my 3D printer has a heated bed, maybe this should work too? Will 60 Celcius be hot enough or should i go higher? I dont want to damage the drivers from my new Grados.
60 Degress didnt worked. I have headed up to 85. One more question, maybe you have a good idea how to get the driver out of the enclosure, without distroying it? Have you already done it? I dont want to burn the membran.
You have to be careful not to over heat it. I have seen people steam them open over a bowl of boiling water which may be safer but , yes, it does work with a hair dryer bit it is possible to damage the driver if you over heat it
We normally use Silk wrapped Litz as we have kilometres of it in the office but it is a nightmare to solder to I would not recommend it - any good quality wire would be fine
I am replacing the 3.5 jack on the same model Grado headphones. Surprise! EIGHT leads inside the cable! double red, double white, and four black. Trying to figure out why. Any ideas?
Yes - and on the top end ones they have 12 wires ;) You will be able to use a digital multimeter to figure out which of the black ones goes with the red or white. Both the reds will be right positive, both the white will be left positive. Then... if you are just using a jack, you can solder all the blue or black ones to the ground. If you want to go balanced you will need to use a multimeter and check which of the blue/black ones is left and right by measuring the resistance from one to one of the positives - if you don't get a reading it is not connected to that side .... hope that makes sense
A deceptively powerful question. Nearly all of humanities greatest discoveries have started with a simple "why?" but you may have to expand your question slightly for me to give you a sensible answer
