Out of all the light meters I own, the Gossen LunaSix F Light Meter has to be one of of favourites.
Using the Gossen LunaSix F Light Meter is extremely easy to use, its accurate and is great for tine placement just like we do when using the Zone System

I have a Gossen Profisix which is a very similar meter and a Gossen Mastersix which was its digital replacement. The Profisix is so much more convenient to use with its entirely analog see everything at once display. IMHO these are the nicest meters to use ever made. Sadly service is no longer supported but they are very reliable and accurate meters. I always use mine in incident mode as I almost always use slide film using a Pentax 67 or a Rolleiflex. I enjoyed the video.

I'd never buy a digital meter, those are ugly and complicated to use, and give but a single direct read out. I'd wish Gossen would again develop their analog meters which are superior for large format photography. I'd blot out the silly Roman numerals. I'd not use the numbers for filtration, which would make it necessary to check notes for each filter, where would you keep those? I prefer making accurate readings.

I have the ProfiSix with Lina Flash and Multabeam Spot and I find it very simple and reliable. I ended up with this LunaSix and seams to be so similar but with integrated flash.

Very nice review. I think you should add (if not already issued) a video on the spot meter attachments. I much prefer this meter to the sekonic. The only other meter that’s as nice imho is the Pentax digital spot meter. I do use the Gossen Pro F rather than the Six. Great video. Thanks!!!

What is the feature difference in the Luna Pro SBC w/ Luna Flash attachment?

Interesting meter, do you have to get close to a subject using the reflected light mode (what degrees does it read)?

If I am doing critical work for placing Zones, then I would get as close as I can to the subject without casting.a shadow. The angle is roughly 30 degrees when using the reflective mode although there is a spot meter attachment available which drops that down to around 7 degrees

30 degree, get the "Tele" attachment for 15 and 7,5 degree (and read the manual ;-) ) if you want to use the "Spotmeter" attachment you need the Gossen Profi-Six or Mastersix (it does not fit on the LunaSix !!!)

@@mflowproductions It does fits the Lunasix 3 also.

Is there any way to calibrate old lights meters?
@mflowproductions
@mflowproductions Год назад
For this one: with the meter off, use the little screw on the back to set the needle on the little green index on the left side. More should not be necessary (compare with any cameras built in meter or with "sunny 16" on a bright day

Amazing video Ian... Those Roman numerals are Ansel Adams zones, right? It is not very clear to me how to understand them.

We are beyond that zone system now, I'd blot out the silly Roman numerals.

What about cine readings? How many frames we can go upto? Is it easy to work with for cine style?

In the cine row there is a dot next to 24. That is the reading you should consider for cinema.
