Mr. Cogorno, I was a 1 handicap many years ago then started having kids. As I played less and less, my handicap slowly rose to 25 in 2012 and I quit playing altogether because it was no fun. I decided to jump back in this year and I've been struggling with full-swing contact: weak fades, cuts, and pushes right. I watched this video two days ago, tried this drill at the range yesterday, and shot 38 in my league tonight (8-7-19). I hit 8 of 9 greens in regulation, hit 5 of 7 fairways, I was hitting my driver about 290, and I hit a 3-fairway metal 260 WITH A 10-YARD DRAW. This is the best drill I've ever seen or tried. I cannot thank you enough.
Eric, I’m a 7 index USGA, 65 years old, and Love this drill. I want to praise you for your draw station and style. I have to tell you how blown away I am that you literally answer every single serious comment. Dude, that is Awesome!!! No one else I’ve watched on youtube does!! Thank You!! (just subscribed!!)
One of the things that I love about your instruction is how you credit and even refer people to other teachers methods (e.g. George Gankas) when they have a good tip. I appreciate that you want to show us the best way to learn how to do something . Keep up the great work
I tried this tonight in my backyard using my GC3 and I started seeing consistent draws and improved ball striking. I’m a believer, this station is so easy to setup and will be something I use routinely in my practice going forward! Thank you!!
Amazing. Just tried this drill in my backyard and recorded the best and most pure inside out swings I've ever made. I've been focusing on (obsessing over) shallowing the club on the downswing for weeks/months and was FINALLY able to do it immediately with this drill. Thank you sir!
Eric This is a great drill. I’ve been using it for a while and it really works. I saw GG use this with his students that’s where I picked it up. However, your explanation of the drill and setting up the station is invaluable. And after seeing you video I’ll make some changes to my practice station. After I started using this drill my fairways per round went from 5 or 6 to an average of 11 with more distance and the GIR is getting better too. I enjoy your channel. It keeps a lot of us motivated. Thanks
I learned this drill about 3 years ago from you. I don't know why, but I forget about it, play bad, and then come back to it every year, and then improve afterwards. My initial sessions at the range as well are amazing as you see the ball drawing. Right now, I try to follow the routine and take about 30 to 40 swings a day using this station, to get the muscle memory back. Thanks again for such a game changing drill! A hilarious thing as well is setting this station up at the local driving range. Of about 50 people, I am the only one with this type of set up, with the accompanying stares! However, almost everybody else is slicing. It is an amazing drill!
This is great Eric. After 40 years of good but recently deteriorating golf, your forearm supination message has helped enormously. There is so much instruction that warns against manipulating the club with your hands. "You'll never get the timing right..." That is BS. My problems include early extension, over the top, poor weight shift. All are the body's compensation for an open club face. Now that I'm turning my forearm on the downswing, I'm finally hitting it solid and I can work on fixing everything else. Thanks for all the great videos!
Once again a very meticulous description and demonstration of how to create a draw pattern. I have been chasing this awhile now and cannot wait to set up this station and get to work. Thanks again Eric!
Stumbled upon your videos the other day. You do an awesome job keeping it really simple, easy to understand, and not flashy. This video and The One Thing all Good Ball Strikers Do video has really helped me get back to focusing on that "arm turn" on the follow through and the bowing of the wrist/supination movement. As a lefty but being right hand dominant, the follow through has always been a struggle to get that draw/hook path or "swinging to 3rd base." I was focusing way too much on keeping the elbow tucked and swinging from the inside as a swing thought, where this alternate thought is much more productive to get your body to feel what it should feel like and then still accomplishing you keeping the elbow tucked and going inside out while making sure to turn the club over. Sometimes things just click when explained a certain way, thanks for the great videos!
Really enjoying your video classes, they’re adding so much value. Especially the tilt video. It’s improved my accuracy and striking so much. As an 8 handicapper I stood on my 18 tee the other day 3 under, never before have I been in such a position, even though I double bogied it. I can now actually see that breaking 70 is a distinct possibility but that can only be achieved by making changes I’m learning through your videos. Thank you!!
Tried this at the range yesterday, and I agree! This is one of the best drills to keep you shallowed out and inside on your downswing. Used it throughout my practice session.
Eric, you did not lie! Best drill ever! I used to be a 13 handicap, injured my spine (HITTING GOLF BALLS) a few months back and lost a lot of movements on both of my arms. I am re-learning a new swing. I will certainly only practice with this drill!
