I don't get it, what's the point of all these GTI versions? They got to the point where you should just get a Golf R if you really want a Golf with this amount of power.

Hab den Eindruck, dass man aus den OPF mit anderen Anlagen sogar besseren Sound rausholen kann, siehe Ateca Cupra mit FMS Klappenabgasanlage - weil das dumpfe kommt dann noch besser raus und das DSG-Furzen ist weg. Insgesamt dann schöner, nicht zu sehr nach Blechdose klingender Klang, der Staubsauger-Anteil ist dann auch nicht mehr vorhanden. :-)

Dextro4Life Bloß nicht! Früher fand man sowas nur bei runtergerockten Baumarkt-Tuningopfern, heute sind proletenhafte Furzkanonensounds leider auch bei vielen Premiumwagen zu finden. Wohl der demographische Wandel der Kundenstruktur.

@@kampfmeersau Ist halt immer Geschmackssache. Ich finde das Furzen vom CS einfach geil, klingt irgendwie mehr nach Sportwagen, als ein GTI PP, der wie ein Wandler schaltet.

@@kampfmeersau Naja der Hyundai i30 N Performance (nur um ein Beispiel zu nennen) klingt ganz geil. Der hat auch Serie eine Klappenabgasanlage, find ich um weiten besser als jeden Golf -> Meine Meinung.

@@vab120 I am talking about buying a car but about the anticipitation we used to have for a totally new model.It was a completely different philosophy. Still if you have the money to buy every year the newest version of your anyway new model ,it is not the same thrill as it used to be with the 3-5 year anticipation!

That’s why they are offered facelifts of facelifts of facelifts every year. If I tell you that I actually pay with my own money, zero credit, zero loan, you’d think I am a dinosaur! Maybe like you. But the brands don’t want clients like us. A car every 5 years? Not enough.

There is a rev limit when standing still so you can't rev the shit out of the engine in neutral. That's why it isn't that loud, same goes for Porsche. The glorious sounding GT3 isn't sounding so special when being revved while standing still...

@@constantin4958 was ist mit dem aktuellen type R,?? Der fährt unter den FrontKratzern mit 320 PS auf dem Track alles in Grund und boden. Selbst A45 und Focus RS schlägt er. Jetzt meinst du 350PS sind dann zu viel ? wohl kaum !!! Das ganze hat wenig mit IQ zu tun sowie du meinst,einfach mit ein bisschen technischen Verstand.

@@bastianglimpel2489 Der Type R ist ein Sonderfall. Da hat Honda saubere Arbeit geleistet. Hätte der Type R jetzt aber Allrad wäre er nochmal schneller. Es mag zwar in Ordnung sein so viel Leistung in einen Fronttriebler zu stecken aber effizient ist das nicht.

Golf, the epic hatch that is considered the standard is now losing grounds to new entries and rivals in the segment.. Even a FWD CIVIC is faster than GOLF in straight line & in-gear, Hyundai is up in the game with i30 & veloster... Focus is undeniably the monster with its superior engines and handling abilities ... How much RS 3s, S3 s make sales compared to golf and these extravagant cars have no legacy to speak of moreover the MK f golf had the 2.5 5cyl VR6s etc.... even a W12 ... SO its high time that VW should reclaim the stance of golf...

@@cyrilmatthew2995 I do agree with what you say - but I think Volkswagen sees their Golf as a car that can blend in easily. The Golf R is for people that want more go but not much show. A 5 cylinder engine would be lovely but I don't think it fits this car. The 3.0 turbo V6 ? Maybe but I doubt it would fit...

Already any gen golfs are discreet especially in recent times where we have extravagant TYPR R Civics, Veloster, Mini's golf truly stuck on to its ethos to be discreet... THe 5cyl 2.5 CYL enginei mentioned was the same in house VW engine used in AUdi S3, RS 3 etc.... code named CEPA/CEPB... Even the current top golf with 300PS 2 l has more space in engine bay ..... The straight five is even lighter than the 2.0 TDi in GOLF TDI... THe 3 liter engine i mentioned was no the V6 engine ... Its the VR 6 engine exclusive to VW group.... 3.6FSI ...my aunt in canada obtained one from a used car market there ... Highly tunable beast with high potential ... MOdern 3.0 V6s will be an overkill for a Golf not to mention the W12 golf :) I just want VW to use the corporate straight five petrol .... de-tune it for Golf still it will be capable for 400 horses ....

@@cyrilmatthew2995 I believe the 3.6 FSI was only found in the Passat R36 ? I'm not from the Americas, but on my market that's what I believe. I remember there were test mules of the Tiguan or some other VW SUV using the 5 pot last year. Nothing happened though, but maybe a Tiguan R 2.5 TFSI might pop up with 400 hp ? Would be really awesome. But I guess there's the RS Q3 that's coming so idk

@Helle GTI TCR he meant that the Golf's price is ridiculous as a whole. That's Civic Type-R money for an inferior product in just about every way. Yes, the Type-R looks like a crayon but it's just a much better driver's car. And I don't think I need to mention the other elephant in the room: the i30N. I get that you like the GTI but you have to realize how bad the price is for what you're getting.

@Helle GTI TCR the interior of the Golf is something which was relevant last generation, its competitors have caught up. Even a Focus which was known for having its interior quality as a weak point has caught up. You'll find the interior in the Type-R and the N adequate. You say the difference between the Type-R and the TCR isn't that big in price, but once again you fail to understand that the Type-R is half a league above the GTI in terms of performance. I get that in your specific case, comfort and accessibility is what you require but don't try to defend the price of this TCR. Don't you understand that the price is Golf R territory? Also, Hyundai dealers offer decent discounts so you're probably looking at ~37k for the i30N, putting it at over 6k less than the TCR for what's basically a similar package. Again, I get you like the cat but the price is undefendable.

@@christopherl2187 I test drove the Golf R when I was in for a new car. They're made for people who just want to go fast to 100 km/h and don't care about the excitement and thrill a performance car brings.

Ash Cosmo the awd in the Golf R adds about 300 lbs, so not as nimble as the fwd versions of the GTI. The Clubsport and the TCR look mighty fun to me.
