I kind of hate summer. I get seasonal depression in the summertime. Where I live, it gets too hot. 🔥 🥵 Likewise, Autumn is my absolute favorite season. I have a list of favorite things to do to help me get through the heat of summer. I start it on July 1st.
That message on the grave marker wasn't sinister. It was a gentle warning / reminder not to take life and people for granted. From dust we are and to dust we will return. Love the coastal, foggy scenes. Breathtaking! 💙

I have been craving autumn sooo much (never cared for summer) that I have been adding twig wreaths etc. trying to achieve a sort of Hocus Pocus/ Practical Magic kind of kitcheny theme. I do love the vibe but don't want to get dark, I am a proud follower of Christ, just love the woodsy cottage vibe maybe? 😮

I find beauty in summer...the fresh berries, lightning bugs, and thunderstorms but every year just gets unbearably hotter and hotter. Now, for me, summer is basically a countdown to autumn.

I adore how you romanticize every little moment. I often have these little moments of scenarios in my head of how I want things to go and how I'll feel while doing them. I'm glad to know other people are enjoying those little moments. Not enough people slow down and really let themselves experience these things. I think we'd all be a lot happier if we did.

If you haven’t read Kate Morton yet, I feel confident you’d adore her. One of her biggest influences is du Maurier, and she loves to tell stories about the layers of time in grand old houses. Not fully spooky, but definitely mysterious with her “why dunnit” motifs. My personal favorite is The Clockmaker’s Daughter (audiobook read by “Anna” of Downton Abbey is *chef’s kiss*), but The Forgotten Garden is the perfect grown-up story for lovers of The Secret Garden.

I loved Mary Downing Hahn's writing! I read Wait Til Helen Comes as a 5th grader and I STILL adore it and feel the creepy vibes 37 years later!!! I am just now getting around to reading more of her work and while it is in the 'juvenile' section of my library, something about her style stays with me after each book I read! And you're right, sometimes I like the YA stories better- they don't have to rely on gore or sex- they utilize more potent storytelling and that's what I'm here for! Thank you for one of the best videos ever. You really outdid yourself!!

Mary Downing Hahn and Betty Ren Wright (The Dollhouse Murders) were both elementary school favs of mine too! For some reason I always associate them with Summer, bc I can remember coming in after playing outside in the sun all day, taking a bath and climbing between cool, crisp sheets to snuggle up with these ghost stories (or reading them on family trips) ✨️ As I got a bit older, I also really enjoyed the Fear Street books and LJ Smith books (early 90s when they had all just came out).

One of the many things I love about this video is how you made of the rainy weather an opportunity. I have seen so many people on the social media, and in real life, complaining about the "bad" summer days, when it's not sunny enough to spend the day at the pool, or when it rains in the afternoon and they can't spend the entire day outside ; as if summer could only be enjoyed in a specific and mainstream way. But you, instead of waiting for the perfect day, you found a way the turn every day into your perfect day. For me that's a kind of magic.
So I finished my best friends exorcism in two days! It was actually fantastic. I dont know if I would have picked this up regularly, but it was such a good read, and I loved how they wrapped up the story ❤️

I’ve been in the mood for fall but I always like to make sure I wait so that the season remains special and something to look forward to but this is such a fun way to celebrate all things spooky with a different twist! Also, I live in the area, and visit that cemetery every October and take a Polaroid of that gravestone! I loved this video. The scenery was breathtaking, and, I felt like I was right there. I never thought that anyone else enjoyed visiting cemeteries, I too, have a favorite reading spot in the cemetery where my family is. I sit under a cedar tree that is said to be over 150 years old, and read my books aloud. Nothing more peaceful.
I grew up in RI. Born and raised in Bristol and I've lived in Newport for the last ten years. Seeing you explore my state makes me so much more appreciative of where I live. You capture it's beauty so well - it's absolute art! It definitely renews my appreciation for where I live and I'm so happy that you've chosen a place like this to live as well. PS - it's closed for the season right now but you HAVE to visit Chateau Sur Mer when it reopens. It's a smaller mansion in Newport but it definitely has the gothic vibes you're looking for. I was in this exact mood as well! I feel like decorating my home with dried flowers and fake pumpkins mixed in, really pushes the spooky summer. I’ll probably hold off on pumpkin scents and go for more musky smells. I love watching all your summer videos (and rewatching) throughout the summer time. It’s like a immersive mood board.

I've been doing the exact same thing up here in Canada; we've had an unseasonably cool July, and paired with the smoke from the wildfires, it's feeling like autumn. I'm enjoying the weather with autumnal jazz music, flannel shirts, chai tea, and cozy crafting!