I need this right now.. my index is 7.4 and I have lost all feel for my swing. Over the top syndrome massively. Great drill and explanation. Golf if such a hard game
I went to my range yesterday. The pro let me set up in the teaching booth… this really helped me. I’m going to work on this. I was still blocking the driver a bit but it will come. Really good drill. Your a great teacher. Ant (Uk)
Thank you Eric! Over the last several months my normal soft draw had turned into a horrible pull hook. I was badly pulling everything from wedge to driver and with my normal right to left movement added on I was waaay left of target. I took my alignment sticks to the range and set up your drill. I spent the next three days hitting hundreds of balls using the drill exclusively and the results were amazing! This drill is now part of my normal practice. I played with my normal group yesterday after a week of using you drill and only pulled two shots over 18 holes and neither were as drastically left as before. I’ve played golf for 30 years and never used a drill that had this level of impact.
My local teacher said my biggest fault to fix was the path and face. He showed me how to start down more from the inside, but your 4-10 plane station has been a huge help. Coupled with an earlier left arm rotation I am (finally) seeing a few draws. Thanks for explaining the concepts and feels so well.
Love it, Joe! Here is more on this topic that may help ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jI5TRIbVuAY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PjUCfzMmM48.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FEgVR8I4P_A.html
Eric I love this drill, I have been a habitual slicer since taking up golf six years ago after playing cricket since childhood. After two sessions with this station I’m getting a baby draw right to left ball flight...still hitting bad ones but actually have hope that I can start enjoying the left hand side of the golf course, and maybe even the middle of the fairway once I bed this new swing in. This has been a real light bulb moment for me, Many thanks, keep the great videos coming
Arnie Markowitz-Canada. I'm playing tomorrow. Strangely enough I was practising exactly the same thing as your lesson, yesterday. Managed to hit a few draws. I'm sure with more practice I'll be able to get better ball contact and lower scores. Love your videos.
Hi Eric, I've been struggling with a steep handle for some time and have tried various things to remedy it- none of which have produced results. This video was really good. It's nice to hear that it doesn't matter how you shallow, so long as you do. The drill has really helped me get a good feel of what I should doing and your advice about slowing it down to make it very deliberate (despite fattying/poor ball striking while drilling) is very important. Hopefully, my muscle memory will kick in soon and this move will feel a lot more natural, connected, and sequenced. Thanks and kia ora from New Zealand!
Hope it helps my friend! A LOT of times I see someone steep there is something going on EARLIER in the swing that is also contributing to it...but this is an awesome starting point!
@@CogornoGolf Thanks Eric. Yep, I'm also working on steeping up my backswing to make it easier to shallow on the downswing. Another of your videos has helped with this (the one focusing on getting the left elbow pointing more towards the ground and body!). Keep up the great content :-)
Love this idea, I think too many people try to look at golf instruction and “swing perfect” right away. Breaking 90 isn’t about doing perfect it’s about doing the easiest consistent swing and that is the inside and face closing swing
Mr. Cogorno, I'm still using this drill (09-06-21) and my handicap is down to 8. You brought the joy of golf back to me. If you ever need a lawyer in Ohio for any reason, find me -- it'll be pro bono.
I've started using this setup. You know what I don't understand? I'm the only guy at my range that uses "trainers" or feedback, like a mirror. And I'm not a bad golfer. So don't ever think that your job as a teacher is done. The harvest is still full, my friend. Thanks for the help again.
A simple question : doing this drill, should we have a perfect draw (ball leaving right of the target line and coming back) or is it ok that the ball starts slightly right or almost on line and finishes left of target ? Maybe it is player specific and we do not care and play with alignment ? Maybe the swing direction in second case is still not correct ? Or maybe still having the hands not forward enough (due to previous compensation) ?... So much to learn with your videos. Clear and daring to disturb some myths and bad truths...
Great video. I have that same habit of rolling the wrists on the takeaway, the club gets behind me, then I lift it up (get across the line) and in an effort to not come over the top I come down very steep. I tend to hit a lot of pulls and pull-hooks (or slappy weak shots to the right). Hoping this drill, especially the feeling of swinging out to 10:00, will help me get the ball started right of the target and drawing back. Thanks for your work!
