So if this is aimed at rookies (for lack of a better term), we all need to teach more of "just use your ears", that oughtta be one of the first things taught, and I didn't realize that until about 5 years into my engineering endeavors. Wish I had been told that earlier on but those Sneap forum threads were tainted by so many of those "here's my mix, now rate it and follow us on facebook" people lol

Hey Vad! That is sort of the point. Any commercial ir these days can be usable under the right circumstances, but the thought process that goes into picking them is the biggest drawback. This is my own personal opinion, but let’s say I made the video you’re referring to. The same I.r. I use might not give you the results you want, especially for someone that’s a beginner. Instead, I try to help beginner-intermediate level people take the thought process out. A poorly named ir IS a bad i.r. because it distracts the end user from the ultimate goal. I think you will enjoy the video in which I show how to use real cabs with amp sims because it will address a lot of what you want -Miami
