Gojira The Art Of Dying Producer Reaction 

Cool reaction. I like your perspective as a producer. FYI, 95% of the song is played with real instruments. There are 4 band members: guitarist/vocalist, bass, another guitarist, and the drummer. The tribal drumming intro is played with drumsticks on a piece of metal. The rest of the drums in the song are played on a normal drum kit. The outro (the going to heaven part) is a guitar riff from another song on the album played in reverse. I don’t know a lot about producing, but I read an interview with the producer on this album. He said he uses it to A/B test other albums he produces. The whole album sounds amazing. The drummer is considered one of the best drummers in the genre. He can play fast/technical, but he really shines when it’s time to catch a groove. I could listen to that last “looping” section forever. Anyway, great reaction, and great song choice.

Regarding the organ question, that's a pitch pedal for the guitar, similar to a wah pedal. They use it in a couple of their songs. You hit the note, push the pedal down to shift the pitch of the note and they basically just slam it down to push it up a few octaves. It's a cool effect

What there doing at that part is there switching from 4/4 to 12/8 time, there just masking it a little because the riff that introduces this change has a distinct one two one two feel. The song Electric Feel by MGMT uses a similar trick, 12/8 is most often divided into 4 groupings of 3 three but it simply flips that on it's head and divides it into 3 groupings of 4.