Love this drill 👍🏼 can’t wait to see everyone’s face when I’m setting this up on the range tomorrow 😂😂😂 thanks big E happy 4th of July 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I try to use similar concepts with my students and friends... so far it works. Just recommended the video to 4 of my friend to do at home, (virus) , and to do it very slow to see it and feel it and to also create some visual memory of your club path. Thks
Hi Eric. Yes, I knew this drill by G.Gankas (do you know him, you are teaching so many similar things). But you made me try it again and more seriously (maybe you are easier to understand for a non English speaker :D ). First I would say that, to me, the 4 o'clock and 10 o'clock are not exaggerated at all. With the rotation, these are the exact positions and feelings that we should have (?). Then I would say: it works so well.... Finally, one question : from here, how can we build a fade ? To be clearer, this drill move us to a much better DS, release and follow-through and removes over-the-top, face-holding, etc... all these stuff that could be a basis solution to build a fade. I do not want to go back to this while building a fade. I have found that by moving the ball slightly forward, having a slightly weaker grip and feeling exactly the same release but with something more like 3 o'clock -> 9 o'clock leads to a small and more powerful fade. What do you think ?
Hey Pat! 1. Yes I know him-his a great guy! 2. I wouldn't use this station if you want to hit a fade 3. I would have to see your swing to answer these specific questions for YOU....you can check out Cogornogolf.com if you want to join our community so I could see your swing!
EC - Great drill! I’m glad you mentioned Gankas. I think it helps hearing the same concepts from different people. I really like watching videos from you, George Gankas, and Milo Lines. You all are highly compatible in my opinion. Anyone else you would recommend tuning into??
Steve Carruthers I was a huge fan of Malaska for many years, and in fact, was one of the first subscribers when he launched his website. I subscribed until last year. Through Malaska Golf, I learned about Milo Lines, and flew out there to work with him in person. His golfletics channel is very good. I now subscribe to CogornoGolf. An excellent video library and monthly coaching is included.
I like your finish position as well. My local teacher also mentioned this. It seems that position helps me keep my left arm supination as the main feeling instead of my dominant right arm taking over and subsequently making me end in a flatter position.
This is the greatest tip ever. On the best instruction site, period. I was focusing on compression but that is cart in front of horse until I fix this first. Able to easily replicate this in backyard with foam balls. What a difference. Hitting 50-100 per day until I get it right
Love your stuff, Eric. I'm one of the 10% who swings too much inside to out. Often over-hooking the shot, pushing it, or flipping the hands to catch up from a stuck position. Can you recommend how to build a "station" for players like me?
Absolutely...I have a video on that for ya here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BKrxVvyp0_A.html Another one here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q43rhyr6-vE.html Basically just flip the practice station to opposite sides...
Awesome Eric, this is the best drill that 95% of amateurs should be doing. My question would be, when a player no longer has an issue with path and is on plane/shallow, how would they appropriately adjust their swing to stop hitting draws and start hitting butter cuts like those that are so prevalent on tour? Personally, I have no issue with a draw shot, in fact they look great. But when it comes to scoring, approach shots seem to fair better as a fade into the green with more stopping power on fade spin over draw spin.
Thanks Tom! 1. Once they get this you make sure they have good body motions through the ball (rotation and side bend) so help arc the hand path back in to the left (so the path isn't as far in too out) and keeps the face from over closing. 90% of the time thats the next step to go from draw back to straight ish. 2. You can turn the volume DOWN some on the arm rotation as needed once you get the club face closed enough and OVER CLOSED.....FIRST....then turn it down a bit more so its just SQUARE not closed.
I am good player. Played in college at a major school. This is very good advice and great video. I still practice with the stick at 4 myself. I like the one at 10 too just never thought of that. Very good advice. Way the brain works it needs drills to force it to do something. If you are just starting or trouble getting steep you should start your routine with this every day for months. Great vid.
Thank you. Haven't set up and practiced with your drill. But I have taken the 4-10 idea and imagined the bucket and alignment rod on the course the last few rounds. I am seeing some very good results!!! So far with wedges and short irons( 9and 8 ) some better shots. Not 100% but some good results on enough shots to make me write this comment. I will definitely start using the drill station. Even a few shots with the longer irons etc.have shown some positive results but definitely will need to practice. So once again thanks.
