This song is actually by Neil Young. I joined a band of older guys who were huge CSNY guys. Skiers up there in Crested Butte, Colorado . As our shows became 80 Original / 20 covers. This was one we made our own for nearly four years. This is the great Warren Haines. This song brings back memories of my band mates, best group of guys I ever knew (Soundman and our Manager included) No bs...this is a KILLER song. enjoy!
Thought I'd do something new this morning. I've loved this song for decades and refused to hear anyone else performing it, but I've been on a Gov't Mule kick for a minute, so I thought I'd give it a try. I love them.
I just watched a video of Warren and DMB doing this song in 2011. It was 19 minutes and 6 seconds long. Then I saw the length of this video from 2016 is 19 minutes and 6 seconds long. Warren truly is the master of all things musical across time and space.
I was outside when a started to hear this cover come on ... had to see who was covering this great Neil Young song ,,, came inside and discovered Gov't Mule
Check out Warren playing with Dave Matthews. Also, highly, highly recommend watching the whole show of Stevie Ray Vaughan live at El Macambo. It is insane.
Quando sujeitos como Warren Heynes tocam a sua música com tanto empenho e alma você pode ter certeza de que deixou um legado inestimável e insubstituível!! Vida longa, Neil Young!
My this does have a "dark side of the moon" feeling. Quite special. Thanks btragal for the post. Charlie can do no wrong. Gov't Mule isn't too shabby either. And Brandon on the keyboards. Amazing!
Still sounds greatl seen mule six times I miss Allen Woody... Wish he would tour again as blue floyd, doing all Floyd songs but blues style.. was one of the best shows I've ever seen
Glad to see Warren playing Cortez The Killer! Not everyday does he go down the musical journey, glad to see Blackberry Smoke is getting him on that trip!!!
Warren always crushes this song , then Charlie accompanying. Just awesome . The Steepwater Band also jams on Cortez. They crush it too , check them out .✌🏽
The best I ever saw him was doing Dark Side of the Mule at Red Rocks. My wife saw Floyd in the 70s. And she had tears running down her face during the show. She said she couldn’t tell the difference.
Gotta love the talking audience during the most Amazing & intense versions that I've ever heard..especially the that "YELLING ALLEN " Charlie might resemble Wood a lil...However, he died 15 351 days prior to this show.....
This is the maximun dimention of rock & roll deep high sensation. Esta musica de rock sensation es una incursion en las profundidades del sonido de maxima dimension y de la imagination .Musica gruessa para los que saben sentirse en el mas alla del horizonte
Great version! Think I like the Warren and Dave Matthew one a little better. Charlie Starr is fucking awesome and Warren Haynes, what can you say He fucking Warren Haynes!!!
I DO hope this is a lame attempt at humor as Charlie Starr & Blackberry Smoke are one of the hottest bands out there today. And SO far from a rhythm guitarist.
It's always stressful. I remember probably the same guy at the gate who busted you found my rig, but let me in, saying "if you take out that camera we'll throw you out.." I was careful at first, then it became apparent it was ok.
I drove up from VA for the show -4hrs- and Warren allows it but certain venues don't -- no big deal - glad you to took some video - thanks again,,,, I did get to see Warren after the show too

John Gilstrap Agreed! As much as I like Satch, if Warren had played on that version... Wow! The trumpet is so fitting, never realized how much this song needs one...
al though i walk tgrew the shadow of death ishalall fear no evil for thou is withme we were the meanest men in the the vally was riten on john rices guitar case he caryed it threw nam

It's a shame the sound man fell asleep or od ed at his job. If you want to hear this song done with conviction and awesome quality sound crew on their game listen to the Dave Mathews band play this song with Warren playing some of the best lead guitar I've ever heard him play. He let's it all out on this song with a fantastic band surrounding him and right on key. Super quality like I've never heard. Poor Warren was trying to keep everything going in time and they kept tripping over themselves horribly. couldn't even hear Warren play. then the vocal mic's had no volume. I hate to beat up on them cuz they are usually a good band . I dont know where in the hell the sound guy came from but I bet he wasn't there for their next performance.
You're not able to hear the passion in those notes? You might wanna get your hearing checked...lol Put your headphones on, close your eyes, and hold on...... ;-) 15 minutes in and beginning to think you where just being sarcastic....lmao
