im American and obsessed with both, but for different reasons. the uk version is more touching in my opinion, while the American is more reality-showy and dramatic with families. Both equally addictive, but yeah, very different
The difference between the two shows is very much on purpose. It's a reflection of the culture and audience for sure. I'm not sure where the show originated but a lot of thought went into the importation.
When she said “I did actually get the chance to see him” in reference to getting to see her future husband before she lost her sight I actually started crying that’s so sweet and amazing
I never gave this show a chance because it seemed like trashy reality TV. But damn, this is one of the sweetest, most genuine moments I've ever seen. I'm so happy for her, and I hope Gok remembers his impact on this client if he ever feels low.
@@MixyMixerton The US versions are a lot like trashy reality TV, but the UK versions are pure and wholesome. Both Gok, and Jo and Al from Curvy Brides are phenomenal.
The moment Lucy described herself as a fox in the snow, you could see how much it meant to Gok. He looked like he was about to cry. I love this man. He's so amazing as a consultant and as a person!

I like how Gok immediately thought to prioritize a dress that had interesting details for her to feel so it was a good sensory experience. Something that would be beautiful for her and not just for the people who can see her.
Yes, Auntie Gok came through once again. Instead of just finding something to please the eyes of Lucy's guests no end (which he most emphatically accomplished), he sat down with her, gave her a tactile tour of the dress, and helped her visualize the gown. I loved Lucy's expression of wonder and joy as she delicately traced the scrolls and flowers in the lace. I suspect she'll remember her appointment with Gok almost as fondly as she'll remember her actual wedding day.
Absolutely. I am moved to tears. He literally helped her see her dress. He gave her permission to imagine herself. That is beautiful, powerful and a gift.
When he was describing the imagery of her in the dress, from being a fox in the snow to describing the lace and everything, it just brought me to tears. He really meant it when he said "we're going to bring back her sight today"

god when gok said “you can create whatever lace you want inside your brain” and the bride said “i never thought of it that way before...i have control...and I’m not usually in control” and started crying god i wanted to hug her so much. Gok is such a genuinely good person i’m crying so hard.

I agree with you. I am blind also, and I have been very inspired by this video. It has given me ideas for my own bridal gown when I get to choose it. I presume Lucy has red hair? the energy on lancashire syttd is completely different. they’re always mindful of budget, so sweet to the brides, entourage is almost always open to whatever the bride wants and if not gok usually talks them down. like the american one is a whole mess in comparison.
To be fair to the American moms, that version of the show thinks of a dramatic theme and gets the families to play along. “You don’t quite like her dress? Tell her you absolutely hate the dress.”
For someone who has had darkness as her constant companion for so many years, to make her imagine herself as a fox with fiery russet fur standing against a brilliantly white crisp snow field...Man! Gok is something else. He's not selling a dress to a customer. He is helping a woman feel like a bride! This is such a poetically beautiful episode of SYTD!
This version of SYTTD is so therapeutic not only for the clients but the viewer as well. Gok shows us how we can look, think and feel like our best self. The use of imagery and feeling of texture had me emotional. 😢

4:30 i absolutely love when Gok told Lucy that her dress has lace on it, but that she can take ownership and visualize what that lace actually looks like, I teared up with Lucy in that moment

I too suffer from depression. Major depression...once I felt like I was dieing inside, but I kept telling myself, " this cant last forever" that's what got me through and prayers.
I must be a horrible person. I thought that was the worst line. To me It's like he's saying "it doesn't matter how it looks. You can't see it anyway so just imagine it the way you want."

The camera crew did an amazing job. When you film something, it obviously shows you from the perspective of sight, you film what you would see if you were there. This camera crew filmed from the perspective of touch, they filmed what you would feel if you would be there and touch the dress. Also, the imagery Gok used to describe what shapes and colors she would see was beautiful and vivid, and he even stated it abstract enough to give her full autonomy how to visualize it. He gave her the painting tools for her to paint the mental picture herself. Gok, you are an empathetic soul, this was wonderful. I have a lot of appreciation for how you handled this 🙏🏻💝💖

same here...the term hormonal is so appropriate....I started crying just after seeing her beautiful smile...She is so lively and jolly even after seeing so much in such early stage of her life.
I don't normally cry watching these videos but Gok's kindness, love and compassion so strongly displayed and his gentleness with this bride has me in tears.

I wish more people were like him when it comes to helping people with disabilities. I’m disabled, and I get so many people who don’t know how to react with it. Some baby me, and try to do everything for me even though there are many things I can do myself. Others are rude af and act like if I can’t keep up with everyone else I don’t deserve to live. This man didn’t make her feel awkward about her disability by asking her a bunch of weird questions. He didn’t baby her or treat her like it didn’t matter what dress she had since she couldn’t see it anyways. He engaged her in the experience and let her come up with her own imagery of it, so she could feel in control and confident with it. He was simply her eyes for her, and explained it in a way she could visualize it, but let her control it all and decide how she felt about it. He also kept in mind that she would be more aware of textures so picking one with good textures was important. He did an excellent job and she looks absolutely stunning!
same! i’m also disabled and have a service dog (not a guide dog ), so it made me happy to see this kind of representation! the only thing i didn’t appreciate in this episode was that gok pet the dog and they didn’t show her giving permission. but this was so good!!

Gok is so wonderful. The way he flipped the perspective for Lucy and made her realize that she could actually be in charge of the experience ...That was so powerful. I've got a physical disability myself, and I can only imagine how much that must have meant for her. What a beautiful man. I'd love to meet him one day.
I teared up at this one, it really touched my feelers. Gok is very intuitive and that is what makes him so good at this. Those who seek to bring comfort to others, feel the most pain inside.

