When bands such as Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were fizzing in the mid to late 70s, Priest was entering their prime. They kept heavy metal alive until Maiden and Metallica arrived. Today, I listen to some Korn and Chevelle . So it just may be true that rock and roll will never die. "D
That would be such a great surprise to hear at the show if you didn't know it was coming. Kind of like the medley in 2003 they did featuring Zeppelin, Rush, and Metallica.
I totally agree, you can see where bands get their influences and it's from bands like Judas Priest. Rob is and always will be a trendsetter for music today. Judas Priest {Grandfathers of Metal} Black Sabbath {Godfathers of Metal}
As long as you can accept that Sully just doesn't have the range of Halford, it's a pretty respectable medley of covers. And it's clear that Sully recognized it himself, as he doesn't even try to do that killer scream of VICTIM OF CHAAAANGES at the end of that portion of the song.
Why argue? Geez. Godsmack's intensity on any Priest cover would kick ass. Different sounds, but both WAY above the norm out there, folks. Get on board.
Godsmack gave it their all here. No, they don't sound like Judas Priest, but they put their own style into it. It is their tribute to the Gods of Metal.
as i have said before, bands that can do good covers are often very talented : there is the proof once again ^^ and Judas Priest and Godsmack are both great metal bands !
Very happy that they decided to include "The Hellion" in their version of "Electric Eye". Nevermind how they did. They fact that they included it makes it great.
Already a Godsmack fan. But going old school metal and Judas Priest especially puts them on another level. Sully's voice is alot more versatile than I thought. I would like to hear them do Black Sabbath children of the sea or Heaven and Hell, Neon Knights, you get the picture.....
This performance was more than just a "not so terrible cover". This was absolutely electrifying!. My jaw dropped in awe of the explosion from a single guitar. No need for 2, he power drives his skill, through a version, so unique that it blows the original away!. The singing was never an issue. As clearly all eyes are glued to the instrumental magic and composer. This was indeed the finest Priest cover I have ever experienced. I am a musician of many years and new to godsmack. Amazing fellas!
Best cover of Priest I have ever heard. It takes a fan of the band to perform a cover correctly and while I am no fan of Godsmack, they kicked ass on this tribute.
"Up here in space, I'm looking down on you, my lazers trace, everything you do. You think you've privates lives, think nothing of the kind, there is no true escape I'm watching all the time. I'M MADE OF METAL MY CIRCUITS GLEEM I AM PERPETUAL I KEEP THE COUNTRY CLEAN Unelected electric spy, unprotected....ELECTRIC EYE.
HOLY FUCK!!!!!!! ok so i saw the remake of "time" and thought why? and Godsmacks version is the shit! so then i see this!!! and i am blown away. THANKYOU GODSMACK! i am a preist fan from the 70's this was excellent!
Saw Priest about a year ago and they still kick major ass! Godsmack is also epic in concert. I saw them at Cruefest and they blew the Crue right off the stage!
Awesome!!! I have been wanting to find a cleaner version of the entire medley. Looking for the best quality version out there. I haven't found one so far.
It takes a fan of the band to do a proper tribute, and I may be no fan of Godsmack, but you can tell they are huge fans of Judas Priest and they rocked on this medley ...
