Exactly what I thought. Dads trying to live through his kid. Quitting his job to help his son with golf telling his little kid who's around 13-14 that he's broke cause of him. One day the kid may grow up to not become interested in golf and if he's 18-19 there's nothing daddy can do. He'll be a broke SOB while his kid doesn't know what he is anymore because everything he grew up to be was for his dad so he'll be lost with himself. Bad situation

@stevedcase
@stevedcase 5 лет назад
@@robertmiller6910 Exactly. I mean no disrespect, but that's the problem with parents who have never had anything; they look at their children as tickets out of a bad situation, which lets be honest, the parents created themselves in the first place. This is America, not Saudi Arabia, India, or China. We are all individuals. While there are MANY people in this country who are on hard times, using the excuse that "we never had anything" doesn't work in my mind. Yes, there are people born less fortunate, a minority who has to deal with racial hardships, but there's not a single law or practice in 2018 which flat out denies success to those who commit and work hard. I like his mom a lot actually; she's more concerned with him walking across that stage and getting a college degree vs. killing himself, straining his relationships trying to be the next Tiger Woods. She's realistic and practical. What if he falls out of love with the game and wants to do something else with his life that makes him happy at that point? It would devastate his father...which goes to show that Kris' happiness isn't priority #1 to his dad, but making tons of money is.

Matthew Thompson Pressure does not excuse his father not doing his part to provide for his family. Where is this young man now? Pressure if he doesn't succeed who will know because he didn't have the expectations that come from past family success. For those "spoiled rich kids" they have the pressure of high expectations and available resources and a history of family success. Just sayin.

+kbkesq define cheap. A cheap round of golf here where I live is still between 50 and 60 dollars and that's if you play during the week. Good luck being able to get in enough rounds a year to progress. You'd have to spend a lot of time on the range and we all know the difference between the range and real play. (not saying spending time on the range isn't useful and detrimental to improving your game)

This is so bad. His dad is a lazy fool who lets the mom work. "We're going to be rich!" "I put him on the range in the snow." They shamelessly leech off a guilty old white guy. He's a decent golfer but he wins next to nothing. He won some little kids events with light competition but look him up now he isn't winning anything big. The father ignores the other kids. Shameless. Why doesn't dad deliver pizza or mow lawns? At least bring some money home. Dad: “I don’t have any money because i gave it all to you.” No he has no money because he doesn’t WORK. California is easy- this Poot kid can go to community college for free for 2yrs and make a 3.0 he gets guaranteed into a California state school. You don’t spend $200-300 per tournament for 15yrs and save enough money for college.

its parents like this that keep kids from achieving their true potential. i remember when i was 8 and i played a bad game in hockey my dad would drive me down to the local field to run laps. i was great at hockey but quit when a pro team wanted me out of fear of what would happen next

First 14 seconds into the clip and I like him already. Refreshing to see such a young kid with integrity. Make your own path, don't let people compare you to someone just because you share a skin tone. This is even funnier because Tiger Woods is more East Asian (Thai) than anything else.

Golf is such a hard sport to predict where this kid will be at talent wise by the time he's 20 (i realize this video is 2 years old). He seems to be intelligent and has a good attitude so that helps. Let's see how he fares if/when he's a freshman in college. Jumping from being a "big fish" in my state in high school golf to not even being on the traveling squad on my college team was a tough pill to swallow and I ended up quitting the game for about a decade. I started playing again for the love of the sport when I was around 30 and by 32 was an assistant professional at a private 54 hole club that hosts a Champions Tour event, took and passed my PAT and got into the PGA apprentice program, and ended up making a career out of golf...just not how I envisioned it when I was a kid dreaming of playing on the PGA Tour. I'm pulling for this kid to get that scholarship and get his degree. If his talents take him even further that's a great bonus. And bless those people at Oakmont CC in Glendale that are helping Kris with his golf expenses. Believe it or not things like this happen more than you think, it's just that many people who do things like this for others prefer to stay out of the spotlight.

I grew up on a family farm .. my father did not believe in Golf or any other sport .. I was expected to work on the farm after school and on weekends .. no time to even go swimming , farm work came first .. has a young adult I found out I had a talent playing golf .. but , I set that aside because my job came first .. so I'm glad for this young man , even if his father is rough around the edges

That is a whole lot of pressure on one very talented young boy. As long as he doesn't have a complete mental breakdown because of his circumstances and father losing it on him.. he should definitely get into a four your school. Stay strong Kris Stiles and just believe in yourself no matter how many high scores you might have.. golf is a game that nobody masters.. always remain a persistent student and you will do just fine.

There are a few reasons for the comparison. There will always be Tiger. Same as there’s only one Jack, one Arnie, and so on. They played their game and learned how to make their game play to the courses. If the kid gets a ride at a Div.I school he'll be getting a good education for free plus some difficult competition. Get his degree and then play pro. Best of luck young man. I’ll let rooting for you.

Just so you know....as for golf, it's not how good you are to a certain degree, it's if you can come up with that sponsor money to get in the tournaments as a professional golfer. No knock on the young man, but when he and his family comes to that crossroad, this will be the challenge, not just his talent. Q-school is a way to earn the pro card, but he will need major sponsors to get into tournaments, travel, and eat. Good luck young man and hope you get the break, that all of us didn't get at that time in our crossroads. Sponsorship is everything in golf......"Golf is the greatest game ever, that no one can beat!"

That’s a nightmare of a dad. A father should not see his child as a meal ticket! But thank God for people like the Pearsons, not only for the financial support, but for helping this dad see his child and not the dollar signs, and helping him be a better dad. A shout out to the mother for supporting your family and for realizing that education is the key. God bless.

his dad is the reason his talent was discovered and developed. I'm sure he spends his time productively as a stay at home parent. I guess if you have the character to do a yt about your modern family and how you put to much pressure on your son then a bunch of small minded internet trolls will have a field day, I'm sure he can handle it though, since he has the most important skill: humility.
