I am an Apple user, but i am so considering buying the Tab S8+ anyway. Better screen quality, better speakers, way better camera and microphone and correct placement for video calls. Plus the pen is included and memory is expandable. As the m1 power is not even utilised I don’t se any advantages of the iPad except ecosystem:(
I’m glad you’re talking about the Tab S8+! I feel like as the middle child it isn’t getting the attention it deserves like the Ultra is. I got my S8+ two days before release and it’s great! Definitely a nice upgrade over the Tab S7, especially when it comes to media consumption.
Even though you can split screen with three apps on the Tab S8, you can actually open as many pop-up windows as you want to fill up the screens. So if you wanted to, you can have six different apps opened and displayed at the same time. and this works with pretty much all apps.
@@TechGearTalk yes they overlap but you minimize the popups and you can quickly cycle between the popups you want . escpeically useful when opening multiple pop up notes and cycling between the notes
Not really sure why anyone would want a cluttered desk space like that. Very unproductive. I find max two in split-screen is optimum as once you split into three or four you are continuously scrolling to see stuff which makes it a pain.
@@andyH_England its very useful for a student to check info from multiple notes and minimise them and like also open a calculator minimized . The pop ups when minimized take a screen space of an icon . So its very useful for me to use and then minimize .
@@RajShekhar-jy2zi I can do that on an iPad and it is much nicer to look at. Use slide over to slide in the calculator when you need it (and many other apps you use infrequently). Use cmd tab to switch fast between apps. I suppose it is just two ways of doing the same thing and down to what you prefer?
I literally have both of these right now. Managed to win the iPad off eBay for surprisingly cheap and then preorder the Tab S8+. Right now I'm leaning towards the Galaxy Tab for its multitasking capabilities, but I am reluctant to get rid of the iPad as it is definitely futureproofed with that processor. Hello, i am thinking about getting an iPad Air with an iPhone SE/11 or if I should buy a Galaxy Tab S8+ 5g. I can't decide. Currently I own a Galaxy a21s as my Phone, a 2 year old Samsung watch and a Lenovo M10 fhd plus tablet. I get my work done on it, but i want an experience with more performance. If I would go with the Galaxy Tab S8+ i would keep my watch and buy some earbuds and try to replace my current Phone and tablet with it. Besides that I really like the idea of samsung dex. On the other hand i like how well connected the apple ecosystem is and the quality and stability of Apps. You own both, so if you could choose only one of them. What would you choose?
@@kevins8249 such a tough question man. I have an iPhone so it would be smart of me to keep the iPad, but I’m really leaning towards the Galaxy Tab S8+. The multitasking capabilities really outshine the iPad. However, you did say you want a tablet with more performance; the Apple chip in the iPad Air is definitely no slouch. The experience will be much more smooth for certain and it will be able to power through harder tasks (video/photo editing if you do that) with no issue. The plus for the Tab S8+ is the OLED and 120 Hz screen if you plan on using it for media a lot. One last thing I can add is that the iPad Air would be more portable as it is only 10 inches compared to 12! I found that both iPad Pro and Tab S8+ are light devices, but the iPad is lighter. There are so many other factors that I can’t think of right now but that’s what I can tell you at the moment! Hope it helped.
@@saulgoodman2018 very good point. For some reason I always think of processing power being the end all be all of future proofing but it isn’t. I do know that the iPad will stay updated for years longer than the Tab S8+, but I also know that you can drop a custom rom on top of the Galaxy Tab down the road which will keep it fresh.
@@WhatGoinOnDotCom Apple may support their devices longer. But will an iPad be as fast as it is now in 5 years? My iPad mini 4 have been so slow since the mini 6 came out. Battery life has gotten so bad. Like 1% a minute. Just for checking email. It's unusable now. My Galaxy S10+ is still fast. The apps that I use, all open in les than 1 second. Websites load fast. Not as fast as my desktop. But still pretty fast. So anything with at least an 855 CPU would be good enough for me.
I like the fact that you can set the refresh rate in the tab S8+. I have adaptive refresh rate for my Fold 3 and it's a bit annoying. With Bixby Routines you can set the refresh rate to be what you want based on the application you're viewing, time of day, battery life, etc. I'd rather have a set refresh rate and tweek it using this.
One very important difference between the pens is that the S-Pen actually doesn't need to be charged to be used. It can be dead and the s pen will still be able to draw.
Most reviews are about the Ultra.. I preordered the S8+ and watching the very few reviews there are and it happens that you and Brad uploaded one almost the same time! I love watching both your reviews. Can't wait for mine to arrive 😍
If you max out the iPad pro 11 to 1TB, and include the pen and keyboard, the iPad pro would cost double the price as the tab s8+ with the bonus keyboard when first batch of customers preorder the product. I choose the tab 8 ultra eventually.
As a technical consultant which was bond to the apple eco system for years, I was looking out for a new tablet the last couple of weeks. I was looking for a tablet I would primarily use for work, like to write down notes digitaly in meetings, have a nice digital canvas when meeting online with collegues or costumers and want to draw thoughts on a shared whiteboard etc… I also wanted a device with nice video call capabilitys and at least something compact enought to work on or watch movies or read news when I‘m on travel. After long time looking in the Cuppertino shelf I stumbled over Samsung… … what shall I say - your video made it easy for me to give it a try and feel good with it. Hey there, it was a decision with no regret. It works perfect hand in hand with the windows laptop of my employer (e.g. as a wireless second screen), dex-mode is such a great thing to work with the device as a laptop replacement and I like the writing expirience when taking notes or drawing sketches. Only thing I miss is the native access to the iCloud but I worked around that by putting the most needed files to the onedrive or by accessing icloud via webbrowser. All in all a good decision and I‘m very happy. Also that movies look nicer than on the ipad when it comes to the format. The only two things I have to admit are, that the ipad pro my wife uses, is brighter which is a thing when working outside in the sun and the pencil is thicker so when writing for a longer period it feels a bit more comfy. But for the last points there are affordable stylus available from lamy etc which I will try shortly
My Tab s7 already does a lot for me, and I only go to my laptop if my tablet is charging. The external monitor setup is the best feature, because all my messaging and meeting is on the tablet while most of productivity apps are on my external monitor.