This drill is amazing. I’ve used it for just one practice session today at the range and my ball striking on the whole was so much better. I haven’t managed to draw the ball much yet but the shots were much straighter than my usual fade or sometimes slice. I will keep using this at the range. Any advice on how to get the ball to draw rather than simply straight would be appreciated. Either way, I am really happy after my practice session! Hope it wasn’t a coincidence 🤞🏻
Thanks, Tim! Glad to hear that! Sounds like you need to make the face more closed to the path. I would have to see a video of your swing to say for sure what YOU need to do... Maybe some of these may help you figure out WHAT you need to do to get face closed to path. If you don't get it sorted check out www.cogornogolf.com and we will be happy to help! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dnXnjxM2a3k.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3ADaBG1uQIU.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L8xlyijEh-g.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ckpIbnMzStk.html
Thanks Eric. I’ll give these a go. Is “the best golf drill” also suitable for driver? If so, do I need to lower the back stick to the angle of the driver at address/setup?
You have a video with a drill which includes combining an alignment stick with your club when addressing the ball and making sure the alignment stick stays on your left hip / side during the takeaway. Do you remember which video has this drill?
Great great drill ..I alternate it with the "shallow your down swing" one. Yet, Eric, I wonder to what length of club can I go with these drills without overdoing?
Sitting here wondering if I could pull that off at my local driving range and then the camera angle changes and my jaw dropped....it is my local driving range haha. Great stuff I'll be at muni trying it out
(Jake Pecheco)That is too funny. I found just by looking at this drill I could do what Eric was demonstrating...Now I need to work on my putting. I thought about that wrist motion at the end, keeping my elbows together and a swing path point ending just to the right of my ball. The hard part was trusting it...I usually tee up to the right side and aim left in case I hit a fade. Now I have to tee from the left...and trust a draw. That is the hardest part, to quiet the doubts. lol
Awesome video, after doing this drill for only a day It is now very rare for me to slice a ball. What would the next step be after consistently hitting draws and hooks? Also I notice that even on my best draw shots my distance has decreased and also my ball contact has become less consistent, any videos of yours that you could direct me to would be appreciated, thank you, your videos are extremely helpful
Hey Benjamin! "Awesome video, after doing this drill for only a day It is now very rare for me to slice a ball. What would the next step be after consistently hitting draws and hooks? " -I would continue to do this for 3-6 months. 1 day is not enough to change the pattern where you own it on the course. So that is the advice you need. I would need to see your swing to give you any specifics on tweaks or adjustments for you....you can sign up at www.cogornogolf.com for that!
I will be using this for the next couple weeks… hopefully I can get my path from 2-4deg out to in to more like 2-4 from the inside. Turn my pull draw into a push draw would be nice
Thanks, Sambhu! It depends on how far outside of the ball/target line you put it. Stick very close to same angle as iron if its very close to line If farther outside like I have here it will need to be lower Whats important is the checkpoints I show where it it relative to shaft when posing
Eric, Love the drill. My question is should I be using this when on the course for all shots such as driver, fairway woods, long irons, short irons? Or just on my irons? My issue really comes when I hit the driver. I can play a pretty consistent draw with irons, but the driver has a tendency to have that over the top issue. Thanks again man, great drill!
Hey Mike! In general....this applies for all clubs. Of course I don't have any idea if YOU in particular should do it our not...I would have to see a video of your swing to say for sure. If you don't get it sorted check out cogornogolf.com so I can see and we can help
I'll go the range with this today instead of playing as there are thunderstorms about. It looks like just what I need, but then so did the video I watched yesterday and the one the day before that . . . . I've been coming OTT for 35 years, nothing seems to work.
Hey Kerry! Sounds like at the core the solution needs to be you finding a good coach to work with. To identify the root cause of the issue and exactly how to fix that and only that. If you dont get it sorted you should join www.cogornogolf.com so I can be your coach....or find someone good to work with!
Nice Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (should be on google have a look)? It is a good one off product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my best friend Jordan got astronomical results with it.
Hey there! I'd keep the feet square to start...but feel free to drop the trail foot back 2-3" to help get more backswing body rotation and depth of the arms, hands, and club (to make it easier to swing more from the inside for a draw) if needed👍
Ummm...what? Yesterday i had a class and my golf coach taught my this specific drill...and today this video pops up in my video recommendations. Like, how? Is RU-vid observing my daily life? Haha, really great drill by the way.
Great classic drill and station Eric. I found that if I had students just try to push it first things would go faster. The intention to square/close the face often would happen to soon and take the club out and over if they were trying to do both. So we'd ingrain path first and then add face. Do you ever approach it this way?
