DC, as a brand, deserve better and on some level in their thick heads, the Warner Bros executives know this. And with Gunn confirming that DC Studios is practically separate from executive input, gives me the sigh of relief I needed for eight years!

Can we just get a well written, dark Batman show in the same vein as Daredevil? Not a show where Batman is 12 years old. Not a show where Batman is dead and the Bat-family has to protect Gotham? Not a show about Penguin. A. Good. Bat. Man. Show.

11:33 Here’s what I’d do to explain an absence of Joker if I was making a Batman show without him. I’d say that Joker disappeared from Gotham after a particularly bad confrontation with Batman and throughout the series we’d see sightings of The Joker in different towns, kind of like The Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot sightings except what makes it scary is people know Joker is real.

In case you'd like to know, the idea of Bruce Wayne keeping the gun his parents were killed by was first established by Detective Comics Issue 574, 1987. It's been a reocurring element of the character since then.

I can excuse the “Batman killed the Joker” in Batwoman because of the implications that implies The Killing Joke had happened through Oracle references and I believe a few references to a dead Robin in the Arrowverse, I literally can’t understand why they did it for Gotham Knights.

*My favorite parts were 1 they just believe Bruce is Batman because his murder said so. And 2 they think his son did it so they raid the house, but do nothing about the military equipment in the batcave. They don’t even look for it*

what i hate the most about GK is how they treated the court of owls. i love the court of owls. part of what made them so damn menacing is that no one thought they even were real. they just like a scary story folks told their kids about. even batman didn't believe they were real until they came for him and nearly killed him. these court of owls are so out in the open, its a mircale they are even still around. not to mention how they nerfed the talon. the talon was so damn badass, even batman had major problems fighting one. and yet, in this show, two undertrained kids could beat one. like with batwoman, i just feel like someone at the CW just hates batman, given how much they make him seem like a total moron.

To answer your request in the ending, I would like to see a discussion video on Gotham's Bruce Wayne, as I think David Mazouz did a fantastic job at portraying the titular Dark Knight, without even putting the cape on (though in fairness, even when they did bring the Bat into the picture, it wasn't half bad....I just wish he had a better costume design for the two times he appeared 😂) ((seriously, look at the BTS pictures of Gotham's finale episode, that batsuit is hilariously stupid!))

Out of all things, they got random kids as the Protagonists for the show and calling them the “Gotham Knights”. Instead of maybe placing heroes like Nightwing or Batgirl in Instead we got Kids who are the Sons and Daughters of Batman or Joker and what disappoints me is the fact that it “maybe” implied that Batman was killed by the children of Joker instead of any of his enemies in his Rogue’s Gallery

Forget this malarkey and do the full series review of Batman the Brave and the Bold already!

Turner Hayes feels like a customizable player character in a game using the Batman IP. He's not exactly a main character, he's just being led by the other characters through each level of the game.

Impressive that they have somehow made the bar lower than Batwoman, and that Robin outfit looks like it belongs in the x-men 2000s films when studios were deadset on not having comic accurate looks.

First thing I have against this presentation.....As per continuity Batman did NOT kill Joker in The Killing Joke. Also a better moment when Batman ALMOST killed Joker because he seemingly killed someone Bruce cared about and he was stopped by a third party is in Batman Hush. I love that scene way more personally as it shows him as a human being that can stray from path now and then.

There was a book called “we are Robin” it was great it hit on the same topics of all that Gotham knights does. Each character is strong. They don’t make all of the characters too sexy and the comics make you care. This is awful

I'm honestly kinda astounded by how many shows without a clear audience are getting made lately, and I can only think of two of the top of my head. Is it just becoming a problem in the industry for a script for something totally original to have a popular franchise forced onto it by higher ups who are worried that it won't do well as its own thing? It's clear that shows like this and Velma aren't made out of a sense of passion for the source material. It feels more like they were meant to be their own thing but had an entirely unrelated but pre-existing identity forced onto them before they were granted the privilege of being allowed to air. I can only assume that this backlash was calculated ahead of time under the mindset of "Angry nerds complaining on the internet are free advertising for the show!"

I'm so glad I didn't start watching this show. You are speaking out the doubts I already had concerning the narrative arc (if it can be defined like that, maybe it's a too nice way to say it). The only good thing coming out of this is that, at last and for once, they didn't spoil and crash Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing character !

This might actually be the worst batman show ever made since I never even heard about it existing until now lmao. Even the "bad" ones get people talking, this has a stench so foul it aint even worth it.

