LMAO this video has already been demonetised. I’m telling you, RU-vid and weed are like oil and water. They’ll never integrate. I avoided the word weed like a plague for NOTHING haha. Let me just get it out of my system: weed weed weed weed weed. Ahhh that's better. Anyways important note: I forgot to mention this in the video, but please remember that this golden rule doesn’t just apply to delaying, but also lowering the dose (learning to be satisfied with less) and/or changing method (e.g., switching from bongs to a vaporiser). It’s basically taking one step (no matter how tiny) towards actively lowering the charge of your addiction while reframing your mindset. Or if cold turkey works go for that - especially when you add it with the momentum of therapy, etc. Also journalling helps a ton.

Tom has had some solid advice, perspective and empathy put towards this ‘issue’ I’m sorry you can’t freely express your opinions. Hopefully humanity will have a much better and understanding relationship with cannibals one day. Please don’t feel bad for smoking pot though, that won’t help you get out of addiction and bring you into hope and love. It’s more than okay, remember if you’re going to alter your conscious with anything on this planet, cannabis may be a good place to start and stop. Not to say it finest deserve respect and moderation. Being caught up on your weed usage might not be the core issue, go get high if you are ant/must too (as most people have reasons why they shouldn’t not smoke cannabis, not why they should) and work on that project you want to work on! Set the right steps, great advice Tom :)) Good to see you back mate, take care !

Hi Tom, thank you for good advice, I also struggle with weed addiction..let me just say that If it was just a habit it would by easy to break it and forget it, but the adiction is just a symptom, it will fade away If we heal the cause, which is some form of pain, some wound, not physical but emotional. Maybe you have already tried shadow work? Or parts work some call it... The only way out is in, inside the pain... Part of you wants to stop, part of you doesn't and it has a good reason. You need to understand that part, not bulldoze it. Its not a shame to relpase, its not a shame to want feel good, we all want that.. I feel you, it helps to know I am not in this alone, thank you for sharing your story Tom 💕

RU-vid does have a problem with weed or drugs. They're all probably sitting back & doing drugs. They have a problem with paying people.. it's all about money. The more people they pay, the less cash they have. Any excuse to not pay...

The whole “delaying the first joint” thing goes so much further than the topic of weed and has got me thinking so much about things that give me instant gratification like scrolling on instagram, food, alcohol etc. This has given me a lot to think about so thanks Tom!

California sober is the way. I do the same. Used to drink beer every night to unwind from work and felt destroyed by the weekend. Now I don’t take any substances (apart from coffee) in the week and then reward myself with vaped cannabis on Friday instead of going to the pub to celebrate with pints of beer. Feel so much more happy and healthy in mind and body.

Activity level directly correlates with cannabis consumption, I’ve found. For better and for worse. When I was burning the candle working 12+ hour days 4-5 days a week, I could smoke as much as I wanted with little tolerance buildup, so it seemed, but the moment I had more than 3 days off in a row and woke and baked even one of those days, I would feel no more than a buzz. So I started to take those days off seriously and abstain from smoking and no more than a few drinks if I did. I knew the science but forced myself to ignore it no longer. My initiating mistake was not finding business to balance out virtually unlimited hits of unnatural dopamine. Training the body to take small steps to learn how to replenish internally produced dopamine really helped. The hardest part is the willpower to refrain from that “I can get stoned just today, why not? I earned it” Mentality. I would feel better doing more in my day and smoking less when I had discipline, and that’s a big if, but it’s doable if you try long enough. Even still it’s an immutable challenge to hold off those persuasive demons but I now I fully believe in the process. And that’s made all the difference. I wake and bake only on special occasions and take weeks off at a time when I feel it’s even remotely necessary. I guess I round up the sentiment in that regard. Any inclination I’m overdoing it, I try to understand that it’s better to lay off the gas now than have to slam on the brakes later. With time, months in fact, instead of life supplementing cannabis use, cannabis supplemented life experience, which was exactly the frame of being I was in when I started going down this road, what made weed so enjoyable in the first place. The weed was just sprinkles on the ice cream, you can’t enjoy ice cream and sprinkles without the ice cream! If it starts melting, it’s just a phase change, you can always pop it back in the metaphorical freezer to chill back out. Best of luck everyone, Tom is right, finding motivation gets easier when you learn to let go and rebalance. Feeling the positive effects of filling up the life bucket or chilling the ice cream creates so much momentum I can’t even describe it. It brought be from the pits to the open rolling hills. A good bike ride feels 10x better than a dab rip any day. The mind is the body, the more you treat it like a temple, the effects will truly astound you. Like a ton of bricks lifted off the shoulders. That euphoric relief is unmatched. You will grow in new ways and develop wisdom. You can do it. Whoever you are reading this. Never give up.

