protector of Gaia, or is she part of Gaia, or is she a sibling of Gaia? I get that Jenova is something similar to Zeromus that crashed into the planet on some kind of meteor ship (small planetoid, lunar colony ship; potayto, potahto) and is more or less in a fight with Gaia akin to Bhunivelze and Chaos. If your current theory is correct, Aerith is a l'cie to Gaia and Sephiroth is a l'cie to Jenova with both being on the verge of surpassing their sires and becoming gods themselves. And in that assumption Cloud starts of as a l'cie of sephiroth and in advent children trades that out for being ghost-aerith's l'cie. Remake Cloud seems to be someone that both Sephiroth and Aerith want to raise up into a third god, and whether he chooses one, the other, or a balanced mix will be interesting to see. All the while Gaia and Jenova don't seem ready to pass on control to this new generation of gods.

My theory is actually Sephiroth intends to replace Minerva rather than destory the planet. He has always shown divine symbolism... And the things Aerith says to him before you fight at the end seem to indicate she's sipping Minervas koolaid..but slowly breaking free. Sephiroth even asks Cloud to help him defy destiny...destiny which would be dictated by Minerva.

If FF10 and FF7 are linked, I hope shinra (especially hojo) discover that portal in Bevelle with super dragons and mega tonberries in it.

definitely agree that Aerith is some kind of goddess. that theory is as old as Advent Children. and the idea of her being what changes the Planet's will is as old as the OG. So OG Aerith is speaking to current timeline Aerith to change the destiny of the original timeline. and there are layers to that. like the whispers LITERALLY being the planets will. they are part of the lifestream, in all their Jenovo corrupted glory. They even have the screams of the Planet.

Beautiful theory, Pez. But COMMON MISCONCEPTION. Cloud does not possess Zack’s memories and therefore he doesn’t act like as if he was possessed by him. He just claimed Zack’s accomplishments, not his feelings. If you really played the OG, the whole point of Cloud’s identity crisis is that Sephiroth was able to make him believe that he is just his puppet by letting him assumed that his false recollection of the Nibelheim tragedy is true. Thus, when the truth was revealed to him - that it was actually Zack in his place (and forgetting that he was there too when the tragedy happened), he suddenly questioned his existence as a real person and/or doubt that he had his own free will (when during the OG course of events, Sephiroth was able to make him do things against his liking because of the JENOVA cells injected inside him.) He was thinking that maybe Sephiroth was right about him being just his remnant (that he was just like the black hooded people or Kadaj gang in AC). That’s how the war hero planning to get even with Cloud - to destroy him mentally and emotionally by invalidating his feelings (look back to Sephiroth’s last words to Cloud after killing Aerith - he invalidated Cloud’s feelings and told him he was just a puppet.) But, thankfully, the lifestream sequence happened, with the help of Tifa (and Aerith for making sure they survived from the exposure to the lifestream - lorewise, if I wouldn’t assume it was Aerith who aid them - like how it was told in the debatable canon novel The Maiden Who Travels the Planet -, I doubt that the two could ever get out alive), they were able to isolate and pinpoint that Cloud had distorted memories of that event only. And he was starting to remember that he was there too when the tragedy happened (Tifa was only informed at that time too because she didn’t know too), while he also realized all his other past memories remained intact and are true being a real resident of Nibelheim. In that lifestream scene, we found out that Tifa and Cloud had an accident and Cloud was blamed for it. Tifa and Cloud weren’t close back when they were kids because of the boys surrounding her made him an outcast. That’s why, at the start, she was having a hard time convincing him that they were indeed childhood friends, even about their promise scene being true because it’s the only time they had an actual interaction. But nevertheless, she was the only living witness to validate Cloud’s existence. Cloud just went out there assuming he was a 1st Class SOLDIER because the mako poisoning messed up how his brain functions. Thus, with poor cognitive performance, he associated himself so much with Zack’s accomplishments as a SOLDIER (and you may say that part of the reason is ‘becoming a SOLDIER’ is Cloud’s failed dream/frustration). Psychologists might be able to explain it better how it works if we will apply real-life logic. But moving on, so when he and Tifa digged deeper into his consciousness and finally learned that all his past memories are true and only his memories of the tragedy is false (or half false because he was really there but the actual events just happened differently from what he believed plus his vague memories up to their escape to Midgar) - He realized that he just really didn’t make it as a SOLDIER but that doesn’t totally mean that he wasn’t a real person who has his own will after all. Despite being delusional and ashamed fool, he can still live out his dream as a hero to save the people dear to him - Therefore, he was able to break free from Sephiroth’s evil manipulation and, more than ever, he is determined to stop him. That’s what actually made Cloud’s whole character arc beautiful (which is almost comparable with FFIX Vivi). That’s why, for me, Cloud is somehow still being himself both in the OG and Remake. Meaning, the “Fake Cloud” we are saying here is the Cloud being himself (egocentric, rude, indifferent) but only assuming he was once a SOLDIER. That’s why he was portrayed cocky and pretending-to-know-his-ways when, at times, he was just as clueless (like Aerith pointed it out to him few times in the Remake and OG). You may say Zack influenced him to be a mercenary, but how exactly to be one, it’s still Cloud’s own way and experience as we see in the game (OG and Remake). If you still believe that Cloud possessed Zack’s memories, think of the following questions: 1) Why Cloud doesn’t recognize every person Zack met? The Turks? Zack’s parents in Gongaga? More importantly, Aerith? Cloud even forgot Aerith the 2nd time he met her in the church, right? 2) Why Cloud doesn’t feel any “deja vu” when he visits places where Zack had been? Why is he not familiar with Aerith’s Church and him falling inside it? It happened the same way to Zack, true? 3) Why can he still remember correctly his childhood in Nibelheim, along with his memories of his mother? 4) Outside the Nibelheim tragedy up to their escape to Midgar, are there any other memories of Cloud distorted? 5) Did we see any trace of Zack’s memories inside Cloud’s consciousness during the lifestream sequence? Did we filtered out a memory about Zack? 6) Memories should change our behavior and personality (so many movies and literature out there also show how it’s supposed to work) but how come Cloud and Zack remained polar opposites? Zack being people person and warm while Cloud remained aloof and cold? If you can rationalize around these questions well enough to support your claim, then I might believe you. Otherwise, I’m still convinced that Cloud doesn’t have his friend’s memories like literally in his head as how most of you assumed it. Zack may have hugely influenced him - like being a mercenary, but how exactly to be one is still Cloud’s own experience. BTW, in the OG, Cloud explained it himself to the whole party what really happened to his mind. Just read on the game script or browse the video. On the side note, this is the reason why “Tifa not telling Cloud the truth about Zack and the Nibelheim incident as early as she can”, for me, has a significant bearing to his identity crisis in OG. The real problems might have been identified (if not solved) earlier if only she reacted to Cloud immediately when he told his own version story of the Nibelheim tragedy to them. This dynamics can be further explored and explained in the Remake. It would be interesting to know deeper why Tifa didn’t tell Cloud the truth for almost the entire game. We will see how the Remake will handle that.

