Yup, routine maintenance is very important. I must admit I was very surprised by the amount of debris in the cabin air filter.

First I take off the metal bits then put the gold plated stuff in the bin to be held until there is anuff for processing with the acid excellent tool set awesome video thank you for sharing this with us six stars brother

Great video. Getting ready to recover and refine my stockpile. Next, I would recover the foils in nitric and refine with aqua regia. It's quite easy and very rewarding. Pins should get a nice .005% yield.

Those were V.35 cable ends typically used with routers for WAN (wide area network) connections. Take me back i used to install those cables for an ISP in the 1990s early 2000s. Would have been quite expensive back in the day.

interesting how you get inside filter covered with that kind of debris???... the pin tool is useful as far you need to replace one or two and reuse the plug again as far I know they had very limited use dial so for scrapping not to god ... hmmm ??? i maight be wrong tough ... cheers all

I was surprised by the amount of debris in the cabin air filter. One of these days, I'll trace out the air flow so I have a better understanding of how the leaves and such are getting in there. Yes, that pin tool is designed for both insertion and removal. I'm sure they didn't anticipate someone removing all the pins but I haven't found a better tool or easier way to do a mass removal of the pins. I only use it when the pins are heavily plated to make it worth the effort.

I may be the only one who does this but I just considered it a gold plated coin worth about $0.08 at current gold prices of $70 and gold percentage of 10 thousands per gram Assuming each pin weighs one gram

@@sharkscrapper Of course you do have to reevaluate for the age of the pin since they used to put thicker plating (On Pins wecan be anywhere from point .001 to .008 ) on it which is npt easy to do But once you do that you only need to calculate for the current price of gold to know the value of the "coin" Number one that way I don't have to worry about melting them at all

Just a silly question, does the nickel or chromium in stainless steel make it less recyclable? I notice you separating it

The process is different and there are different prices for stainless steel

😮 there’s air filters in cars . Neat pin removal tool. Heard of them but never seen in use, great wrist action. Nice one Sharky. Next step for gold… give em to Irish .
