There is a new Monsterverse film in development, and it will be Godzilla x Kong 3. The film will be a Godzilla centered story, and the plot will be heavily influenced by Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. The film is set to be released sometime in 2027. Adam Wingard is not set to return for the next one, so we don’t know who will direct. Dave Callaham is writing the script now. He wrote Shang-Chi, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and he co-wrote Godzilla (2014)

They need to show these monsters from the point of view of the people while also having a good human story. These last few godzilla and kong movies have been nothing but cgi fest with no heart. You couldn't even tell these creatures are more than 300 feet tall for most of the movie anyway. The first godzilla in 2014 and kong skull island presented them a lot better than this movie.

@@rohan1748I think you're wrong especially the fact they were able to show a conversation with the apes without a word being uttered. That ground work could be having the Monsters be more of a focus with story still being told with less human aspect. The money this movie pulled shows most people want more focus on the monsters. The scale of the Monsters is shown in every movie, 2014 did a great job of showing it but they focused to much on boring who no one cared for and didn't show Godzilla nearly enough. And also Toho Godzilla Minus One seems what you're looking for.

I love the natural progression of the bond between Kong and Suko. Even with that "I'll beat a motherfucker with another motherfucker" moment. And the fact that Jia was prophesized as a hero who can rouse Mothra from her slumber is amazing, same with her meeting other members of her tribe. Also, I not only love the "Aw, shut up" punch on the ape annoyingly running his mouth a few seconds before Kong met Skar King, but the part where Kong lobs a rock and creams the one ape in the head. Fun fact: Dan Stevens also played The Beast in the remake of Beauty And The Beast.

If you're curious about what are the creatures in this film, The Creatures that appeared in this movie are: Leafwings(the birds flying) , WartDogs(the giant dog pack) ,Kong, Doug( the giant lizard stealing kongs meal), Parrot Frog, Scylla(the giant squid crab), Godzilla, Suko (the baby Kong’s name), vertacines (the flying creatures the ship was flying with), Tiamat(the giant sea dragon serpent), hell hawks(the birds that looked like a mix of hawks and bats), Warbats(the flying serpents), DrownViper(the sea serpent that attacked Kong), Tree Mimic( the creature that ate the mercenary) , Skar King, Shimo, and Mothra.

Additional lore on the coliseum bed: Its architecture is reminiscent of Godzilla's old Lair, from before the war with Scar King. Since that lair got destroyed by the nuke, Godzilla's been wandering around, looking for a new lair. Having found the coliseum, he's found something that reminds him of his old home.

The 10th Anniversary of The MonsterVerse. These iconic titans together have given us nothing but goodness. Kong for 90 years, Godzilla for 70 years and being part of this has been so entertaining. Movie No. 5, GxK is amazingly good. I saw it IMAX 3D with a packed house, opening weekend. The science, history, culture of this universe is vast. Some people go to watch these movies for the battles, but the background of such things are interesting to me and because everything has a reason to exist. The human characters are important (they are). Subtle connections from us to these beasts and beyond aren't just because of the same world, different levels. These Titans are the showstoppers, established or newly introduced, ally or threat. Loved the homages to the classic films with Godzilla's newer colors (Godzilla 2000 from 1999) and Kong's Powerhouse mechanism harnessing energy (King Kong vs. Godzilla from 1962). As for the battles, they are beyond incredible with the effects and Mo Cap, savage yet articulated. After all the hype and success of this film, you gotta wonder what could happen next? So much more they can pull from the classics to add in for this universe. Either way, we want more.

It's funny about the ancient architecture because Godzilla is older than any man made structure on Earth. So....wouldn't that make him technically more valuable, even historically, than anything in Rome or the pyramids? Plus, he gives no shits anyway. Some of the Great Apes have individual names: according to TV Tropes, according to the novel, the one with the blind right eye 👁 (and Skar King's main enforcer) is fittingly called "One-Eye" and is apparently one of Skar King's many children alongside Suko and other infants 🤔😓. The one that Kong tries to save from falling off the cliff but ends up having to kick him off the cliff for real in self-defense because he was a sorry little ingrate who still attempted to kill Kong after he had just saved his life 😠😡🙄😒🤨, his name was Stone Fist 👊 ✊️ 🤛 🤜. Another one of the initial attackers along with One-Eye and Stone Fist was called Catcher. Another one of Skar King's goons, the one crushed by Kong's giant swinging stone trap was apparently called Knob. The ape who was Suko's caretaker whom Skar King brutally murdered in front of Suko and Kong, his name was Gnarled Finger, and while "friend" might be going a bit far, the novelization reveals that, prior to meeting Kong, Gnarled Finger was the only Great Ape to treat Suko with any measure of kindness by letting him eat the scraps of his meals and shielding 🛡 him from being attacked by the other apes 🥺😣😔. And the Great Ape slave that Kong helps up and beats up the bully that was abusing him, while not named in the movie, was named "Boots" by the movie's vfx animators 🤔😉.