Would love to see you and GG do some live lessons, and fix some people together. You both have similar swing theory, but personality wise you two would be great.
Fantastic drill and now crushing it, but when I play I need to aim way to the right as the draw is now a 25 yard hook for a 9 iron, help!!! How do I “soften” the hook to draw? Thanks and keep up the great work
Hey James! Would be able to help you best if I could see your swing...please send swing videos to us at CogornoGolf.com so we can fix with no guesswork!👊
Second day today, was weird to have no body movement and rolling over to 45 down. After about an hour it started to feel better. The only drill I’m doing until I hit 80 😀 but may do the right wrist bend in conjunction. Good stuff.
Shot a 88 so on my way. This gets my hands working, I already had a good turn and rotation just getting stuck with open face. I’m doing 100 shots per day into my net with this drill. I’m getting a lot more of those shots that when you hit them you almost don’t feel the ball. I actually hit my driver into a few draws and one hook, which I originally got mad but then thought back to the drill...just be happy it didn’t fly right. My early extension will be next thing to tackle but dreading that. Can’t get a good drill yet.
able to do this drill at the range. took about 25 minutes to try to get baskets and rods set up properly, but wow, seeing my draws and hooks come back was incredible! one question, I would put my left arm out with the club, and have it supinated, and then add my right hand, and keep my grip the same for my swing. the grip felt stronger then ever, but I felt it helped me draw the shots. I noticed you completely reset your hands, after doing the lead hand supination, and then shot the ball. do you think it would be too strong a grip to keep doing it the way I did it to hit shots in a round of golf? Thanks
Eric! Fantastic drill and station! Thanks a (to use one of your words...) "frick'n" ton! After all kinds of instruction and nerding out on all kinds golf videos I hit my first set of draws with the driver! And I mean after years and years of trying to fix it. Thanks again brother! And I WILL be using this until I break 80, LOL! You'll only hit the sticks once or twice on the range because of the attention you get, so you'll learn not to very very quickly not to.
Hi Eric, thank you, great video! I did a similar drill to this and ended up hitting some really solid shots but eventually I started hooking everything and I couldn't figure out why. Am I rotating my hands too much through follow through? What would the most likely cause be? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you! Hard to say for sure without seeing your swing but I would start with the following video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BKrxVvyp0_A.html Let us know if this one helps or if you have any questions!
Great drill! So what is the feel on the takeaway? Do you try to follow the 4 o clock path? For me it feels like taking the club too far inside which I have always been told not to do.
Hey! You're right-you should not follow the 4 o'clock. 3 o'clock would be more appropriate. Here is some more specific info on takeaway: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uoz5jvrsTMA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1B-3OuGTcsM.html
DAMN. i'm one of those 10 percent you talked about. I can shoot in the 70's. my path numbers on trackman are normally a fairly solid 2-4 in to out. I'm a little shallow in angle of attack. but my club face can vary wildly from 1-2 degrees closed to my path to 6-10 degrees at worst. i need some drills to help calm that down please. think of the other 10 percent golfers out there eric haha!
Haha yessir...with lots of different golf swings no drill will be 100%. I could fix that for ya if I could see it....but would have to see what you're doing that's leading to those face issues. Check out Cogornogolf.com if ya don't fix it ill help ya
Done deal...I have faith in ya! Make sure you putt first, chip second ,hit balls third every time you practice ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sBO1I3IGj5M.html
I've never been able to draw the ball, no matter what I try. Once in a while it happens as a fluke. lol I've taken lessons from different Coaches, but am still fading or slicing the ball. I'm 67, 10 HDCP, and I'm going to start seriously incorporating this into my range work. I'll let you know how it goes.
You have to get the face closed. Step one. Period. The question is how? I would have to see your swing to say why or how. Grip, wrist conditions, arm rotation where to start
Hi Eric, came across your video & I've got to admit I have not hit the ball so crisply, as you suggest I'm taking pin head steps to gain confidence & I'm sure this is the way forward, occasionally I do hit a block to the right, do you think the reason for this is lack of arm rotation ?
