I think it is really dumb how Gopro doesn't provide a competent editing software that allows you to stitch 4k videos back together again without needing 3rd party software. lol

@@thunderroad7289 wow, I didn't even know they had GoPro drones. Good thing I didn't buy one. Even the damn software that came with GoPro to edit, Quickpro or whatever, at least on my computer, NEVER worked and constantly crashed. On my phone it's ok, but I prefer working on a computer for the ease of navigating an edit with a mouse and bigger screen. GoPro is seeming more like a overpriced scam company with cheap ass software. 🤷🧐 Thanks for the heads up on the drones, I might have bought one!!

What about longer videos? I play volleyball and I need to upload full game videos for scouting purposes. For some reason, the GoPro that I have only saves 8 minute video segments and I can't figure out how to put them together. I have tried lowering the resolution, among other settings and nothing seems to work. Any tips?

Hi! I used iMovie maker using my hero 6 1080p 60fps for my car reviews. But they also turn out grainy and a bit laggy/choppy and generally bad quality. But when I watch the video on my photo album it’s crystal clear. But as soon as I upload it to RU-vid it becomes really bad. I do upload the video from my iPad to my RU-vid after editing on iMovie. Do you know why the quality becomes so bad when it’s on RU-vid?

Thank you! I just have a quick question- I recently just got my GoPro and since I don’t really have another microphone I was wondering if it was possible to put just audio from the GoPro over a video. Sorry if my question is stupid I am new to this stuff.

Hey, yeah sure it's possible. The audio from a gopro is OK, much better to use an external microphone though, if you on that you'll need a kit and mic adapter

thanks for that video. I have been using go pro quik and iMovie then uploading straight to youtube from iMovie and have thought quality didn't seem as good as the original footage. I do like go pro quik for grabbing photo snaps from video footage as there is an icon for this, but as you say can be annoying to have to download whole lot. Being a bit of a non-tech, once you have saved the edited film to your external mac hard drive, how do you upload it onto youtube, is it on you tube studio. Thanks, probably a really obvious question.

Awesome, yeah...I'm not a big fan of GoPro's app - I think it's sh*t. BUT...it can be useful *sometimes* - for 'quick' edits. But if you want to do something more substantial - whether you're posting to Instagram, RU-vid or somewhere else, I'd always recommend using a video-editing software like iMovie, FinalCut, or Premiere.

bro i have a quick question, is it possible to upload straight from the goproapp to youtube and making it 4k?(the vid i recorded was in 4k 30fps) or do i have to go through another editor like premiere to export it to 4k to youtube?

Hey, from what I know you can share from the gopro app directly to RU-vid. Whether you can upload straight there in 4K is sowmthing I don't know, try it out! I always prefer to edit on my computer, then upload to RU-vid from there

question- so ive got footage to make into a travel vid (just lots of short clips) but only half wont fit on my use which means i probably cant upload to social media either im guessing. yet people make and upload 5 min travel vids- high quality too- and im just not sure how to compress it all.

I have a MacBook Pro with an M1 chip, but I wouldn’t recommend it! I’d honestly get an Apple that’s a few years old! Way better

For 4K GoPro videos for RU-vid your laptop or pc needs to be a minimum i7 or better with a good editor…that’s why I need to upgrade my desktop from i5 to i7. GoPro actually tells you what is needed for 4k

I use hero 5 black for trail riding videos which are lengthy. When I download from a card they are divided into 26 minute sessions. Then all of a sudden they divided into 10 minute sessions. Can you explain why this happens and can I change this?

No idea why 😂 we'll actually.... It could be because of the quality you're recording in. My camera does the same. It gets to maybe 30 mins and starts a 'new' video. I think it's how gopro best processes video, and it makes the file sizes more manageable once you get them onto a computer

Hi, I have some gopro video that looks mint on my phone, camera settings taken from the loam ranger but no matter what i do (upload directly to youtube from gopro app, or through youtube app or instagram app they look rubbish! They are shot in 1080P and look amazing in my camera roll. How do people upload such clear footage? My footage is clear but once uploaded it's rubbish.

I shot a video on my GoPro hero 9 black in 5k, and when I uploaded it to RU-vid it is capped at 1080p. I saved the videos to my phone like you said, taking up almost 16gb of storage as expected for a 5k video. My RU-vid channel has upload in HD turned on and it does on my phone too. So there’s no other settings I can touch in that way. Any ideas?

Hmm interesting, I haven't experimented with 5K as yet - usually film most of my stuff in 1080 as RU-vid always compresses it - even if you upload in 4K and 5K

My video in gopro is 9.35 minutes but after tranferring to anoyher device it was only 8.43 minutes. How can i get the full video? I can watch the entire video using gopro but after being tranferred it doesn't reach the end of the footage

Thanks for this. I have a question. I have been transferring my clips to the GoPro app and then downloading the files from the cloud to my computer (so I don’t use a card reader). Am I losing quality by doing this?

I've always downloaded video clips from the gopro to my mac using the card reader. That way there's a much lower chance of losing any quality. Ive only used the app for transferring photos and short Instagram videos to my phone. Hope that helps

Well, if I'm making a RU-vid video, I'll transfer videos straight from my Gopro to my mac. If it's a video or photo for Instagram I'll send straight from the gopro to my smartphone via the gopro app.

WOLFPACK ADVENTURES yeah I think I may have figured it out , I’m just computer illiterate so I’m not a big PC person or tech person. I just want to see all the video footage that I have to my desktop which is not a Mac computer and I think I figured out how to do that as of this morning but I don’t know how to take all the videos and import them into a file to my desktop so I can later take those video clippings and put them inside the editor and edit a video. I’ve been doing so much searching online and on RU-vid On how to do it but again like I said I’m just a computer in tech illiterate I don’t know anything I don’t know where to start. So that’s why I was asking I sent this message this morning before I actually figured out that I could actually import the videos to my actual desktop. I appreciate your response though

This is helpful if you haven't use other action cam. Gopro: video>app>phone Others:video>phone Hows that possible? Gopro devs dont even own gopro Also because gopro wants you do download "in the app" the "files" stores inside the app storage so the app size will increases as soon as you are done with the file you deleted it on the app, the app sill hold the "files" even after deleting it and nothing you can do about it unless you clear it in app manager, which is frustrating

I have a GoPro hero6 black. I’m not able to see the videos on my GoPro when I connect my phone and look at the media. I know for a fact the videos are their because when I go on my GoPro and go into the library I see the videos. This is really annoying because I’m not able get the videos off my GoPro onto my phone. I’m able to see the photos but not the videos. Does anybody else have this problem? If so do you know how to fix?

Take the MicroSD card out of the GoPro when you've finished recording (it goes in and comes out easily) and put it in a MicroSD-to-USB adapter. Insert the adapter into your computer's USB port and then you can access the files like a regular filesystem. I own the Kingston MobileLite G4 adapter and it works great.