I actually like this show, once you just understand the network a show is made for you see the show for what it is with that caveat. Yes Turner is made for the show but if that’s a bad thing then so is Harley Quinn, LiveWire, YJ Aqua lad, Renee Montoya, Batgirl Barbara Gordon, and X23. They all started on TV so to say “they should have used an established character” (which I get) or “he sucks because they just made him up” just remember to check to make sure if your favorite character isn’t a TV OC. But hey regardless I’m going to keep watching it because since YJ is cancelled/not green lit idk where I’m going to see these characters again, also Vee even though I will advocate for this show I also noticed that grooming vibe from Carrie Kelly.

Last I checked, "Batman kills Joker at the end of the Killing Joke" is just speculation (like from Grant Morrison), never confirmed. I think even Alan Moore debunked it. As to the series--they included Harper Row, and that gets an auto-rejection from me. If they had someone with Greg Weisman's cred on it, then maybe I'd have tuned in for morbid curiosity. But ever since the Eternal books, I haven't been able to stand that character outside her sparse appearances in Young Justice (but that's because Weisman and crew actually know what they're doing).

Turner isn't even good at his only marketable skill- fencing. I used to fence and what he does would drive any fencing coach nuts and probably get his ass disqualified from any kind of match, practice or otherwise; fencing is all about controlled thrusting attacks, parrying with minimal movement, and quick strikes and reposting for the next strike or to defend. The writers actually stumbled ass backwards into an unintentionally correct decision, his "fighting style" fits more with a slicing weapon like the katana, not a rapier like what you would use in fencing; honestly if he used his bullshit sword fighting with a rapier he'd probably break the damn thing.

I’m gonna be honest, I am really tired of this formula. I know it’s the CW & it’s a “tween/young adult ever so tapping at the barriers of the mature adult world” kind of network but the “Oh no! Batman is dead! What are we gonna do?” thing needs to stop. It’s getting tiresome & it hasn’t even been done that much lately either. That’s just a testament to how irritating of a premise it is… More importantly, we need to have a new silver screen Batman. I know he is big budget material and Hollywood and many other producers are afraid of the “Thunder being stolen” but we need to get over that crap. We can still have those Batman roles in existing in different universes while doing something new on the silver screen. I also know many fine actors have taken up Batman’s mantle (& some still return to that role years later like Michael Keaton & Christian Bale in the new Flash movie). Many of those actors also don’t want to be overshadowed & to that I also say, get over it.. Having said all of that, just go with me on this one… This time, let’s make it dark, a bit gritty & really explores the dichotomies of Bruce Wayne/Batman & his dynamic with everyone he interacts with (especially his love interests & his villains). If played right, this could go on for multiple seasons and Batman has more than an abundance of villians to create a dynamic season each year. I think “Arrow” & Grant Gustin’s “The Flash” show while not perfect on this dynamic, we’re definitely steps toward the right direction that I am describing. Batman, could fully realize that dynamic if like I mentioned, played right.. Enough of these shows like Gotham knights & even Gotham that either get it completely wrong, or teeter/tiptoe around all the elements that made Batman and his related folk who they are and why they thrive through the decades and even the millennia. We want a proper silver screen Batman & I don’t think it’s too much to ask at this point either. Just my two cents though.. We will just probably keep getting more crap shows like this one *smh*..

Seems like people like to reference the killing joke's ambiguous ending as Batman killing the joker. If he did, then that's not really a Batman story in my opinion, at least in the modern sense. Batman disappears a lot. Just because joker was laughing and then stopped just means batman took him. Also, many of the things that happened in Killing Joker continued into continuity. Batgirl being paralyzed. But Joker seems to be still around.

Why is turner Haynes not helena wayne...she fits this shows M.O. so well misguided though it may be. 1. She is the daughter of a bat villian. Catwoman in fact so the take the money frame would fit better 2. She is one of the robins 3. Her parents being killed and her trying to catch the murderer is literally her origin 4. She has her own name as the huntress to work towards acquiring, with a cool modern day new 52 costume to draw inspiration from. Plus her comics history has been retconned enough the cw has not only a wealth to pull from but wont hit as bad if they change it to some more original stuff... And helena wayne is a completely different huntress from helena bertinelli...the one on the harley quin movie and she's a like 6th teir character so cw could get the rights...

I really dont get what was supposed to be the draw of this show. I thought maybe they would make the show like the game of the same name but NONE of those great characters are here. This is just a random combo of barely relevant characters. Theres no real draw to this show at all and after they couldnt even use Nightwing, they should have just dropped the show.
