And lose the 45 milions?! Why?! He is a professional and he already got a ring… you guys have to realise that they play for the most money and most don’t care if they win or no… that’s what “professional player” means…
I think Grant is trade bait. They gave him that contract thinking a contender will need a 3 and D wing this offseason. Maybe they get an expiring contract, young player, and a first round pick. If Donte keeps up his production he may get Most Improved Player next season and will be on one of THE contracts in the NBA.
that’s exactly what happened. this is either bait by SROS or he totally forgot and didn’t bother looking it up. unusual move but it’s ight everyone makes mistakes
grant was signed during the moratorium period so theoretically the Blazers could have backed off. However them doing that + Dame asking out would have been a PR nightmare so i kinda get why they didn’t do it
@@blackmadamada2259 grant is a good player tho... this was a trash take by him... "didn´t make the playoffs since 2020" he was playing in detroit...... overpaid because he cant be a nr 1 on a really good team, lets see, 50w teams, mavs, kyrie 37m luka 40m, clippers kawhi and pg 45m harden 35m, nuggets jokic 47m murray and mpj 33m gordon 22m, wolves gobert 41m kat 36m conley 24m, ant gonna get his bag... grant made 27m this year... celtics, 36m jrue and porzingis 32 for tatum and 31 for brown....then says dlo was a bargain....... then brings him up again and talks about kuzma... who has not made the playoffs since 2021 when he avg 6.3ppg on 29.2%fg and 17.4% from 3.... off the bench.....
Curious what naz reid would of got if he ended up not signing his extension right before free agency would of been cool to see what he can do as a starter somewhere likely we see him as a starter next year tho wolves definitely moving either rudy or kat this summer probably kat
Freddy V’s contract was called bad at the time but 2 years 85m ish for a veteran PG who can give above average defence 17 4 and 8 ish and a new locker room is a good deal ngl for a team who had tons of money
Wasn't sure you would cover Dillon Brooks cause that one actually ended up being a sign and trade with Memphis cause we had to clear a little cap room for him.
I dont mind the Jerami Grant contract becuase similar to Houston with Vanvleet they have to pay someone and Grant is a solid vet. The 5 years is tough but i think they keep him this year to complement their young core and then hes a more manageable 3 year contract next year at 30yrs old. That has value since he is a good player.
@@R.B.90 You're just restating what I said. Grant's contract just got signed last offseason it's a guaranteed 5 yr deal, obviously after next season its just 3 years 5 minus two can't you count? His contract per year is very high it's not tradable unless you give up significant assets to offload him.
I think OKC should trade for Jakob Poeltl as there back up center. Chet should be there starting center, but all of the suggestions people give like Nic Claxton and Jarret Allen are too good to come off the bench
VanVleet is an A. If they really want to grow their young core, there isn't a better mentor to teach them to be pros. And he greatly contributed to winning.
as a blazers fan i like the grant signing. yes it’s overpay, but they’re gonna be losing anyways so does it really matter if we overpaid him? who else would join portland? they’re not a big destination. look at the pistons they’ve been struggling for so long. having players like grant throughout the rebuild wouldn’t be some big impact but it’d definitely help. he’s a good player and having that on a team throughout a rebuild has to be a good thing.
Think you are undervaluing FVV, especially compared to the A for Kuzma. Led by example to what was basically the laughing stock of the NBA in 22/23. Gave good defence and facilitated a team that made a good push for the play in. Sure it’s a lot of money, and that may be what lowers the grade but in the context of Houston where they had the money to give before having to worry about Alp, Green etc… extensions I think it’s a smashing signing
Typed that before I saw the Brooks A, we got to be giving Freddie an A- surely? Much bigger impact on the team mentality than Dillon (cringes) “the villain”
It’s the other way around. You’re comparing him to Kuzma who got basically half the bag and produced more on a terrible team. FVV got way overpaid and he’s not even the 2nd best player on his own team despite being the 14th highest paid player in the league. Dude shot .416 on a team that added 2 big free agents, 2 high level rookies, had a breakout year from their young star and still didn’t make the play-in. Any good PG would “facilitate a team”. C+
@@stephanpetersen06 i do appreciate that, i am certainly not advocating for FVV being deserving of 40m a year. But i think in Houstons case that is a non factor given they had to use that money. It has no implications due to the team option in 2025 on extensions for any of their far more talented young guys. The issue was they needed an organiser, not just someone who could stat pad assists (which he did rather well in anyway) but run sets and organise defensively. There are definitely more talented guys out there at this, but which of them were free agents in 2023? Looking at the pool it was FVV, Dlo (hell no), AR15 (is cool and all but he isnt a facilitator/organiser) after that point you are looking at dudes like Schroder and tre jones. Given all this in my head the money is irrelevant. If they had chose to take a 1st and eat some bad contracts we would’ve had another year joking about them as an YMCA team. The value i look at is strictly he got their talented young stars engines started, got them defending (alongside the work of Ime and Dillon ofc) and to me that’s invaluable