Hey Daemon! Could be that.... Could be path too far right (straight push) Could be open club face (that would be CURVING right) If path is too far right you are over doing this station If face check grip, wrist angles, arm rotation
This is where I struggle. Too steep in the downswing, tend to fade. Any recommendations for "bigger" golfers? I lift weights and feel like I cant seem to get the club to shallow comfortably. My right elbow doesnt "tuck" well no matter how much stretching I do. And I've increased flexibility overall but this may just be a structural restriction for me. It just doesnt externally rotate. Any luck getting guys like me to come inside with their path even with a right arm that wants rotate internally?
May be best to just play the fade my friend! I would watch slow motion swings of bigger guys who can play well and model them....VERY GENERALLY speaking I think you will find most of them will tend to fade Getting your left arm across your chest will be more difficult so lead arm more in front makes swing direction more to the left more likely. Match the face, play fades and get her in the hole!
This a great station. Definitely makes sense. I'm limited in my range sessions but I have a backyard....can I still use this at least to get the feelings down and then use at the range? Thoughts?
Great drill. I was using an old shaft in the basket behind me instead of an alignment rod....came over the top & hit my 5 iron directly on the top of other shaft....snapped my 5 iron in half!! I will never go over the top again!!!
Hey! Yup...as mentioned here thesis designed to help someone FIRST learn to close the clubface to curve it left (exaggerate) to help get the path more from inside. Can take some of the forearm rotation out LATER. Key to get the face closed FIRST to get the path more from inside SECOND.
I feel conflicted! So when try to teach a new golfer the proper path we should be focusing on hand and arms kinda before rotation?? If your setup and grip are on point when you rotate shouldnt setup posture and grip take care of all this automatically? Either this is awsome and gives a new golfer something concrete to feel. You are awsome at this educational video thing, keep it up!
1. Yes...face and path first before rotation imo. 2. No, In my experience that doesn't take care of it automatically. Obviously as you know, I will only teach the person in front of me what they need. If they already have the face and path good then I would move forward with pivot and rotation. All depends on what the person needs.... Appreciate the kind words!
I’ve set it up and tried it out. Took some reps but starting to make the right type of contact with a 9 iron. Would you suggest that if I keep doing this routinely (I use foam balls in my yard so I could literally do this for an hour a day no problem) that I will no doubt improve? I’m looking for a drill that I can just do in a routine that will improve my swing.
Yes. I would do 30-50 reps per day for 90 days. You should see a nice change by then. Of course if you have any massive issues (open club face) or setup issues that may hold you back (you brain won't let you swing through sticks) But in general yes If this doesnt help join us at www.cogornogolf.com so we can see your swings and help build you a plan
Great video but now what would you suggest for the person that does this too well and fights the blocks? I take it away inside because I feel more connected. To someone watching it looks like I then come over the top. Even with that reroute I still hit a draw. The only way I know how to stop blocking is to rotate the hips hard. What is your suggestion for those that hit blocks? Thanks
Hey Luke! Thanks! I would essentially flip the station to the other sides...I talked about it more in these 2 videos ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BKrxVvyp0_A.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q43rhyr6-vE.html
cf. Kostis in the early '80s. There's a great divide -- as Eric says here -- between the people whose misses are shallow, penetrating, and too much draw, and those whose misses are steep, climbing, and too much pull or cut (comes from the same path). One tends to contact the ball on or close to the sweet spot, the other tends to contact it more and more toward the toe and weak. If you want to know why tour players work on many of the things they do, it's to bring them back from tendencies, whether natural or trained (or both), that are completely opposite from what nearly 100% of middle-to-high-handicap amateurs have. If those amateurs work on the same things that most pros are working on -- things that are designed to moderate the inside-path-full-release-and-aggressive-draw-path -- it's just pure disaster. Trying to "hold off the club" when you've never learned to release the club in the first place is a primary example. Same for "coming too much from the inside." Almost no amateurs do.
Eric, I love the drill and love your videos. I'm wondering how this translates to the course. Should I be trying to take the same swing path to the course, or is this just a drill? Also, when practicing, how much right to left in the ball path should we be striving for?
Hey Aaron... 1. Should you take it to the course or just drill? -If your ball flight with these feels is perfect then yes-use the same exact feels. -If your ball flight with these feels is TOO MUCH hook-the no, not exact feels on course...use less. -If your ball flight with these feels is NOT ENOUGH then you need to do more in drill and more again on course 2. How much right to left? -However much you want -If you have struggled with hitting a draw and always hit a fade/slice I would do MORE in the beginning and lessen it over time -Great ball strikers only curve it A LITTLE (1-3 yards) but most went 5-10 to learn it.