The thing is Tom, addiction isn’t the issue. The root of addiction is emotional repression/ suppression. If we remove an addiction successfully what happens is that program holding the emotion back finds something else to distract us from feeling & expressing the held back emotion. If we can express the unexpressed emotions then the addiction lets go of You. I still take cannabis, but no where near the level before I did work on suppression/ repression. I can take it when I want to, but I don’t need to take it. 🖤❤️‍🔥

I would disagree respectfully. Emotional re/suppression CAN be the root of an addiction, but on a chemical level some shit just is addictive by hitting circuits that are made to reinforce a behavior (dopamine).

From The Thirst for Wholeness: Attachment, Addiction, and the Spiritual Path | Christina Grof: Carl Gustav Jung described the addict's craving as a "thirst for wholeness." Grof, a pioneer in the transpersonal psychology movement, draws on her own spiritual journey and addictive experience to explore the issues at the very heart of that craving - the longing for spiritual identity and the yearning to know the true self. Gives a whole new understanding of addiction as a spiritual illness, as much as a physical/mental/emotional illness.

I'm so happy for this video, I've been doing all of this myself and damn, it works. I can add one thing: at around 11:00 min he talks about how smoking doesn't necessarily get you out of a low energy state. When this happens you preferably should go on a tolerance break, if that's not doable simply do some push ups. Expel some of that physical energy and your mind will be too tired to worry, plus you might get some endorphins. Also as Tom writes, definitely switch the bong for a vape (herb vape preferably) and learn to be happy with lower dosages.

Hey man. If there is one thing I know, it's addiction. Story similar to yours, started at the same age with weed. Think I smoked weed daily for over 10 years. Eventually somewhere a long the line I got seriously addicted to both RC's, Crack and Heroin - for years. I'm clean for almost 5 years now, I agree that weed can be seriously addicting - it was extremely difficult for me to stop. Came here just to say I don't believe will power has much to do with this, for reducing or getting clean. In fact, you said it yourself will power is limited - you cannot rely on this - According to my experience and many other recovering addicts I know it's about your inner positioning. This Golden Rule make work temporarily but you will always fall back into it unless there is deep inner work made. To myself the delay method was just an excuse to keep using. Thanks for making this videol

What worked for me was dividing my weed into 1g portions. I had also time when I used much, on one weekend I could vaporised 2g ( I know, it's still little to some of you). I was compulsively redosing ect. I decided I will make 1g portions and 1g should last for a week. After that I was more counscious about how much I'm using and after some time 1g for a week was just enough for me. After some time I reduced it even more to 1g for 2 weeks. It's a psychological trick that if you have a small bag and you see how quickly it's decreasing you will smoke/vaporise much more than if you have a huge bag of 2 ounces of weed in front of you.

The more responsibilty and structure I had on my day the less I smoked. Somehow the weed cut itself out of my life more or less. In the last few years I only smoked one jay before bed. Except the sessions on weekends with friends. Then from one day to another I cut that habit too. It wasnt to hard for me. But I repaced the jay with a cigarette. Not better for health but completely different on the mind. So worked good for me to get off. Nowdays on stressy days I smoke a cigarett or two but never a jay. Weed only on partys or with friends. But even then I often dont smoke. Cigarettes are my only addiction I would say because ists somewhat like a most day or weekly habit. But I will cut it completly too soon. At least thats the plan. Keep Srong Brothers and Sisters u can do it!