Wow dude thank you so much for recommending sleepezi theory that was mind blowing. I mean you presented ideas that got me thinking about things I noticed in more legitimate way .....but sleepezi blew theory crafting out of the water. His elaboration made me see what you mean about Minerva so much clearer. It was an incredible 4 hour ride I could not believe the level of symbolism that is involved in his grasp of connections he covered. Absolutely level 10 mind blowing and I was right at that lv 4-5 with maximilian dood after playing with my knowledge of advent children and the lifestream stories...I came to those conclusions too. But holy materia batman I was more blow out of the water by these revelations than I was when I learn about the music break down. You were right if you really are looking for a truly unique future theory....sleepezi got it....got job you broke fate freed evil sephiroth and now the planet hates you too. Have fun fighting ultimate. LoL it makes total sense I had to replay the game and this. We information just fits so well the ending is in a whole new light now. I highly recommend you watch the full mind blowing break down sleepezi gives and replay the game it's more incredible than ever. Also take the time to watch Alex Moluka music he does the most incredible break down of the symphony that is ff7 it adds so much to the full intensity of the story.

Genesis loves his brothers "Sephiroth" and "Angeal" what if he could surpass Minerva and take her place? what if we could get Angeal and Genesis to help Sephiroth and they all join to basically give the world its "hard restart" at the cost of the 3 lives (angeal, genesis and sephiroth) in the very end and genesis and cloud are to take over certain roles for the better of both the planet and the people?