This stylist is how I imagined 'Cinna' would be like, when I read "The Hunger Games" for the first time: An extremely talented fashionista and skilled stylist, unconventional, a secret rebel with a cause, and a man of integrity and character, with such a beautiful soul and healing effect with his words, actions and craft, that it seems as if he almost belongs to another world... And almost out of place in this 3D material world, full of shallowness and superficiality. How he made Katniss not only feel beautiful but also touched her soul in a way no one had ever done before. The dress he put her in, made her go like ... "I'm not pretty. I'm not beautiful. I'm radiant as the sun!". The Girl on Fire, he made her. And Gok made this (absolutely wonderful) girl: "I'm a fox in the snow"!!!. *Soulgasm*. *Speechless* ❄🔥
I absolutely love Gok! I have fallen down the rabbit hole today and watched a lot of SYTTD videos, and he is by far my favorite consultant. The others all support the brides, but also push a little bit of their own agenda. Gok really listens to his brides. I also love how went above and beyond to help her "see" her dress.
The way he is helping her to "see" her dress is so sweet and tender. Everyone needs someone like Gok or Gok himself helping them pick their wedding dress.
Gok handled blindness so so well in this, both in terms of trying to make sure she's safe in the shop to just helping craft and shape the narrative, and making her feel empowered, beautiful and special. As someone who has to deal with transient blindness, I just think this was amazing. I can't speak for what it's like to be blind long term, but I know how much this would help me during my episodes of blindness.
I think I said this in another video, but I just love and admire how deeply Gok loves people. It's like he falls in love with every human he meets. Watching him really calms my heart and kind of makes me feel like "Life will be okay."
Yeah, the pound is worth much more than the dollar (at least it was before brexit and a few other issues which lowered the pound's value to closer to the dollar). the dollar in America has been inflated and continues to inflate with minimum wage rising and prices rising in response to minimum wage rising :/

I respect the boyfriend that stayed with her and even decided to propose! It shows he truly loves her. Sometimes there are people who will walk right out the door when his girlfriend becomes blind and don't want to give them a chance. I am not trying to say she is a burden, but he might have not wanted to try and see that she was not.

I understand that this was said with positive intention, bur please don't praise partners, parents, and guardians for staying with/ taking care of their partner/child -despite- their disability. Praising someone for coping with their partners disability is very backhanded for disabled people, even if you don't mean it in that way. It implies that our disabilities mean we're less worthy of love and affection, and that we are a burden to our loved ones.
Watching this again after some time since it first ran, and its still just as powerful as before. By leaps and bounds this interaction was Gok's greatest SYTTD moment. "A Fox in the Snow" is the greatest gift he could have ever given this lovely lovely woman.
This is the first Say Yes to the Dress where I've actually cried. Because it's absolutely pure and beautiful. There's a simple beauty in the way he helped her invision the dress in her minds eye, and when she walked out. She was absolutely breathtaking. She truly is a Fox in the Snow.
At 4:12 ...Those intimate shots of her feeling the dress, painting a picture in her mind, and the music is such a hauntingly beautiful moment. Yes she's blind but she can see exactly what she feels like. Gok worked magic here.
This was the most beautiful dress experience I have seen. I have my sight but the imagery and the time GoK took to give this young lady a vision of what she looked like was AMAZING!! GoK your compassion is definitely one to be emulated!
I don't comment very often but I just had to: This is by far the most amazing SYTCD version. Got is so knowledgeable and looks beyond it just being a wedding dress and understands how women need to feel. He doesn't just push for a sale, he really thinks about the ladies. As a bride myself currently in the throws of planning I would give an arm and a leg to be able to have someone like that help me navigate the madness of bridal. Moreover this episode made me tear up almost instantly and couldn't stop till the end. Thank you for making this. LOVE LOVE LOVE
I got married just under a month ago...The stress of organising is unimaginable by those who haven't tried it. I hope you are doing ok, and that your spouse to be is supportive. SMALL RANT/ADVICE from a Bride who survived: Remember it's all about the two of you. Plates might break, it might rain, a shoe might go missing or you might just forget to wear something old, blue or borrowed (I did forget all 3 on my dresser), but just think of how many perfect, impeccable weddings end in divorce! As long as you love each other and have fun together, the little things won't matter. People put too many expectations, and tell you "it's the happiest day you'll have." or "it's the most important day of your life." IGNORE THEM! It isn't supposed to be the happiest day! That would mean that every day AFTER that is downhill. It is not a healthy mentality, and will only add to your stress. The anxiety is at its worst just before you get to the isle. Once you see the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with, it all melts away and you just want to get to them. Take time to enjoy the day, it goes by so fast, and enjoy the love you found.

Fox in the snow is the most beautiful visual mindset and picture you can have. So beautiful and scenery. It is one of my favourite episodes, because I have never seen someone being so good in describing something and make it magical.
He definitely wins for best dress stylist out there!! He knows how to work with ALL types of clients and the way he’s describing the fabric and letting her touch the fabric along with giving her mental images is so heartwarming! You can see how confident and happy she was when he was explaining things to her! ❤️
What a unique episode. Most episodes have shots that are further from the bride and focus on the drama. This one almost felt like a sensory journey, seeing her up close and feeling the different fabrics.
I love how Gok took the time to sit and visualize with her so that she could imagine the dress and imagine herself in it.
