Thanks so much for sharing! Just got my Hero 8 black and love this video. Very helpful and you didn't talk to fast so I could think about what you were saying and internalize it before you got to the next subject. Very nicely done! The other thing I liked you were not one of those over excited kids jumping around trying to make the video more about them and their silly selfie instead of the subject matter on hand.

Although I've spent my military career doing video production and editing, I shied away from buying one of these things mostly because of the price of the camera and the accessories that make it all work. Well, my Mrs. bought me the Hero8 Black for Christmas 2019, on your advice, I bought several accessories to make the shooting experience a better one. The instructional video was well done and easily understood, so good job there. I was able to download the app and connect the camera to my iPhone 11 Max. I did have to update the firmware manually, though. For some odd reason, I couldn't do it via bluetooth. It's not too difficult although there are several steps you have to take. My next step is to affix the camera to my motorcycle and try a couple of "on the road" videos. I also bought the elastic head mount and chest mount and I'm going to try to capture some video while parasailing. We'll see how it goes.

I am a technologically challenged 55 year old who just bought a GoPro Hero 7 Black. I don't know where to begin so the obvious answer is RU-vid. Did you ever figure it out? If so how do you like it and how long did it take for you to figure it out? I bought it so my 13 year old daughter and I can record our electric scooter adventures etc. HAHA

Just got my very first gopro (hero 8) for my 39th birthday so I can capture memories with my baby boy. I have done a lot of photography before, but I’m so happy to find this video on how to use this camera. It’s so great to be shown in such a clear way how to use it. Many years ago, when I first started using Photoshop, I was overwhelmed and struggled to get started. Finally I invited a professional photographer friend over for dinner and promised him and his wife a gourmet meal if he would spend an hour getting me started in Photoshop. It worked out perfectly and I went on to become far more than proficient in PS. Now the GoPro comes along and the online owner's manual sucks and I wish I had a GoPro using friend that I could invite over for dinner but, instead, I found your video. It was Perfect! Thank you! Thanks for this as I just got a Hero 8 (for running, swimming, safety, etc.) Since it's my 1st GoPro, I got this one b/c it's less expensive w/all the features I need, but there are few instructions in the box. And though I think I'm *fairly* tech-proficient, for the life of me, I couldn't get the battery cover off! Now that I've done that, it's on to the camera features in the rest of the video... 📷🎥🤳🏃‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Any luck getting files out of the bastard thing to a Windows laptop via USB? If get files into my computer via any other means they will play perfectly. If i switch to MTP on the POS Hero and import them to the hard drive via USB, then the files pause and re-sync every 5 sec during playback. Having to physically pull out the SD card to transfer files in 2020 is a massive fail!!! 👎 I should have replaced my Sony X3000 with the the DJI instead.

FWIW, inserting the memory card is a little easier without the battery installed. Maybe it’ll help someone :) Also, as of June 2021, the app is now called GoPro Quik. That’s not made very clear in any literature I had.

I record in 4k but my computer can not play the video without lagging so much that the video and the sound do not match up. How am I able to view the video on my pc that was recorded in 4k? I also tried vlc and other media players but still no joy

If i record 30 minutes, then on Gopro app, it shows 3 videos on 8.52. minutes and then a short one. Why?? How do i change it, so i get one long video on 30 minutes?? I'm desperate 😂 You can see the length on my videos, then you'll know what i mean. Got mine last month then after few weeks go pro 9 was been release,sad ....but definitely like my go pro 8 as i been using it most often as my dash cam while driving , but still on learning to use all the settings and stuff like that.

GoPro is a crap company. Stay away. Get a DJI instead. They service their products, unlike GoPro. Your camera fails and DJI will fix it. If your GoPro fails, all you have is a very expensive paper weight.

So I’m a vlogger and for my birthday I’m getting this camera. But it seems like the battery goes down quickly, is that just evacuee he clipped up scenes and he was recording for a long time on his main camera and not the GoPro. Because he was not doing nything on the GoPro like recording which would take a lot of battery? Plz help

Thanks for the great video buddy, but it's too late for me already took that piece of s*** back. Couldn't get it to sync with my phone the sticker on the back wouldn't come off there's no directions I will never buy a GoPro Hero ever pissed off customer

Quick tip to insert the SD card easier, take the battery out to insert and remove it. It makes things a lot easier

My drift camera has a feature rather than record all the time you can set a time like 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes etc. The camera is on but if something interesting happens it will record the 30 seconds before, the current 30 seconds and then the future 30 seconds depending on what you set the timer on. This is helpful when riding a motorbike as you don't use up all your battery or storage and you only record if something happens. I hope GoPro adds this feature

I understand this video is older, and GoPro is up to 12 now, but I forgot about my hero 8 black for that entire duration and only just dug it out the other day. I'm having trouble figuring out if the right app has popped up on the playstore. The box only says "GoPro App" with some pictures and no QR code or app name listed. Currently, the playstore has "GoPro Quik: Video Editing" pop up as the only app from GoPro, but is that the correct companion app you and the box are talking about?
