@@kxc7580 I mean they made it quite clear that adora and catra had some sort of tension and there were so many scenes like the dance one and the ‘did you just jump through fire for me?’and the ‘adora means something to you’ and ‘it’s not like I like you’ and catra always just focused on adora when they were enemies and so on soo I wouldn’t really say it came out of nowhere.

Okay HOW was Adora toxic?

@@misfits9294 No way near the same extent as Catra, but to a certain degree she kind of was toxic, appart from her obsession with pleasing and sacrificing herself for everyone, she pretty much ignored any form of abuse and hate Catra received from Shadow Weaver and even the other soldiers from the Frightzone, even telling her that SW wouldn't hurt her that much if she behaved. Later, the minute she discovered other people outside were suffering she decided to leave the horde Of course all of this comes from Shadow Weaver's abuse towards both of them, and over time Adora more or less gets better (although her self worth is still really low), while Catra takes a turn for the worse, reaching rock bottom at the end of season 4. In conclusion, between the two of them Catra was the most toxic by a long shot, and we shouldn't forget that, but Adora, especially at the beginning, had some problems that caused her to be a bit toxic.

@@dantemaquiavelli9039 Oh yeah that makes sense. Though to be fair I can't exactly blame her for not sticking up to Shadow Weaver for Catra because she also was like a child, but her being oblivious to Catra's pain is a big reason why they got a strain in their relationship.

@@misfits9294well Adora was also abused by Shadow weaver. It may not be like the Scapegoat abuse (just like Catra's) but it's more of the Golden Child abuse with a touch of being blamed for what's happening to others, especially Catra because Shadow weaver made Adora feel like she was responsible for what ever Catra will do

@@kaje_zu Oh absolutely! I mean, obviously the physical abuse with the magic she got from the Black Garnet must've been so traumatic to Catra, but Adora also witnessed it. And that in of itself is also traumatic, especially when Shadow Weaver gaslighted and manipulated Adora into thinking she was responsible for Catra's actions. It could also very well of been a clear threat to Adora's own safety--if she does not keep Catra in check, or live up to Shadow Weaver's expectations, to be "perfect", she could get the same abuse as Catra. Kinda puts a whole new level to her need to be the perfect hero for the rebellion, besides getting her loved ones killed, she might be harboring those same emotions of "if I don't do exactly as Shadow Weaver says, I'm next".
