I did graffiti from 14-20 yrs old. I definitely grew out of it.. but if you weren’t involved in this culture you wouldn’t understand

I really hope this guy goes back and listens to this and realizes how much he contradicts himself with his own logic...

I`m a Oldschool writer too - I started in 1983 and I can relate to Asher and how he thinks however as I grew I learned not to fight against or push the boundaries of society but rather work within - I found that you can get what you want out of this world by compromising and accepting some parts that you may not like or disagree with. I can tell by the violence mentioned that he is still fighting for something that he can never gain. The narcissistic tendencies that Graffiti Writers surround themselves with is a bit egotistical and hard to get out of - that is the result of having to do whatever in order to earn validation and credibility from our peers. I was so glad to hear that his children are successful and I hope that he can learn to use his skill more constructively - Curb the anger and use that emotion to be more open to being part of and not outside of society. I am a teacher, a father and a Graffiti Writer - I paint because Its who I am, What I do and my mental stability, my clarity and my inner peace is well taken care of - I create for me - but - I like the praise I get - I am satisfied and don`t need to fight against society anymore, I do for me but also I do to show others. Good luck with your court case Asher - use this as a learning experience and try to be more positive for your family

The courage it has taken to make this channel is amazing. It is so thought provoking , these stories hopefully open the mind of the viewer. I wish the content maker the very best and send all the karma I can muster to the story tellers.

I was raised by my grandparents. My mom never came to pick us up for school, so I lived with my dad with my grandparents help. I was allowed to smoke, cuss and do anything I wanted. I chose not to. I was the mother of the house, worried about everything all the time. We didn’t have food and when I went to the grocery store, I did all the shopping at such a young age...I don’t make excuses, I choose the right thing to do.

Just because you're poor or own property in a poor area you're "fair game"...twisted thinking

You can say what you want, but the illegal graffiti scene has sparked a massive art movement in return, one of which the majority of people are amazed by when it is in legal confinements. But, its roots, the "illegal" side will always have a place as being authentic, and respected by those who understand and or took part in that movement. Hence why he (and a whole list of others) has gained a spot in the history books and will have credit long after. Not many people can say that.

He seems manic to me. Very proud of himself and he thinks that he can do anything. Rapid talking.

I find the comments here quite interesting compared to the other videos; particularly the comments of praise towards gang members that tell stories of shootings, drug abuse, robbery, etc. But the moment a guy says he changes the colours of a wall in the street, it's too far. This really speaks about how society perceives graffiti as some horrific crime rather than the art form is really is. From the very start the artist mentions that he'd write his daughter's name around the city to make her happy, that there details his artistic expression and willingness to create to make others happy.

Guy's a talented artist, but got into an argument with himself trying to justify the classic explanation for vandalism.

Being an artist from a broken home, covered in tattoos as well, from CA, I relate more to this guy than anyone else you've interviewed. Kind of surprised he gets a lot of criticism.

Some people think he's arrogant, crazy, etc. He's simply telling his story, explaining why he does what he does! I appreciate his honesty! The guy is a business owner and his happy!

I personally would knock on the door of the place I want to paint and ask them what they would like to see on their place of residence. Then I would put my style in with their idea. So it is like two minds coming together in mutual respect and creativity.

I think he's rebellious but so talented. I do love graffiti art. It's unique and it's been going on for year's. Whenever I see it I always wonder about the person who did it. So artistic and has a story to tell, or simply just to show the world their talent in a different way.

We can certainly say that he has figured himself out and lives on those terms. He has accepted the consequences of his own behavior and has achieved what he has desired. I respect and like this man.

No one seems to understand this guy but I completely understand him. His mindset isn’t “normal” to everyone. He’s not the normal worldly person and has his own beliefs and there’s nothing wrong with that. Just let this guy be who he is. I like Asher. Great Artwork. We need for him to come to Las Vegas, NV and have him take advantage of the spaces in Downtown Fremont Street East of the Experience. That would be beautiful. Some Art/Graffiti is there, but most of the larger buildings are empty creating great canvases. I have been a big fan of his work for a long time... and to understand his consistency in getting up can only be summed up to pure passion and love for the sport! Even though I could never participate in that kind of action his Art will always have my respect. In my opinion creating art is not hurting anyone but commercial advertising is everywhere and that is acceptable just because corporations have the money to purchase the space. Society will always be divided on this and each side will call each other crazy!

As I listened to Asher, he reminded me of my psychopath stepson, who is in prison...I'm no shrink, but I think Asher has the traits. Psychopathic researchers found that psychopaths often have these common traits: Lack of empathy, guilt, conscience or remorse. Shallow experiences of feelings or emotions. Impulsivity and a weak ability to defer gratification and control behavior. Superficial charm and glibness.

It’s mind blowing to me that the same people calling Asher a criminal is the SAME people praising Johnny and his gangsta stories. You rather praise Johnny for literally MURDERING people than say something good abt Asher who’s putting artwork on ugly buildings!? 😂 this world is out of wack for real smh

Our local school does an activity called Paint the Hill that allows the kids to make their own art on a very steep hill that the whole town can see. They also do sidewalk chalk competitions and stuff for artistic students. Its been quite the outlet for a couple of my kids.

I can relate with Asher as a writer from the early 90's from the RIV "909" ALWAYS WRITE ASHER.

I might tell my kids tomorrow that mommy just needs to do what makes her happy from now on. Nice to dream but sadly when I became a mother my happiness came secondary to my beautiful children. Seeing them happy is my happiness!