I love the call backs to the Showa Era Godzilla films in this movie. 1. The Iwi not only being the Skull Island people, but those who worshipped Mothra, like the shobajin in Mothra (1961) and Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) 2. The call back with Bernie talking about the Gargantua Insurance Company is a call back reference to the 1966 film, "War of the Gargantuas" 3. The Hollow Earth is a stand in for Monster Island from Destroy All Monsters and Son of Godzilla 4. And the call backs to movies like Godzilla vs. Megalon with the war of the surface people and the people of seatopia for easter eggs.

As someone else put it, the Military (In the US at least) is one of the biggest expenses for the national budget. Even if the old stuff didn't work, maybe this time it will. And if not, maybe the next time. And, to be honest, every plane destroyed by Godzilla is inventory space for a newer, high tech plane. So, its kinda a Win-Win situation.

To add to your comment about seeing it in theaters, I saw it on opening night in IMAX with my dad and it was absolutely phenomenal as well as being very immersive plus we bought the tickets a month in advance so we couldn't wait to see it.. You felt like you were next to these creatures whenever they roared and could feel the sounds of them reverberating through your body. Not to mention the roar that Scar king made when announcing himself to everyone after kong punched that lieutenant gave me literal chills. I saw this film 4 times in theaters and it never got old.

So the natives that were on Skull Island understood everything they were saying. James and Mason just didn't know that they only communicate telepathically. So when Hank Marlow said goodbye to them they were saying goodbye as well he just couldn't hear them. I love Bernie and anyone who complains about him takes themselves way to seriously. I enjoyed this as much as Skull Island. There was an excellent balance between the human and monster content. King Kong got his due and it was nice to see more of Queen Mothra. The synth wave music was yummy. 10 out of 10 itchy Kong butts. So happy it did well at the box office.

The reason why Godzilla was pissed at Kong was, in a sense, Kong broke the treaty. Two kings can’t rule one kingdom. Godzilla was to remain on the surface to rule as alpha. While Kong will rule and remain in Hollow Earth

As a Godzilla fan Kong redeemed himself in this movie also he isn’t old he’s at his peak, he’s a silverback in this film which means he is at his best. Also Godzilla was the mvp of this movie he took shit to a whole new level Couple things though 1) Shimo is a She, she’s an OG titan from hollow earth so she is one of the strongest titans ever Godzilla was only able to stand toe to toe because he absorbed all that radiation, regular Godzilla would’ve lost. 2) Suko is apparently Skar kings son, if you notice in the cave he had a harem and multiple kids that look exactly like suko, Suko looks like he’s the oldest he’s supposedly the same size Kong was in Skull island so about 100ft tall. The one that got pushed into the lava was sukos care taker regardless suko was still upset because he developed a good relationship with him. 3) Godzillas mannerisms are based on a cat according to the producer so along with being the protector of the world he’s very territorial & the number 1 alpha thats why he goes around keeping other titans in check unfortunately Scylla learned the hard way. As for Tiamat she was a victim of circumstance, Godzilla knew he had to power up, however Tiamat wasn’t going to just give her lair or even let him borrow it so he had to take it by force which meant killing her because she would’ve fought until the end. Godzilla is continuing to evolve he will continue to get stronger & stronger for new threats hopefully Space Godzilla, Gigan, & Destroyah. 4) Godzilla and King Kong aren’t enemies but their not friends more like rivals who can be allies when needed, both are Alphas, Kong was always the law on skull island and had no other equal so he grew up with that mentality, unfortunately for him Godzilla is just one level above and had to remind Kong who the top of the food chain is, regardless its not a bad relationship more so just about respect.