As an iPad Pro 11 owner when buying it last year I wanted to get the S7 it just works better with windows, the iPad is great but Samsung software is really good especially with dex. I got the iPad due to M1 as I edit a lot of Lightroom pictures and the M1 truly shines
@@alvaradorea5461 Not at all I use lightroom to the point where the m1 can be slow at times so i dont expect the tab s7 or tab s8 to be able to cut it. My only regret is in abysmal battery life when taking notes at 120hz using onenote its horrible
I had an ipad pro and traded it for the S8. I absolutely love the s8. Paid less than $600 and it came with the spen which is awesome. I use it often in dex mode as a legit laptop and also as a desktop when plugged into my monitor. One of the coolest devices I've owned. I'm hoping Apple gets innovative again. More speed and a better camera than last year's model needs to change.
@@Dwivil i mean to me, s8 plus seems more worth, cus its amoled screen, more srorage, bigger screen.. But if portability is concern, then s8.. but s8 plus is like 2 in 1, like a laptop and tablet too
S8+ is actually very in-between iPad Pro 11 and 12.9. Cost wise, with the S Pen - much closer to the 11. The iPad 12.9 is also wider than the S8+, and all around substantially larger. I find it just too large as a tablet, it tends to gravitate towards a desk and pretty much stays there! Of course the Ultra - even more so. So yeah this is a very apt comparison to me.

Would it not be a fairer comparison to compare the 12.4 inch S8+ to the 12.9 inch iPad Pro, not 11 inch iPad Pro? S8+ lower price with included S Pen would be an eye opener!

Thank you for the video. Nice comparison. Currently I am using 11 inch M1 iPad pro (128 GB) since last 6 months. It’s super amazing !! Samsung S8+ is also wonderful. My friend bought this last year. The colour of display is the main attraction of Samsung. Be it smartphone or tablet or laptop. Samsung manufactures the best displays ever.
The samsung has Bixby features which users can configure to run apps in 60hz or 120hz to minimize battery consumption when using apps that do not require 120hz.
I think the fact hat the galaxy tab s8 comes with an s pen is gives it much edge. Even if we still pay for it. Shipping an apple pencil feels like a rip off to me

