Well, with the Hero 4 you wouldn't need the audio adapter, yiou could just use a regular adapter plate and hook up the mic with one of the cable claps to the plate itself. It would be a much simpler setup with an h4.

Hello, Jim! What project do you mean? A gopro on a gimbal? You would need a really big gimbal to use a video mic pro on a gopro ON a gimbal, same goes for the video micro. With both these mics the deadcat is so big that the mic has to be placed behind the gopro or far relatively far away from it. For the smooth 3 I don't think there is a solution bigger than the dji fleximic, or maybe a saramonic sr xm1.....did I understand you correctly?

The sound quality through the microphone you are suggesting is good or just is weight-to-weight compromise; Would it be good to put these 2 microphones only when they are on a solid basis rather than on a gimbal correct; I have a nikkon d5300 so I can put the micro and there. It is a matter of having a shock mount or not. Without the shock mount the gimbal motor noise becomes a problem. The weight part also comes into play of course, because it is just a smartphone gimbal. Video mic pro and micro will work wherever you put them, but as I mentioned, it is going to be a big gimbal, because they are relatively big microphones. Both of them will work on your d5300, although the PRO will get you better audio ,because of the pregain and low cut filter. Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!

Hey, Gary! If you install the gopro the regular way the audio adapter jack doesn't sit right, because the gopro is positioned a tiny little bit further back. This way there is always additional pressure on the connectors of both the cable and the gopro, whereas positioning it on the back takes care of that problem. Greetings!

Technically yes, but I don't know for how long the motors will be able to handle the overload and I doubt the gimbal will be able to keep the horizon level. The smooth 3 is stronger and therefore better suited for this setup.

The weight limit of the smooth 4 is too lowe I believe. The limit of the smooth 3 was 260g. The limit of the smooth 4 is only 210-ish I believe. I guess it would still work, but the gimbal will probably have a hard time:)

So im looking at my shopping cart on amazon. to build the mark II.5 and the mark III is roughly 345 give or take because I have a gimble and a phone mount. Maybe I will do a video showing the final build in like a month or 2. Awesoem builds man keep it up.

I love the setup that you have here. I love the fact that you picked a gimbal that was practical for charging the GoPro and not something that's fancy and overpriced. I have two questions for you: How does FM-15 compare to ETM-001 and ETM-008? I was thinking of making a similar setup for travelling. Are there other gimbals that has similar charging mechanism (port on the moving part)?

Thanks for the nice comment, Taqveer Doha! Much appreciated! I have never done a direct comparison between these mics, but the main difference is that the fleximic and the ETM 001 are omnidirectional, whereas the ETM 008 is uni directional. It will do a better job of focusing in on your voice than the other two. I have a comparison between the ETMs in this video if you*re interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kuo5FrBckk0.html Back then I used a Hero 4 though..... The Feyu Tech G5 and G6 have this option, but they are gopro gimbals which will not allow for the application of the audio adapter and additional gear in general, at least not on the moving part of the gimbal. When I looked I only found the Smooth 3 that had everything I wanted, but maybe there are more gimbals out there that have this option that I just don't know of, because I stopped searching after I found my perfect one:)

Mh...technically that would work with a really flimsy hdmi fpv cable, but I think the gimbal motors are not powerful enough to power through the resistance of any cable.....just an elaborate guess...what are you thinking exactly?

You would need a phone that will support mhl and then an mhl to usb adapter cable, then an hdmi to usb dongle. So it*s the gopro - the hdmi to usb dongle - the usb to micro usb or usb c mhl adapter cable - then the phone. Also you need an app on the phone to accept the usb signal from the dongle. It is not easy or cheap unfortunately.... It is easier to get a 50 buck hdmi field monitor if you ask me....it is not going to have the nices of panes, but it will do the job you*re looking for.

It is small at 4.5 inches diameter, has a sony battery plate, a power out to power the camera, a HD 1280x800 IPS panel, can take a 4k signal and offers a peaking function. At roughly 140 bucks it's a great pick for any camera with an hdmi output. The dongles that work are not that expensive, but well...they are just dongles:) For example: www.amazon.com/Capture-Broadcast-Streaming-Grabber-Converter/dp/B0779ZJZX3/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1541199821&sr=8-4&keywords=hdmi+usb+dongle There's also some for 150 or even 300....which is bs....but they exist:) Maybe it is worth it for you to go the smartphone way, but if you also have a camera, or a thinking about getting one on he future. Such a field monitor is a good investment if you want to shoot some nice video.

Hey, I tried it with the very first osmo mobile 1, but it could't keep the horizon. If the mobile 2 has a higher weight limit it might work. The 260g weight limit of the zhiyun smooth 3 is perfect for this setup...

