Agree completely. He is a monster player, songwriter, singer, performer. His no nonsense , bring it to the folks, stage presence is one of his most appreciated performative attitudes. It's all business born out of love of the artform. Improvisational players will always be the most entertaining for me. I love the fact that what you will listen to from a solid improv / jam band player will be outstanding AND it will be THE ONLY time it gets played exactly like that. Good players with good instincts do very well at this. Once in a while it doesn't go well but if you didn't have a little coal once in a while you would never get a diamond.
Thanks for sharing. My late brother-in-law and I shared the belief that this was the best Lynard Skynard song, not Free Bird. I still think of him when I hear this song. Sorry for your loss!
@@sharoncardinale3119 Lucky you! :) In Spain we don't have that blues culture and bands like gov't mule simply don't happen. Dream of travelling abroad and enjoy that music. We don't exactly the same but you are invited to drop by and if you want get for free our first ep on bandcamp, also spoti All the best and take care
I dedicate this to my 16 year old son Tyler. He took care of me thru breast cancer WHILE he was recovering himself from a pacemaker. Thanks for sharing this version. Great guitar and Artemis still got it. God Bless the Simple Man.
Yes sir one of those guys who is so amazing voice and a great southern accent to the southern way of life. Man has been an seen things become one of the most entertaining southern guitarists of all time. Have been able to find peace in your music and have been able to make it happen over your entire career I think I have been listening to him since the One of those southern rock stars that never seems to keep the music coming and the world looks forward to the next time of his performance as one of the best in the world of southern rock GODS of America that's what I think.

A magical Ronnie Van Zante song and played by the World's finest, in Warren Haynes, Govt Mule, and plane survivor, Artimus Pyle, of old Lynyrd Skynyrd. Magical.....
Seen Lynard skynard maybe 10x & when they played this song I would call my younger son on the phone & we would sing it together! Hope someday my oldest son who's 35 now, hasnt seen me or been social for almost 15 yrs. I keep hoping & praying someday soon - I will open the door & c him for real just not in my dreams, & call him during a show when Simple Man is blasting out the speakers of my heart to his he also has PTSD from being in Afghanistan!!
Audley hung out with our bike club and house band during the 80's. He was in college at UNCW. We blowed up a amp while playing at the Patio and he ran to his apartment got his so we could finish the gig. What a brother he is.
You have to admire Gov Mule for the care and respect they showed in performing this song!It has no national anthem,or a song to make a pledge too,but it was a heart song at a time that Ronnie was thinking about the one true religious family he had?GarndMa VanZant!Great jod Warren, and Gov Mule.
not just the Southern Rock genre------Warren has covered everything and played with everyone in the blues and rock world.......Gov't Mule had some really experimental music on their albums as well
@Tonya Harmon early Mule was the best....most original......but Warren's ability to jam with ANYONE and perform EVERYTHING is incredible, doncha think ? also, his collaboration with the remaining Skynyrds and Allman Bros. reveals his roots
Man, I tell you. I am 60 years old, a fan of 38 special, Skynrd, Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet, but I missed out on these very talented guys ? Damn ! !
My son, Hunter, rest easy Buddy, I miss you more than words can say! RIP: June 2, 1993 - November 5, 2012, only 19.5 years young! Well the unconditional love Rusty, your smooth collie we bought you for your 9th birthday is with you now too, as of last Sunday! Enjoy the many hours not getting tired playing Frisbee up there! RIP: Rusty-Boy April 11, 2002 - January 3, 2016
@@JasDarc - Sorry Brother! It's a hard road to travel losing a child! The pain never goes away you just have to learn to live with it the best you can as you child would want you too!
Really, songs that had words with a meaning. I first saw Skynard when they played as the third band along with Bad Company and Foghat, not sure but I belive that was in 71, maybe 72.
Just luv everything Haynes has ever done, there are only a handfull of people that elevate a musical situation no matter who else is there when they walk onstage and Warren Haynes is one of those people, he just makes the music better no matter the situation!!!
Check out this guy's resume. One that will rival ANYONE's !!! A no nonsense, no ego, regular guy. Check that.....A regular Southern boy !!! Glad I've had the opportunity to see him perform. A true artist and great guitarist.
Im a 61 year old lady who first saw Aerosmith back in 78 during the Rocks tour at the old Philadelphia Spectrum.I STILL have a crush on Joe Perry and STILL thinks he's one of the greatest guitarist of all time!!!!❤❤❤❤
This was ana mazing show. I remember standing in Roseland for over 7 hours. Lol. Was well worth it though. Now Roseland is a hole in the ground, soon to be a 50 story condo building. Damn shame.
Yep, Mule from 95-2000 at Roseland, Wetlands, and Irving Plaza was some of the greatest Rock n' Roll ever. Irving Plaza was $15 tickets. This show was great, but one of the saddest ever.
Been busy with life and just now, very late discovering Warren and his amazing talent. The Boyz from Gainesville are smiling down on this performance...
I miss you Brother....Des Moines '06 I got out from the set up in Iowa. The buck stopped here & a Lady & her kids got to walk thank God(Mother's & their children should not be parted until the child is adult) Stew & I chatted with you Jimmy Loved the Sherman and somehow a miracle happened but what a beautiful night & it brought me back towards peace after Florence USP MAX/HIGH did another person's time.