I'm so happy someone noticed the water connection. I never had the words to explain it or really put my finger on just what it was. But the lifestream connection makes total sense that's what I was sensing. There is a part in advent children where clouds phone hit the lake and aerith like the dream version in the remake leaves cloud with a similar message. It's not the same like I thought but haunting in the same way

I feel like FF7 is about life vs death. The Planet vs Jenova. White Materia vs black materia. Aerith and Sephiroth are simply Avatars fulfilling their will. Cloud is the corrupting force on Sephiroth's influence in the same way Jenova corrupted Sephiroth and attempted to with Cloud through Sephiroth. And later humanity with the stigmata manifesting as Sephiroth through her dark lifestream. Purifying it freed Sephiroth to be his own person

I think that FFX and FF7 being in the same universe just mean Gaïa and Spira are both Planets from the same Galaxy. By the way I love your theories and extrapolations ^_^ I even bet that at least one of your theories will go true

The bit about "the consequences of destroying the Weapons" reminds me: who exactly is the man in Kalm who asked for the Earth Harp and Desert Rose? For the longest time, we'd all just figured he was optional-sidequest man and didn't think that deeply into it. But what if the artifacts retrieved from the Weapons play a role in the lore as well? It doesn't seem to be coincidence that Cloud's ultimate weapon is retrieved from the body of Ultima Weapon. At least, that's what I think can better explain the reason for the name "Ultima Weapon" other than as just a pun.

I still havnt played through the game yet but have heard the changes made. So does this mean when Aerith died in the original timeline used the life stream to send herself back to the remake timeline. Which is why she can't be revived in the original timeline, because her soul was no longer in the original timeline.

This is a good theory Pez. Although we have to remember the alternative timeline with Zack being alive. Since there are two timelines we don't know how that is going to play out. Would Zack be in the same position as Cloud as in your theory? How does Cloud fall into that timeline? I would honestly love to hear a theory on a possibility of how Cloud fits into that timeline with Zack being alive.

Looking at people and therapy, we often develop defence mechanisms that kept us safe at one point in the past (jenova) and later are no longer needed (minerva, the weapons). It's like the planet is undergoing a transition into maturity and working to get over it's trauma. The question I have is how will the planet effectivel eliminate Jenova completely, or what's left of her.

I have a theory that Aerith became a goddess the same way Sephiroth wanted to become a god. Basically absorbing the power of the lifestream where it collects where meteor hits. It makes sense in my head

She is not that manipulative, and her visions even are that complete, she just try to make it somehow work for people she care about. she jsut pretend be hapier than she is, and stronger than she is for other people, expicially for Cloud. Around 35:50 is when I started to see the Flnal Fantasy VII Remake as not a remake of the original, but a continuation and final chapter of the Compilation.

What ive been saying since the minute i saw the ending of remake this game is the new cannon a result of incorporating all the additional materials in the compilation bringing them all together in cohesion. The compilation retconed and added so much that og 7 didnt really make sense anymore it created a lot of plot holes. The remake will bring it all together and show the results of all the cause and effect this is compilation ff7 not a remake of og ff7 a remake of the compilation universe of ff7.

So i was looking at this and did you notice that in the Cetra scene...the calamity falling was Yellow, but the tail of it turned Purple??? What If, That was actually MINERVA??!!😵🤯🤯🤯

Or it may be granted to him by minerva in a form of a weapon, we haven't seen yet the appearance of angeal's sword, the only weapon with a perfect gold wings motif design.

i love aerith first time i saw her

For the past 5 years I've been developing a story about a boy whose life decision are dictated by an assortment of ominous visions until he realizes he is actually seeing memories from a future life he has not yet lived. Given that the reader has no experience with the main character's future self, I don't know if it has less effectiveness than how FF7 is playing with this idea.

Now after finishing this video, I'm certain that the Remake is a remake of the world of FFVII. A world being guided towards free will, while the OG FFVII is a world of Control. Both games, both versions of FFVII represent the duality of life. Both games are different sides of the same coin. It's why the Remake still and will still follow the core principles of the original. Key points in the timeline will still happen. The foundation is the same, what makes up the coin, but there will be a different etching on this side of the coin, the Remake side of the coin. So I guess OG FFVII can't really be called the original anymore, just like the Remake can't really be a remake. I'm going to start referring them to FFVII: Astral Edition and FFVII: Umbral Edition. Borrowing from FFXIV with this, but Astral Edition deals with a solidified structure that can't be changed (static), while Umbral Edition releases that control, or breaks free of it at the end of Part 1, and becomes a journey of chaos, change and unlimited potential brought on by free will. What are your thoughts @finalfantasypeasent if you read this?