As always great video. I did have one question have you had any trouble with 3M dual lock attaching to the GoPro microphone adaptor? I purchased a whole roll of dual lock low profile and for the life or me can't get it to remain stuck to the GoPro adapter. I have even wiped the adapter with 99% rubbing alcohol and no matter what it won't last

Hey there again, Carl! Thanks for the nice comment! Interesting camera.......first time I heard of it tbh.....I would have to get my hands on one. You would have to use a mirrorless camera gimbal I think, because it is over 400g without lens and mic. It seems to be a different kind of camera though, not an action cam per se. For the money I would probably go with a G7 right away and pay the difference. But the form factor is pretty cool and the quality definitely beats the gopro. Not waterproof, not shockproof, it really is a camera, not an action cam. If you treat it as a video camera, it probably is fun to use and you will get pretty decent footage. Still, if you don*T need the small form factor I would go with a regular mirrorless m43 camera. Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!

I have recently purchased a Hero7Black. (My first gopro) Am abount to buy the audio adapter for using external mic. Since i vlog on mototrbike, i find the adapter brick pretty huge as already notice by all. Was wondering if its possible to use an extension cable with usb c type male female ports on either ends so that i can position the adapter a bit further away from the camera, like maybe at the back of the helmet. Yes, that is possible. But it needs to be a data cable, so the proprietary code gets transmitted so the gopro can use the cable and the connected adapter. I have been trying to design a system that can do this while powering an external monitor that was connected via cable so lag would not be an issue. I had to decide between gimbal or monitor so I choose monitor since I already had one and I was borrowing my friend's gimbal at the time haha (which is just like this one). The smooth3 is the only one with the necessary weight limit of 260 grams. The osmo and the other smooth gimbals don't have a weight limit that is high enough....

No, unfortunately the payload limit is to low with the smooth c. Its 260g (vs approx. 200g of the smooth c) weight limit was the main reason I had to choose the smooth 3. The c can't keep the horizon, I tried that. Initially it can keep it, but as soon as you tilt and move if follow mode for example it is in trouble. Also with less battery power this happened more often to me when I tested. Sorry I don't ave a better answer....:)

I hate any mention of Cas... whatever that dip .... name is on the other channel as he's a joke. At least your channel has substance too it. That is what took me so long too subscriibe, anyone using his name or giving him credit? Loses credibility. You are 100x the blogger/vlogger that he is. Anyway, loved how you set this up. Have you done any more looking into a setup where you can use "ALL" the features of a gimbal and have a light as well? Just curious.. Thanks!

What do you hate about him so much? I don't care for some of the hipster attitude, but I can respect a grind when I see one. The dude looked like he never slept for like two years:) Anyway... @@Mark10ProVideo I think his willingness to break drone laws for one since I am a drone pilot. His complete disregard for others and his narcissistic attitude, the fact that he's a hipster and ignorant as well. I personally don't understand how people can tolerate him for more than 1 second of play. Even when I let youtube randomly play videos, if I hear his name said or his voice.. video goes off. I don't see why people name drop him when in reality most of the people are a hell of a lot better than his. Take your channel for instance. It has substance, it has a real production value.. The other individual? Lacking heavily... But see here in the US we have a lot of simple minded people so I guess they relate to him? As far as a grind, I know drug dealers etc... that have grind. A real grind.. so they can feed their families. Albeit, I do not agree with their life style. Ca... is just stupid. lol Anyway, glad you took the time to respond. I did watch that video but that Gimbal won't cut it. The noise it produces, or I have heard produced that the Hero picked up is horrible. (Motor noise). And that light is daylight balanced? That was a really blue hue to it. I need something brighter and warmer and with a phone on it. IF you ever get bored, maybe you can find a resolution. lol I can't find one anywhere.

@@ElevatedViews The gimbal noise can be dealt with using a mic having the right shock mount. My hack with the dji fleximic worked rather well considering the thing is like 10 bucks.... Mh...mounting the light like that is...tricky.....it would have to move with the gimbal if you don't want it to appear on screen...otherwise you could just use a long or regular magic arm to mount it at the same height as the gopro. thing is the weight limit of that gimbal is absolutely maxed out with the setup..would have to be a bigger gimbal...

No, the weight limit isn't high enough with the version 4. Only about 210g, compared to the 260g of the version 3.

It must be the smooth 3 because of the weight limit, the others can't handle enough. SJ CAM seems to have the same dimensions as the Hero 6, so in that regard I say yes, that will work. You will have to fiddle around with the cable management, because the SJ CAM does not need an adapter like the gopro, but it can be done I think......

Not with the necessary weight limit unfortunately....I am really pushing this one....anything lower than 260 grams is not enough. I tried it with the smooth q (200g)...couldn't hold the horizon.....osmo mobile 1 (210g)....same problem...