A rule for those who haven't fallen yet: f you don't want to become an addict don't do habit things even temporarily, don't make exceptions What i mean by that is that don't be like "oh just this week I'm going to smoke daily" don't, because that week can become two then three... Have rules and apply them. Rules like "I only use weed once a week and it has to be on the weekend" The other thing is: edibles are less addictive than smoking. As a rule of thumb the quicker the effects hit you the higher the addiction potential. The slow edible comeup is safer addiction wise (doesn't mean you cant become addicted that way, just lower chance).

I'm sorry to everyone who gets addicted to weed. I've never had that problem. Every time it's not working for me atm, I just stop. I started at age 13 I'm mow 40. I've had around 6 years combined of the times I've quit. I am highly addicted to nicotine/tobacco. It sucks so bad. I think the reason most people can't put down weed is because they don't see anything wrong with it, & it helps with so many issues. I use to love wake & bake. Somehow I stopped it. First I had to eat before I smoke, now I just don't like it. I get more out of it when I wait a while & let my brain function properly first.

Cannabis teaches us how to delay everything we don't want to do in our lives. And then we can use the learned knowledge against this teacher to get rid of it. :D Thank you Cannabis. : )

started at 15, now 42 and still addicted tbh. just dreading the month of no sleep and knowing my acceptance of slack around the apartment will diminish, making the situation delicate in regards to the family-peace around here.. we are a messy bunch, and i'm a bit of an anal cunt when i'm not smoking. but it would be worth it, fixing sleep, anxiety, being in the moment etc. and the lungs! the time has soon come..

I honestly hate how it causes you ro forget dreams. If I would have known that was a side effect I wouldn't have started. But the dreams you get from quitting are some of the most otherworldly

same, 10 years. I told myself "it's a part of who i am" because that makes the concept of being dependent on substance use feel less damning and shitty. I haven't smoked for 2 days. It's evidently not a part of me and you choose it for a reason. It's a heavily weighted choice, it's still a choice. You are you. You're not oxygen, and you use that every second. You're not weed!

Let your stash run out. Then start growing if you want more meds. You need to wait months for it and you will appreciate it much more since your fostered the life in the plant. Act as though your dispensary and plug do not exist.....on your own now. It's hard but changes perspective

I was a heavy smoker for a good few years but had to stop because I got a job that does drug tests. At first it was hard, but I already was in a habit of exercising regularly so over time I adapted but also began to rely on nicotine more as a substitute in a way, so now it's to try stop that. I take the odd couple puffs now and then but now get too high very easily where it isn't fun lol

I guess I'm lucky in a sense. I definitely have a cannabis habit. But, after my experience with psychedelics. The nature of cannabis changed. Beforehand, it was a relaxing escape method. I could just smoke a joint after a stressful day and just chill out. After psychedelics, more so after a significant penis envy mushroom trip. Cannabis changed its tuning. It has the amplification effect that psychedelics do. Where. If I'm stressed about something, the high will be very uncomfortable. If I feel like I didn't do enough with my day, it'll be a shitty high. So my only enjoyment with cannabis would be after a good day. To highlight the positive mood. Also, after psychedelic use. Basically killed my tolerance. I only have to smoke half a .5. gram joint to be pretty high. If I were to smoke a full one gram joint in one sitting. I'd be on the moon, and hate it. It definitely is a habit I want to back away from a bit. Because I feel like I'm less lucid during the day. Currently trying to get off of kratom for the most part. That's the hardest one to kick. But I also want to work on getting weed to be more of a once or twice a week treat, instead of a daily habit.

I just smoke 1 every day after work somewhere in the evening, I like doing it, but if I go on holiday for 2 weeks I don't crave any of it. MJ probably limits my true potential and all that, but I don't really care about that.