Your review on the adaptive refresh rate display not being on the S8 Ultra is wrong, or at least, based on other reviews on it. One way to test is to enable developer options > debugging> enable show refresh rate. OR go to developer options > games > GPUWatch and you can see the performance of the GPU/CPU and FPS all at the same time. That will tell you if it's adaptive or not. I am not a big fan of Apple's iPad in terms of locking the potential power of the M1, I think it's best served on their MacBooks. Such a waste with such a powerful chip on that tablet. However, I think CentreStage is better than Samsung's autoframing. Your description of the styluses is pretty much on point -- For me, I prefer the rubber tip but I do know some people preferring the Apple one. For me, I hate the feeling of the Apple Pencil and you must get those paper matte covers for it to simulate a paper feel but it also reduces the look and feel of the screen which to me, sucks because why should you cover up such a beautiful display? I wish apple iPads allowed emulators a lot easier than the way it is done now. With all the extra steps, it really is a deterrent for using it as an emulator beast. I've also was able to install a modded Linux distro on android's side and I wonder how that would look like on the iPad. I think it's been done? but i haven't really look into it too deeply. However, as far as a full desktop experience, both fall short for me but it's like they're both near the station but still some time to reach the end goal. With Android 13 coming, with KVM as native -- I wonder how possible would it be to run VMs on the phone. It would be so cool because with something like Samsung dex, I can imagine running a Linux distro or even Windows ARM version and using it for the more demanding jobs . I am sure the M1 is able to handle that even more so than a snapdragon but as of this point, we won't know unless Apple allows shit like this on their iPadOS . Would be cool though but impossible with a company such as the walled garden masters
I love your comparison of the pencil (like writing on single piece of paper on a desk) vs spen (like writing on a stack of paper) - that really made me understand the difference between the writing experience!
Apple pencil is way better and comfortable compare to to tiny spen (too small and magnetic for notes) and i have both. use gel film from bestbuy for screen

Seemed like the tab s8+ destroyed the iPad pro 11", BUT it is more expensive. I prefer the tab s8+ because I don't play hardcore games at all, only scrolling through RU-vid, Netflix etc. Making the better speakers and video performance a better one for me, it depends on the user. :)

Fr? I use the s10 which was the first iteration of under screen fingerprint and it works very very well. It's only when you use a very thick screen guard you have issues

if anyone is worried about the 120 hz eating up the battery, you can toggle on 'power saving' in your toolbar and it will dim the screen a little bit, shave off 30% processing power, and change to 60 hz refresh, all until you toggle it off again.
you can also tweak the power saving mode to do various things, I have it set so it only throttles the processor in my phone and I just leave it on all the time.
i like your content as you touch on all the pro and con of each devices for different individuals 👍 its frustrating to see so many youtubers who are biases towards apple without mentioning on functionality.

The ultra is perfect for content creator, streaming, multitasking and in special for multimedia, watching netflix, RU-vid is brilliant but for taking notes in class could be a bit bigger but because of the fact that the tablet is very light and thin is very portable as well, easy to carry around. If you want to invest in one of the s8, i ll go for the ultra but the problem is that if you didn t pre ordered it and you want a keyboard with it and if you don t have a charger lying around from another Samsung product this tablet it would be very expensive. Was very good the deal with 128 gb only 999 euros plus free keyboard cover which separately is 350 euros and charger another 40 50 euros, the pen is included
The ultra version for ur school is a bit bigger but personally if i had to pay and choose one from this tab 8 line, definetly I would go for the ultra. Why? Because as I said is thin and lightweight so is portable as well plus if i had to pay money I rather go for the bigger size, the experience by using a console and playing games or Watching netflix, RU-vid etc you won t get on the other versions.

