This tune is so full of funk and grooviness. From their debut album from 1979, " Disco Nights", the guitars and the bass line and the great vocals made this a big hit in many genres. It made it to Number 1 on the Soul charts, Number 12 on the Pop charts and Number 3 on the Disco charts. One of those songs that makes you get up and dance about, so groovy. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Marcus. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

I remember back in the 80's, I couldn't wait to go to the club, just to party to this song. One of the all time greats!

I wasn’t too far behind you in 7th grade listening to this jam!! My mom used to take me to a record store called Peaches every Saturday and let me buy five 45’s ($1 a piece) This was one of the chosen few that I bought.

There was no way to keep from staying on the chair when "Disco Nights" started playing. Whenever I listen to this type of music I know that Disco is alive and well. Another 'make you move' song from that time is: "Just A Touch" by Slave And then earlier "Slide" and a little later "Watching You".

This is the best song in the world! I love disco real instruments, filled with rhythm and feeling, soul and great composition. You know I really think the dance music today is terrible. It's artificial music. Also the great thing about disco was you could easily pick up a girl. It's real good music. Today's dance music is artificial crap all electronic and computerized. I think some computer elements and electronics are ok.. But it can't be devoid of the keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and real drums. I think electronic music dehumanizing. Thai why disco was so much fun because of the real instruments. Puts you in a romantic mood dancing with a girl.😊

This 1979 song sounds great with Brass Construction's 1975 "Movin." They kind of have similar basslines. You mentioned Rick James, and his 1981 "Give It To Me" also sounds great with this, with a bassline that blends right in with this one. Also, that side-to-side swinging of the hips that particularly the lead singer is doing, especially in the "Rock! Freak!" interlude, is a disco dance that was popular in 1978 and '79 called the Freak, immortalized by Chic in their 1978 hit "Le Freak."

What he is learning today. I knew and appreciated when this was a brand new hit. I was 14 years old and felt this song was very very special in various formats. Lyrics,Music and harmony. I miss those days and wish radio stations and nightclubs today would bring this music back.

Glad you have a deep appreciation for this song, Harri. In my view, its the greatest disco song ever. It was written by Emmanual Rahiem Leblanc, the lead vocalist and guitarist. Check out his phenomenal guitar -- the unique sounds he gets out of it. But the whole band is so tight: the percussive keyboard chord riff and synth strings, the funky bass line and syncopated drum beat. The lead vocal is so great, you just want to break out into song with him. This is a song I can listen to a hundred times in a row and never get tired of. My only critique would be the rock-freak part: while it works well for a dance song, its less effective for pure listening, rather it would have been better replaced by a proper middle eight or instrumental solo.

Harri- want to see your reaction to Phoebe Snow, one of the best voices of her generation (70’s). Off second Childhood disc try “two fisted love” “All Over” or “no Regrets”. Apologies if you already know of this artist. If you don’t you will be hooked.