The rear facing camara isn't unimportant! Students use it to take a photo of the whiteboard! The longer it takes to take a shot the more you look like an idiot or even worse the teacher ruins the shot by waking infront of the board again...
Wonderful review. I was lucky enough to hold out as I was not sure if I was going with the large iPad or the S8 Ultra. By being confused, all of the sudden Best Buy and Amazon went from 899 to 599 on the S8+ (2022 Model). I decided $600 was too good to pass (Just days before Christmas and arrived Dec 31). That was like a week and now they are back to $820 everywhere, so for an extra toy, confused on what I wanted I saved greatly and am still learning all your great reviews showed. So, in this case, what the iPad would have cost me vs this short sale, the Samsung works for me, especially since I have a Pixel (Android) phone. Apple does have a better overall ecosystem, but I see Android going this route fine. I could have used the cable and I chose Wireless and my Pixel 2XL, upgrading to the 7 Pro transferred everything pretty quick and the S8+ had all of my phone transferred to my pad. I just could not justify the S8 Ultra at $1100 bucks with this sale I received, as I bought a 512GB U3/V30 card for $64 and now have 640GB of storage for a total of $664 and added an off brand China tablet case BT Keyboard combo 7 color choices backlit keyboard with track pad for $59. Probably, as it arrives 4 Jan, will be not super happy and will go with the Logitech best rated BT Keyboard and a wireless mouse as well.
I am really confused between the two devices. I have a Samsung phone, so I decided to buy a Samsung Tab, but I was told that as a medical student, the iPad is better because there are more applications. What do you think?
@@matthewchua4190 I actually chose the Apple iPad. When I bought it, I did not feel the difference in the system. The diversity of applications in the iPad and their support for it made me choose it.
I want to buy the ipad, but it's annoying that apple always does this, the 11 inch ipad doesnt have the mini LED display that I want. So either i would have to wait for the next gen ipad in the hope that apple would give some more love to the 11 inch ipad aswell or I would have to look for other OLED options, which there aren't many of unfortunately. I really don't want to buy the 12 inch ipad, that's too big.
Great review! The S8+ sounds a lot more value for money. But Apple’s longer support and excellent quality means you can use the device for a much longer time. Better for sustainability as less computer waste, less frequency to replace.
Android apps tend to support much older devices, for example a ton of apps can be supported on far older versions of android. So even if you aren't getting updates, you can still continue using everything that you had been using far into the future. But I've heard so not entirely confirmed that with apple, once your update support gets dropped and you fall a version or two behind, most apps stop supporting you.
@@honaldjason not talking number of updates, talking once update support is dropped what you can do. Some apps work as far back as android 4, meanwhile some apple apps drop you the moment you're a version behind.

With nearly 2.5 times the cpu power and 3 times the gpu power.. not to mention the much faster nvme storage comapred to 5 times slower ufs 3.2.. you are gonan definitely see a difference 2-3 years down the years

Tab s8 is definitely good but people have to realize Samsung doesn’t like to support their devices for very long, Apple supports it’s iPads for years. Also OLED displays will experience burn in eventually. Also the M1 in the iPad really future proofs it. Long term the iPad is gonna be good/supported for a lot longer then the Samsung, if your looking for a tablet that you plan to hang on to for a while get the iPad.

i was considering to buy a Laptop or a tablet. I already have a powerfull PC and monitors that can run most things. But I can tell you 1 thing, the tablet is replacing laptop in 2022. Unless you don't have a PC or as a college student, you want to go to a coffee shop to play game or coding. If not, tablet is your trading machine and entertainment device.

Hi, I used to be Samsung fan boy, few years back.. Used to own Samsung phones and tabs, but they would not receive updates after 3 years of usage, and the device used to lag and malfunction making them to throw away. Will the Samsung ultra survive at least 5 years as ipads.
They gave me 650 instant credit for trading my note 10 plus to get the tab s7 and samsung just gave me 450 instant credit towards the tab s8 plus. Double stacking there other promotions on top of trade in making getting the new one a lot easier
So true! I only go to Maxtech if I want to see Apple vs Apple model comparisons like if a new gen is worth upgrading too. Anything Android on channel feels like its getting bashed and hated lol
I think Samsung tab s8 is a better choice for me considering the sim slot, expandable storage and display but... I never tried apple ipad before and I really really want to try that custom apps for ipad os! (me saying all these after breaking my samsung phone that didn't even last a year because I drowned it in saltwater... I'm really sorry (was my favourite phone) but I will feel real bad if I get another samsung device that wouldn't help recover my files in the phone because I forgot to sync it on my accounts. And I wrote all my passwords in ss notes and I don't remember any of them anymoreeeeeeee). This accident results me to plan to use dumbphone instead.
Try AutoDesk Sketchbook, Sketches, 3D rendering Skedio and the Noteshelf app for illustration. PicSayPro for cartoong, Moldive and PiZap for layouts. Animation Pixelflow, Vllo and Quik. For video editing PowerDirector, video converter and video collage. I can go on and on for android apps you choose them by what you want to do. I have 3700 on my 512GB microsd card on my Tab S8+.

in no way to be rude, but why is is that people are comparing the Tab S8 Ultra to the 12" iPad Pro when really the Tab S8+ compares more to the 12" iPad Pro and then the 11" Tab S8 to the 11" iPad Pro?
